Now I see. I thought you were concerned about the stair overhanging too much. I like the last idea you have with the 5/4 and 1/4 round.

Why do coaches and managers become so stupid?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) I legitimately think I could be a pretty good x's and o's manager. I could not do that in football or basketball. Literally couldn't. Now I wouldn't have the job in any league cause I don't think I'd command enough respect in the lockeroom if I just got hired from my finance gig to being an MLB manager. I also think it is hilarious how literally no matter what a manager does it will be given grief. People complain about Rollins, he sits him yesterday against a lefty and everyone goes irate (it isn't like Saladino is a lefty and Rollins doesn't have a huge career lefty / righty split). Aren't there a number of top front office types that have finance degrees and background? -
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) I personally am against it. The Feds have no business knowing what I own or how many of them. How can you help defend this nation from foreign troops if the government doesn't know what you have? George Washington felt we need a well regulated militia to defend a free State. Are you turning your back on that? How can you be a part of that well regulated militia without the people who will regulate you know what you have?

This is simply about value systems and beliefs. People who share a similar belief that cheating is bad will be less likely to cheat, no matter how they chose to reinforce their values. Going to church doesn't automatically make you perfect anymore than visiting a doctor makes you healthy. I see plenty of hypocrites at doctor's offices. They are sitting there like wow look how healthy I am I'm at a doctor's office, then eat a big bag of donuts on the way home, do drugs, don't exercise, etc. Hypocrites.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) Gun shops will charge from $30 to $60 for a transer fee. Most I have seen are $40. Seems ridiculous to me on a private sale.
-
In a private wager I have Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia in the Open at 100-1 Odds to win each. Even better, if they both finish in the top 10 I also collect at 100-1. I love a guy who is drinking and talking out his ass.
-
We also have to consider that some of these sales represent an exchange of less than $100. So the economics of registration is so much different than cars. How much is reasonable to spend registering an item that costs so little?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 12:58 PM) Tex told me that the tacos at the Cell are better than San Antonio tacos* *he didnt really tell me that I was trying to remember when we had a drunken conversation while eating Cell tacos. I'm picturing sauce dripping down my chin. -
I can't remember a season that I had to check the roster almost daily to see who is around. This seems like a different approach than what we have seen in past seasons.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 03:17 PM) Quit playing semantics tex. By antis I usually refer to people that want to ban all or almost all guns. edit: To answer that, no i don't believe EVERYONE should be able to own ANY type of gun. People who have gone thru the legal system and have lost their rights are forbidden already, and automatic weapons are also a no no. There should also be a way to prevent people with certain mental health issues from obtaining them, but you would need to figure a way to balance that with medical privacy laws. So stop using the semantics. It's not semantics for me it's an attempt to show that gun owners aren't these crazy everyone should have any gun they want types. The typical antis aren't every gun should be banned type either. Using those terms paints a very unrealistic picture and gets us nowhere. The vast majority of Americans have the same goal, stop these thousands of murders. How we get to that is the argument. If we focus on what we have in common, and the common goal, instead of generalizing and labeling, we may actually accomplish something.

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) That is the type of thought process that is also like "we can't move _______ from LF to RF or from 3B to the OF because it will mentally be too tough for him do adjust both defensively and keep it up at the plate" I hate that thought process, its a loser's mentality. Just like when they brought up a possible pitchers HR derby. People ran around saying "no!! injury risk for my pitcher!" and Joe Maddon goes on Arrieta - I don't believe in that. These guys workout all year, take batting practice - they can hit a few balls. Not to change this into Joe Maddon - but that's exactly the mindset this organization needs. Shark sucked last year because of mechanics. Whatever. It's not because he had to face 9 batters instead of 8 batters. I tend to agree with you in regard with the move between leagues. Yet, a lot of very good athletes have struggled. I can't believe it is all mental. There are some differences albeit fewer than a couple decades ago when the strike zone seemed very different between the leagues.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) Antis Do you believe that anyone should be allowed to own any type of gun or are you an anti?

The 2nd Amendment doesn't need to be overturned. We've already accepted that laws can be made that restrict gun ownership. To those that say look at the person. Why do we have so many people in the US who use guns to kill so many people compared to the rest of the world?

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) I don't trust people who don't swing their arms at all when they walk. It just looks weird. I played basketball in high school with a guy who clawed at the air when he ran. Almost like he was swimming. He was very slow, I guess he thought using his arms and hands might increase his speed.

What I am trying to point out Alpha is each side agrees that there are people who should not have guns. How we get to that point is the struggle. Until both sides quit the b.s. theatrics, silly memes (really pencils and guns are the same), and all the other deflections, we'll keep having mass casualties. As a gun owner I am concerned that we'll go too far and good people will lose access to their guns. As a person who dislikes people misusing a tool and killing thousands of people every year in the US, I know we can do better.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 08:09 AM) Oh, I thought you were on your summer trip or something. Jury duty then my summer tour begins. Bend, Oregon, Santa Fe, Bayfield Wi, St. Germain, Chicago, and back to Texas.

90% of the coverage was about the gunman and his motivation. Less than 10% was the tool that he chose to use. You can't solve this by ignoring the tool that most of the crazies chose to use when they want to kill a lot of people. You also can't solve the problem by ignoring the person and their motivation. It all works in tangent. Yes there are other ways to kill people. The easiest is to buy a gun. Building bombs is harder. Hijacking a plane is harder.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 11:25 PM) Hey there, I've felt a metaphorical target on my back in places before for being gay, and although its faded quite a bit over recent years - it feels freshly taped on my back this week. In different ways several people I know have said the same thing after the shooting which has been rolling around in my brain. From someone who has shared a lot of posts through the years the target I see on your back is for compassion and empathy. So for whatever support a semi-anonymous person can send your way, it's there. Perhaps we are doing better as a society when one group is specifically targeted and those feelings are felt well beyond those that are targeted. The broader and deeper those ripples are felt the more together we become as a nation.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) So my baby boy #2 came last week. The first 2-3 nights were instant reminders of how much getting up every hour sucked. But since then, this guy is only getting up once every 2-3 hours. Last night my wife fed him at 11:30, he got up at 2:30 and ate again and then didn't get up until we woke him up at 6:45. *knocks on wood* Hopefully the good luck continues! Congratulations. Our 10 month old grandson came to visit yesterday while mom and dad worked. I forgot how exhausting a kid can be. Plus he wasn't feeling well.
