Sox to recognize two studs in Dodger series
The more I think about it, the more I am warming up to the idea. And they did play key roles on the team. I fully expected a very nice reception from the fans.

Sox to recognize two studs in Dodger series
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ May 20, 2011 -> 09:08 AM) Nice gesture by the . What are they gonna do otherwise, ignore them? Treat them the same as every other player on an opposing team? It's been six years. Maybe you do something the following season if they were gone, but it's been too long. I like the gesture, but not sox years later.

Who is the oldest Soxtalk poster?
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 19, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) I built the forum at 17 and have broke it off and on over the years. I learned the truth at 17 . . .

Most ignored SoxTalk poster
QUOTE (Maxwell @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:04 AM) I wish I could ignore some of the mods and admin. I'd rather not read the exuded arrogance or observe them not following their own rules. Behind the scenes, mods and admins who do not follow the rules get blasted pretty hard by the others. One thing to consider, because we spend a lot of time discussing what is allowed and what is not allowed, we know where the line is and can do a very nice job of toeing the line. Speaking for myself, I have stepped over that line and was suspended for it. And please use the report a post feature when you believe anyone, including a mod, is ignoring the rules.

Most ignored SoxTalk poster
I use the ignore function but not because someone is a poor poster, it is usually good posters who we've happened to be on opposite sides of a couple threads and I'd rather allow things to die down. Currently I have Milkman on ignore, but "peek" at a few of his posts in some threads, just not in the 'buster. Now a feature I would really like is a force ignore where I could have some people ignore my posts.

Future of protein production?
I am wondering if those people who object to the slaughter of animals for protein would eat this? I assume those rejecting animal protein for health reasons would probably still abstain.

from About Us Delanceyplace is a brief daily email with an excerpt or quote we view as interesting or noteworthy, offered with commentary to provide context. There is no theme, except that most excerpts will come from a non-fiction work, mainly works of history, are occasionally controversial, and we hope will have a more universal relevance than simply the subject of the book from which they came. Ozzie vs Soxtalk
So how does a major franchise wind up with a manager and a GM who 2/3 or more of the amateurs can outperform them at their jobs?

Sox to recognize two studs in Dodger series
Hey look, it's Garland and Uribe". OK, we recognized them. We were distracted for a couple seconds, now explain the under .500 team you got on the field.

Quietly so no one sees . . .
Hell of a game last night, I wish I could have seen it. But I was busy with that sloppy Bulls game and Criminal Minds

JAKE F'N PEAVY!!!
I'm hoping it sparks something. Being .500 at the All-Star Break would be nice. I actually could see them a few games over .500, but I like setting expectations low.

Who is the oldest Soxtalk poster?
There are a couple guys older than me. I believe BigEd and possible YASNY. I'll be 50 this fall.

Ozzie vs Soxtalk
Since there was such good discussion regarding K-Dubya, I thought an Ozzie discussion could plow some new fields. Once again, how are the amateurs doing against the guy that gets paid the big bucks to guide the Sox? For the record, I've become a bit of an Oz.

X-tra is popular in advertising. As is lite, d-lux and various other bastardizations of spelling.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
This series is hard to watch. I really, really, dislike the way the Heat were put together. Plus, I spent a lot of years in the second balcony at the old stadium.

Should Government have this power?
Would you want your state to use every option possible to keep jobs in your area? Thinking about the people and politicians being left behind, I understand why governments want laws like this.

Have they cured AIDS...?
THat would be what, about 30 years of research? I'm not sure if I am amazed it took only thirty years or sad.

$14,289,000,000,000.00 not enough credit . . .
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2011 -> 09:19 AM) Which would you prefer to leave people of future generations, no debt and no jobs, or debt but a solid job market? Are those the only two options you know of?

$14,289,000,000,000.00 not enough credit . . .
Y'all keep saying pyramid in regards to SS, but our entire budget is a pyramid. $14 trillion and climbing debt. As we increase the debt, we are counting on more people to pay taxes, to shoulder the debt. It is always someone else paying the taxes, in this case, someone not even born.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) aka, how are you going to continue to prop up the pyramid. You mean the entire US budget? Simple, we reduce taxes on the wealthiest Americans and the middle class so other people will start paying more taxes.

Osama Bin Laden Dead
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 16, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) You mean how she says it was a victory? Technically, it was a homicide. Some people interchange that with murder, though they really have different connotations. I really think this is a non-issue. My school filter blocks searching for the difference, could you share?
