QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) I don't think writing a book advocating the subject is illegal. Actually a how to break the law book may actually be illegal.

Miller Lite may make the list of favorite beers and FlaSoxxjim will weep for those those tastebuds.

http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/20...tinue-u-s-judge Seems Joe Miller (TEA Party) wants only those votes with perfect spelling to count and Merkowsky Murkowski ® wants those votes whose intent is clear to count.

Yeah he f***ed up. Not as bad as a rapist or other violent criminal, but he f***ed up. He will have a punishment to pay, then I hope he can get his life back togther.

Another listserv I belong to sent the story about these http://exhibitions.cooperhewitt.org/Why-De...parts-incubator Basically Doctors noticed that in developing countries, expensive medical equipment would fail and there would not be any trained technicians to fix them. They designed this to replace a $40,000 version that was difficult to maintain. I used it as an example for my students of why I love to learn. Discovering a simple back-invented item like this I find really cool.

I've read a couple longish articles and watched a documentary on the sinking. I might search out a couple today.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) I don't understand the thinking behind that. I haven't had insurance for many years simply because we couldn't afford it. So because of that, I haven't been to the doctor for years. I'm worried to go get checked out for anything because if they find something then suddenly I have a pre-existing condition. If I do have something and don't know it, does it count as a pre-existing condition? Yes. No. It could be up to a judge to decide at some point. Hence the problem with the old system. An insurer could deny coverage, then you could gamble on an attorney to contest it.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 07:20 AM) And they have no idea how lucky they are! P.S. I like the way you think — you can be my Secret Santa any time! We made a little trip to our local higher end liquor store. She who must be kept happy plopped $120 worth of new supplies in the cart. I love this woman. Nothing out of the norm, just a regular restocking. She said we can build around those this month. My challenge is to keep finding drinks on the slightly sweet side of things. An ameretto sour filled the bill last night. Which reminds me, for mixing, are some of the other brands acceptable? I always buy Disarrono, but I noticed a couple other bottles at almost half the price.

Zero chance we land someone on the sun, even if we go at night.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) Thanks for all the info, Y2HH. I'll add one thing that I thought was demonstrably good in the bill - protecting those with pre-existing conditions. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 09:41 AM) Like trying to buy a bullet proof vest after you have already been shot. While I like protecting those with preexisting conditions, there must be a provision where you have coverage before an event. I do not want to see people decline coverage when healthy, wait until something happens, then buy insurance. I could see people signing up for insurance as they are beinf wheeled into the ER.

December and a two week break can't get here soon enough. I'm already thinking past the Thanksgiving break.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 12:49 AM) Epic Hooch Win! I picked up a bottle of Martinique Rhum Clement Canne for $15 at a local grocery chain liquor store. The stuff is usually more than twice that price which keeps me from stocking the home bar with it. Great first press sugar cane rhum agricole. . . lots of grassy vegetal funk and tons of mixable possibilities. My dilemma now is there are two more bottles on the shelf at the same ridiculous clearance price. Do I blow my monthly booze allowance and pick them up at a steal or do I content myself with the one bottle and then kick myself in a few weeks when I run out? Neither, that is an early Christmas gift for the family.

Our rates dropped slightly for individual, oncreased slightly for family coverage. We also switched providers to Blue Cross Blue Shield. And IIRC this is the first time in years I have not seen an increase in premiums.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) The bolded really doesn't make much sense, he's only had one pitching-related injury. But I agree with your general point, that it isn't even so much a question of if he comes back healthy... its more about, if/when he does, will he be the same pitcher? My feeling is that he will profile like many pitchers after TJ or other major surgeries, where his first year back is a struggle, but second year back he has a good chance of fully rebounding. I agree 99% with this, but the rest of the body has to work also. For example, leg injuries lead to adjustments that lead to more adjustments, etc. Which leads to my pessimism with him. And I am usually the ray of sunshine with this kind of stuff.
