Who is the oldest Soxtalk poster?
There are a couple guys older than me. I believe BigEd and possible YASNY. I'll be 50 this fall.

Ozzie vs Soxtalk
Since there was such good discussion regarding K-Dubya, I thought an Ozzie discussion could plow some new fields. Once again, how are the amateurs doing against the guy that gets paid the big bucks to guide the Sox? For the record, I've become a bit of an Oz.

X-tra is popular in advertising. As is lite, d-lux and various other bastardizations of spelling.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
This series is hard to watch. I really, really, dislike the way the Heat were put together. Plus, I spent a lot of years in the second balcony at the old stadium.

Should Government have this power?
Would you want your state to use every option possible to keep jobs in your area? Thinking about the people and politicians being left behind, I understand why governments want laws like this.

Have they cured AIDS...?
THat would be what, about 30 years of research? I'm not sure if I am amazed it took only thirty years or sad.

$14,289,000,000,000.00 not enough credit . . .
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2011 -> 09:19 AM) Which would you prefer to leave people of future generations, no debt and no jobs, or debt but a solid job market? Are those the only two options you know of?

Y'all keep saying pyramid in regards to SS, but our entire budget is a pyramid. $14 trillion and climbing debt. As we increase the debt, we are counting on more people to pay taxes, to shoulder the debt. It is always someone else paying the taxes, in this case, someone not even born.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) aka, how are you going to continue to prop up the pyramid. You mean the entire US budget? Simple, we reduce taxes on the wealthiest Americans and the middle class so other people will start paying more taxes.

Osama Bin Laden Dead
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 16, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) You mean how she says it was a victory? Technically, it was a homicide. Some people interchange that with murder, though they really have different connotations. I really think this is a non-issue. My school filter blocks searching for the difference, could you share?

Time to raise the debt ceiling again? This will be ten times since 2001. Standard and Poors issued a negative outlook for US debt. The AAA rating could be a thing of the past if the US defaults on loans. Today will probably be the day we reach the newest cap. But hey, without showing the world we can handle large debt and making on-time payments, we'll have to pay higher interest rates when we buy small countries. Why don't teams steal 2nd every time against us?
QUOTE (Tex @ May 16, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) It's damn near 100% because teams know who to send. Which is about half of their line up.

K-Dubya vs. Soxtalk
Currently it looks like 17 people believe they have done as well or better than KW and only 5 believe they have done worse. Even taking in account that the average poster here knows way more than the average baseball fan, that is a pretty dismal showing for KW.

Should Government have this power?
It is an interesting legal challenge, but one that I believe will be resolved in Boeing's favor. In answer to your question, yes, the government should have regulations on where businesses locate. But in this case, the government should allow Boeing to move.

Very funny. But y'll know, I don't support a losing baseball team.

Overall an exciting 70-72nd hole. Then Toms snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

K-Dubya vs. Soxtalk
BTW the point I was making is that Williams is a mediocre GM at best.

K-Dubya vs. Soxtalk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) I threw a holy fit. IIRC you also said that a change in scenery would really help BMac and it was probably best for him.

My oh my what a terrible putt by Toms

K-Dubya vs. Soxtalk
And I'm not suggesting he sucks or is the worse GM in baseball. I think he's about average. Plus, we don't know what trades he's been offered and passed on. Perhaps that could add to or subtract from his job performance.

K-Dubya vs. Soxtalk
Nothing I can do about that. If I posted Williams was doing a good job people would think I was mocking, if I post he's doing a terrible job, people will think I am mocking. I believe the first blame goes to the players, but Williams deserves to be taking a lot more heat than it seems he is. I had not added it up until now, but I know we've had people here that have called trades mistakes right away, and applauded some as well. I was wondering how many have consistently beat him at this, and this proved it to me.
