Something I thought to do this time when changing the door lock. I decided to not rekey to my old lock. I started fresh with a new key. I labeled the two keys that came with the lock and immediately went and had copies made. I have a list stored of who will be getting a key plus I have the originals in original condition when I need to make any replacements. It seems like copies of copies always have glitches "just wiggle it a little bit"
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 05:34 PM) I don't think I'd forgive the best man. I don't think I'd let him be my best man after that. That's just insane posse. Great post. Nothing good comes out of talking about a bachelor party. People will be satisfied if EVERYBODY says you played cards and ordered a pizza. Anybody that says what really happens at one of the wilder bachelor parties should be ashamed of himself. You can get grooms in a lot of trouble just by saying there were strippers. What wild bachelor party? We played cards and ordered a pizza
  3. At his age his family may not have moved with him.
  4. I'm with Jenks on this one. Everyone who gives away money has something they want in return. If he was financing a suit against an evil chemical company whose business practices resulted in poor people dying, we'd erect a statue. Take on polluting loggers who decimate a salmon fishery, hold a parade, take on an entertaining web site of dubious ethics that we all enjoy reading? Whoa . . . I trust our legal system and the checks and balances that have been put in place. I would also be interested if anyone has proposed legislation making a full disclosure of the financial arrangements of plaintiffs and defendants a requirement of civil suits.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 06:56 PM) Nice Tex! How long do you expect the project to take? QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:20 PM) Going to need pics when done It took us three days. I'll try to post a pick. I also built a little ramp / deck at my shed. The drywall guy is here repairing some ceiling damage, a plumber will be replacing my water heater, I'm replacing the locks at my front door, that cheap s*** Kwikset suddenly stopped working. Lots of projects going.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 08:55 AM) 3 starts ago James Shields had a 3.06 era. Literally half of the earned runs that James Shields has given up this entire season, were given up in his last 3 starts. (23 of 45) That doesn't scream gradual decline. That screams red flag. For refernce's sake, since everyone love to point at John Danks as some sort of reference point for suck, the most ER he ever gave up in 3 consecutive starts was 17, which happened to be right before he had shoulder surgery. Well thank you for that little ray of sunshine.
  7. I had two bachelor parties for my first wedding. One was at a Sox game with my dad, father in law, and about twenty friends and family. Everyone was welcome. The second was a smaller invite list and was was exactly like every other bachelor party that my friends had. We did it ten times at least. Each time was exactly the same. We played cards and ordered pizza. My advice to all the guys his have a standard bachelor party plan that everyone can memorize and repeat even under duress. Kind of like name, rank, and serial number. We played cards and ordered a pizza. We played cards and ordered a pizza. Never embellish, never add details. We played cards and ordered a pizza. No strippers. We played cards and ordered a pizza.
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 11:02 AM) Is anyone here familiar with contract law? I'd be curious whether a person who is highly intoxicated can have their agreement to a contract invalidated. My insurance agent mentioned that if he knows someone is drunk he can not write a policy. I'm not certain if that is state law or company policy.
  9. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 07:31 AM) I would agree. I also think the blame is just as much on the GM ( whoever that really is) for giving Robin a flawed roster. Every team has a flawed roster, well 30 or so do. It's up to the manager to maximize the good and minimize the flaws over the course of a long season. Which means flaws play sometimes.
  10. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) At my campground a couple of weeks ago I had a friend tell me about a website that will let you know when the ISS will be visible. He said that it would be visible that night at 9:02 PM for about 6-7 minutes traveling from the SE to the NW. It was a perfectly clear night so we stood out and watched and sure enough at 9:02 we saw it. We got to watch it travel across the entire sky. It was pretty cool. Mike Fossum is from where I was living and we have a few mutual friends from Boy Scouts. I happened to be a one friend's house when Mike called him. I look at the other guy there and said "I thought he was flying". He was calling from the ISS. As a kid growing up in the 1960s that was pretty cool.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) Got an Extreme 5 and it keeps ice in it for 4-5 days just sitting on my back porch. And less than $100. That's what we bought. I'm taking our old one and building a cedar and corrugated metal stand for it. It should work great as a backyard party chest.
