  1. I'm just so jaded by anything Walker says. What is he really looking for? More of what we've been doing for the past five years?

  3. And cruise ships are still docking in Haiti. Tourists having fun while the ship offloads relief supplies. Seems wrong on the surface, but the island does need cold hard cash and the tourism industry is very necessary to their economy. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jan/1...aiti-earthquake
  4. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 08:31 AM) I think he was talking about the comments made by Olbermann being completely intolerant, from the guy/party who does nothing but talk about tolerance. Exactly, I got that. But if Olbermann was run out of the party, wouldn't that in itself be intolerant of his views? See, both bases are covered. Well played.
  5. I applaud him for speaking his beliefs. I'm not a big fan of that group, but if their mission statement involves witnessing to the largest possible audience, they will have succeeded. I am also glad a group is using that platform for something of more substance than which beer to drink or car to buy.
  6. He is getting older. He also seems to have the character and attitude that will carry him through the rough stretches and probably work hard this off season.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 07:55 AM) My experience was otherwise, the couple times I met him. But its entirely possible he was a jerk at other times, I have no idea. I kind of liked that he was a jerk when necessary, like with that loser Neon Deion.
  8. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) No this is just my opinion. It's just how I FEEL that he's a tool... Like the Deion Sanders incident - I'm no Deion Sanders fan, but I wish he would have punched Fisk right in his grill and told him to mind his own damn business and worry about his own teamates. I guess it depends on how much respect you have for the game of baseball and the 100+ year traditions.
  9. If you begin discussing the best starting rotations in baseball it won't take long to get to the Sox. I can't complain. As the question marks are answered, we'll see how we rank. Seems to me that health is always the difining factor.

    friends don't let friends post in boring threads.
  11. QUOTE (since56 @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 10:59 PM) The white sox did not win with Thome. That is the truth. Winning the world sieries is the only win. If you think winning 90 games or a division is winning maybe you belong in wrigley where they accept losing and losers. Then by your definition, you are right, they did not win with Thome. Based on the other 99% of fans and how they define winning, they did win with Thome. It's all in how you define the words. I believe there is a huge difference in lsoing a World Series and losing 100 games. One helps build confidence, craetes higher and higher expectations, and the other breeds distrust, a losing expectation, and a revolving door of players and coaches. I could go on but if you do not see any value in winning a division or even a wild card, that's your opinion and you are welcome to it.

  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) RE: McGwire: "That's a crock"
  15. There hasn't been an surprises in the contracts, so they are still working with about the same money as at the start of the season. If anything, this may make it easier if they werre hanging some DH money aside incase it took more for these guys.

    QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 01:30 PM) Can we consider a "Prince Albert?" Decided to fix your post . . .
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) That's all of that tolerance we are always hearing about... Tough situation, we toss him out and we're not tolerant of his opinions. Leave him "in" and we're branded as intolerant. Well played 2k5
  18. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) I was one that had extremely high hopes for her not so long ago. However, she has jumped on the 'rouge' persona the media helped create for her and ran with it, and that just doesn't govern well in my eyes. I still think she is alot sharper than most liberals gove her credit for, but would rather see someone else there. Isn't it about time for a Washington outsider to clean up this town? She is very sharp, and while the media can try all they want to discredit here, she's going to be a force in the next election. She is not going away, and only getting stronger. She links up with the right campaign team and katy bar the door.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) You are damned right I am. There is no coincidence that the more money is drained from the private sector, and the smaller the percentage of people paying taxes gets, the less jobs that gets created by those same sectors. I am sincerely trying to follow you here, and perhaps this is a needless tangent, but one of my concerns is outsourcing jobs by the private sector. How would that be factored in? My thinking is the government would be more likely to keep the jobs local. So what good is a recovery in the private sector if the jobs added/saved are in India?
  20. Now that my clock goes off at 5:05 am, I could care less who is on past 10:00 pm. I am so damn old.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) Dye turned down $3ish million from Texas. That means he is still looking for more money, I would agree for 99% of the players out there. Dye has shown that money is not always his #1 concern. Likely it is, but in this case, possible not.
  22. Not doing anything is always the easier way. I just have a feeling the goal is Kong at DH.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) Who was it in here that recently seemed convinced Palin would be our next President? I can't find the post, but I thought this was worth noting... She can't even get her own party to have more than 30% support for her to RUN, let alone win. I think she will run, and run well. I would not be surprised if she is the nominee.

    QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 11:40 AM) Ahh, okay then. I guess Jason didn't need any advice. Before we accept that, maybe he did need some advice.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 09:39 AM) Be careful how you make that statement. In reality the further up the ladder you go, the less of a percentage of funds is spent at the respective tax brackets. Now job creation is a different story, because these ARE the classes that create jobs, because they are the ones who can afford to take the risk of starting a small business. Largly you are correct, but many successful small businesses have been started with almost nothing. Not improtant to this thread, but I always enjoy the person who starts with $300 and an idea and makes it work.
