  1. Within 24 hours I will be posting four different choices to be debated. The first two people to respond will have a chance to debate their choice. The opening round will be three rounds. By that I mean that each person will have a chance to post three times before the debate is closed. After that a poll will be opened to determine the winner. The four winners will face off against each other over two more topics, with the final two coming after that. The first four topics come from the areas of public policy, food and drink, and travel and entertainment. I avoided any topics that would be divided by political ideology. Or any division I could instantly think of, so it should be entertaining. I am leaving some of this to chance, please only respond to one of the questions. I am not going to set a min or max length of the posts, just remember if they become too long people will stop reading. Remember I am using a poll to determine wins and loses, that is about the messiest way possible, but you are being judged by your peers. As a preview, the topics I will be using for the opening round Dollar bill v. dollar coin Thin crust v. deep dish Beer v. coffee New Years Eve in Times Square v. romantic mountain cabin Remember it will be first come first served in each debate. Once someone picks a side you will have to take the other choice. Since some people here will debate anything, I doubt we will have a problem finding participants. My thoughts are to toughen up the topic for the second and final rounds. Comments? Thoughts? Ideas?
  2. They need US style pornography, that honors women like nothing else.
  3. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 11:34 AM) I would love to spend a significant amout of time in Alaska, but my wife who is literally allergic to cold (no bull — her body generates an inflammatory response similar to an immune response with prolonged exposure to cold air or water) would never go for it. My ex was the opposite, she could not handle the heat. Best thing I ever did was moving to South Texas
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) My college blocks internet connection from game consoles And no one has found a way around it? What kind of idiots do have have at that school?
  5. It says a lot when people will laugh at the joke, do you really want your fate decided by people too stupid to get out of jury duty?
  6. Put him anywhere that someone will call KW and ask for him.
  7. Dick Clark is dead and we can't ring in the New Year!? Well played Mayans, well played.
  8. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 09:23 PM) I should add that I actually like this subforum, but being active and posting a lot isn't a license to break the rules. 1. I will not insult other posters, directly or indirectly 3. I will not bait people or push them over the line (a.k.a. pushing their buttons) 4. I will not post statements for the purpose of angering others 5. I will not prod posters repeatedly on a subject or chase them across topics to make a point I could find numerous examples of these rules being broken again and again by the same people - people with 10K or more posts who differ politically and go around and around in almost every thread in the filibuster. It may be ok between the people involved, buts it's tiring when it's the same two people making the same handful of points repeatedly. You name the topic, and I pretty much know how the most active people in this subforum will feel before I even enter the thread. Just my two cents. We agree.

    I hope you are posting again soon.
  10. I am happy to see the resignations that have been coming in. While it is legal where they were, it is clearly not the right thing to do. I wish the culture changes even quicker. But outside every military base I've been around are cheap bars, and prostitutes.
  11. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) Unfortunately, the loudest voices in these "discussions" are often moderators. The loudest voices in almost every forum or subforum are moderators. Two factors to becomming a mod is longevity and how active you are. So we are active and have posted a lot for a long time. As far as standards we do not publically announce when a poster is suspended, however, I can assure you that mods and admins have been suspended. We never consider a mod to be "above the rules". Actually in a few cases mods have suspended themselves.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 10:27 AM) Since when is "almost 31" considered too old to go out and party? Maybe if he was 51. And BTW f*** you
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 11:43 AM) I don't like the idea of employers directly subsidizing a civic duty. But if the government would tax the wealthy like it should they could ultimately be defraying the cost of such a program. Good point. I always thought it was more a case of allowing a few more vacation days, but your way is really valid.
  14. Easyily one of my all time favorite Sox players.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) Even then, the Sox aren't the one year contract for a pitcher type. I hadn't really thought about that end of the startegy. We all know the reluctance to enter into four or five year deals, but there hasn't been too many one year types either.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 11:47 PM) Bring on tapatalk! x2
  17. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) Fix the Search Function, Jason! You jerk! (oh wait is that too specific to one person?) Using google's option to search within the site works ojk for some stuff. I know it isn't perfect, but it isn't that bad.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:03 PM) 0/5 with 4ks is pretty much the same no matter how much you're getting paid. But the difference between the expectation and that is different. The 25 mil franchise player has a different expectation than the utility player, as you rightfully pointed out. So while we would consider .250 a solid season for a player developing, we wouldn't find that acceptable for the $25mil player. In other words a "bad day" for Konerko should be better than a bad day for (insert league min development project player). At some point yes, it's a bad day for either one. 1-4 leaving three runners stranded may be a bad day for Pujols, but an acceptable day for (fill in here) is my point.
  19. How many people here could be on any of those juries and be fair.
