Thanks. I reinstalled my download helper and it worked. It also has a function to auto convert, which is nice. So it is working like a charm and my students will see a Hawk Anthem and Hendrix at Woodstock.

My gf decided this should be added because she thinks it's excessive. Backpacking and hiking I always carry Nalgene water containers, I don't trust other brands. I also wrap three turns of duct tape around at least a couple. Always three turns. She wrapped one and watched as I redid it.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 07:44 PM) There's only 1 sense in which that was a failure of intelligence... There is also a case that the intelligence was correct, but key people ignore or mislead people about what it said.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 20, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) Does anyone else almost always wake up feeling guilty after a night of drinking? I don't know why, but I always feel like I did something wrong. Yes, but I probably did. I also laugh when I wake up feeling s***ty and think, why the hell did I drink that much? Than realize I had not been drinking at all.

I'd love to know all the details of the negotiations to pull off a four team trade like this.

Is there anything the government does worse than 30 years ago? Is there anything the government should stay out of?

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 12:01 PM) He's being mocked because all he does is talk about improving how the government operates, he doesn't actually do anything to back up his promises. It's a big government that took a long time to get in this shape. And, in the end, no one person in our system has enough power to make radical changes overnight. First order of business for a President should be to set the goal and start lining up support. I thought Bush did that well with his faith based initiatives. He fell far short of his stated goals, but still made some nice changes. But to get 1% you sometimes have to try for 100%

QUOTE (Soxy @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) This. I always set my alarm for a palindrome. OMG, I just realized I do this.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 11:37 AM) And that's just what the most ethical, transparant congress evah wants. It will be unprecidented! I wish Obama was more like past Presidents and wouldn't even try to improve how the government operates. Why he sets himself for being mocked is beyond my comprehension.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) You do realize by heaping more and more costs on to the classes that actually hire people in this country the government is going to force more jobs out of the country, not less. I realize that working without health benefits is impossible for many people. This cuts small business off from some of the best talent available. Their employees either have to have spouses with insurance, they need to pay them enough to purchase insurance at individual rates, or do without and hope.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 20, 2009 -> 06:04 PM) "we're all just global citizens"... my gosh that thinking sucks. Kap, I'm hooked. What do you mean?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 20, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) Maybe in the meantime they can start collecting taxes from the whole world to pay for all of that freedom? Are you suggesting that Iraq should pay for a war that was, in part, to protect them from Cruel and Unusual Punishment? I agree! Why again did you urge us to help in Bosnia? Again the 8th Amendment would seem to apply. Why were we so outraged at Tienanmen Square? Was it because China did not tolerate Freedom of Speech?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) Right. Because that's economically feasible...in fantasy land. I honestly can't wait for all of these "benefits" to start kicking in on people -- and the taxes, fees, and other unforeseen nonsense that goes on to skim as much money from everyone as possible. Then the overdue and "accidental" fines people will undoubtedly receive for not having insurance...when they actually have it, then having to fight that for 2 years, amongst a myriad of other issues I can't even begin to think of yet. It's going to be fun to watch the complaints I'm sure to see in 5 years time. Hey, you wanted reform -- and now you're going to get it...whether it's good or not. Be careful what you wish for. I have been noticing for the past couple of years how one side wants the other side to fail so they can say "I told you so!". Dems want Reps to fail, Reps want Dems to fail. What does that say about this country and what political parties have done? I think ol' George Washington was correct when he warned the country about the dangers of political parties. Too bad the us versus them mentality replaced the "I don't agree with this, but I sure hope it works, for all our sakes".

Somewhere between our government sucks at everything and can't solve any problems and the government is perfect and can solve all problems is reality. One of the clearest areas that government can help involves scale. When the problem is best handled with scale, that is where the government can, and should, be involved. So a national defense instead of each state having a militia makes sense. Same with health care. Bigger insurance groups survive better than smaller groups. Spreading the risk over a wider area works better than individual. The market tells us that with rates. I believe in America and Americans and know we can make this work. I believe we can create a better system. I also think we need to keep an eye on what helps small business. Most groups plans cost over $500 per month for family coverage, actually closer to $800. That is $4 per hour based on a 40 hour week. That is getting dangerously close to minimum wage. Imagine working 40 just to pay insurance. Imagine being a small business and trying to offer that to employees earning $10 an hour ($20K/year) Fix health care, make working for small business a viable option, reduce dependence on the multinational companies that outsource over seas, makes a lot of sense to me. And are the Iraq and Afghanistan wars unfunded mandates?

Currently I am wearing out Parrotheads in Cowboy Boots by J. Micheal Laferty. Find Me fits so perfect with the way I am feeling right now. I spent a lot of this year reconnecting with some old favorites and catching a lot of live music on South Padre.

I believe the Bill of Rights are unalienable rights that all humans should have. When we travel the globe holding up our form of government and telling everyone this is the best way, we then should apply those rights to everyone we can. Otherwise, we are admitting this isn't the best system. So I am in favor of due process, speedy trials, and all of the rights we hold dear to us. And when we elevate it to all humans we elevate ourselves as well. Shining that light of democracy for all the world to see. When we decide which humans it should apply to, we expose ourselves as self serving hypocrites.