  12. These are our neighbors, our co workers, the guy or gal that makes our internet work, teaches our children, cooks our food, takes care of us when we are sick, we say hello on the sidewalk. Now fifty have been killed and we focus on the rippling affect throughout our society. Hopefully those ripples take out the hate, the blind f***ing hate in this world.

I'm excited. The lumber company just dropped off a couple thousand dollars worth of cedar and metal roofing. My brother-in-law and I will be starting on my back patio roof and makeover. I'm seriously looking at a grillzebo next with the cost savings from the roof project. I'm going for a kind of Texas hill country feel for the back yard.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 06:11 PM) There is a big difference behind an erosion, and a huge hit to the fan base, ala White Flag. White Sox fans are a bitter lot, and would absolutely flee in droves over another massive sell off. They would come here and post
  15. QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 06:02 PM) I'm starting to think these guys are really trying to be competitive to save their jobs... we are doing nothing but losing but they are trying to add add add. There are holes that everyone knew would be there. I wonder if that guy that was cut because of his kid is available?
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 06:02 PM) Yes you're right. I should say, there are boundaries, trying to alter history like it is an Orwell novel isn't cool.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 06:02 PM) x2
  18. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 06:00 PM) That may be true but honestly given the past nine (soon to be ten) seasons I wonder if that opinion remains in play. There may be more fans now willing to 'blow it up' and start over of course with a different front office making the decisions. Mark I believe you have to look at the fans in groups. A lot of people buy tickets and go a baseball game or two during the year. They may go to the Sox or they may go to the Cubs, or Kane County, it really doesn't matter to them. They just like the show. We may pejoratively label them as fair weather fans, but I think of them more like movie goers. They may like a certain actor, but they also just enjoy going to a movie. You lose those ticket buyer with any rebuilding. The hard core fan base, the season ticket holders, and probably a lot of people here, are more willing to sit through a rebuilding. But many posters here could actually name the Sox affiliates and a few of the players.
  19. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:57 PM) Isn't that cute. Using your admin privileges like that. You showed me!! Actually anyone can do that. After you hit reply just go in and make any changes. After 12 years here you should know that by now!
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) If the Sox did sign Morneau, they would probably have the best 2010 roster in baseball. This made me laugh, then cry.
  21. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:51 PM) yes, Jay bruce is the difference maker. Keep throwing good money after bad, Kenny Hahn. As soon as they print the standings on the financial pages, I'll care more about them trying to win this year by spending money.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:28 PM) One thing I can say with confidence is that this team is not "THIS" bad. They're 6-19 in their last 25 games. Barring a whole bunch of injuries I have confidence this team will not remain a sub-.250 winning percentage team the rest of the year. Chris Sale will not win only nine games - as of tomorrow it will be 3 weeks since his last win. That won't continue the entire year. Jose Quintana will win at least 4 more to get himself to his usual 9 wins. At some point this will flip back to more "normal" in at least some ways. That may not make them a competitive team, but they're not the worst team in baseball. Agreed. I also don't expect them to have another super hot streak like they did to start the season. I expected them to compete into September, I still believe they can.
  23. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:20 PM) I think I understand what you mean. I think the easiest answer is just that getting behind the wheel of a car while drunk can have severe ramifications on everyone around you, and its one of the main causes of death in the country. Whereas if someone is drinking and puts themselves in a risky situation like hooking up with someone they dont know they still arent putting anyone else at risk. There are great reasons why we do that, and it is really the only way to handle it. Perhaps coming at it this way will make the most sense. It seems like everyone around the drunk is responsible for their safety *unless* they get behind the wheel of a car, then it's totally on the drunk. And again, not specific to this case and I probably should have started a different thread.
  24. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:09 PM) Making out with someone should never be putting yourself in a dangerous position and I think that line of thought is dangerous. Agreed. The more I try to state my case the less clear and further away from my point I get.
  25. I agree. Maybe another way to say this is in one case we protect the drunk from their actions, in the other we don't. The additional of another party is the big difference.
