  1. QUOTE (Texsox @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 09:35 AM) I gained Jim's loss. Cleaning my frige of bad food. Now I'm ready. Start weight: 226 Current weight: 227 Goal weight: 190 lbs lost: +1 lbs to go: 37 Long story short, I ballooned up to 238, since I have been teaching I lost 11 pounds and went searching for this post. Ughh. I thought I had made some progress. But things are looking up.
  2. Maybe, but I still can spend my summers on the beach.
  3. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 08:29 PM) A two girls, one cup tea set. SS2k5 reads his posts . . . on just 10,245 CDs

    Job Offer Question

    QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) First day was good. Typical of 1st days, though, I'm sure. Spent over an hour with the HR woman filling out paperwork and stuff like that. Did some actual work, though (while being supervised by the old intern who's training me before he leaves). Met some people around the office. Today was much better though. Yesterday was just really boring at times. But today I did a bunch reports that I had to send out to different managers, so that took the entire morning and kept me busy. Also had to call a lady at another company about getting a shipment of ours cleared through customs to get it to a distribution center of ours by tomorrow. It was "snack day" at the office too, so everyone brought different foods so lunch was awesome. I contributed Christmas cookies. Met the main boss at my office and he was a really nice guy, so that's good. Everyone seems to be pretty close knit there. I think I'm going to like it. That is awesome. Congrats.
  6. Talk about pork barrel spending; nothing like helping his home state. Who will be applying for prison guard positions?
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 07:07 PM) I really don't know how you can say they are better now than they were on October 4. They might be, they might not be. The Sox were 7 games worse than MN. I know the popular position to take is Quentin will be healthy, Beckham will be around an entire year, Rios will be improved, Jenks will be better, the rotation is great and no one will get hurt, Teahan will shine away from KC, Putz will be the 2006-7 JJ Putz, etc. But can't Minnesota say the same thing? Mauer missed a month. Mourneau missed a month. JJ Hardy has just a good a chance to snap back as anyone the White Sox have acquired. People make a lot out of them moving out of the dome and losing their big advantage, but the dome had nothing to do with their kicking the White Sox around there in 2009, and their line-up has seemingly evolved to make them ready for the move outdoors. They have a pretty nice line-up. I would imagine the will have Slowey back as he missed half the season. The Sox still need a lot more offense. As soon as they get at least another significant bat, I will be optimistic. Nice analysis, well written. I disagree on a few points. Yes, both teams can make similar claims, that's why they play the games. By the time spring training comes around, the talking heads will pick the Sox anywhere from 1st to 3rd and someone will even predict 4th. We'll call them all idiots unless they have the Sox #1. The point that NSS made, that I thought is valid, is each move for the past six months has improved the team. Even if they stopped here, the team is better. With the tone, it would seem like we took steps backwards. Perhaps the strides aren't bigger, but that level of improvement by trade is tough and almost never happens.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 06:54 PM) I find it bizarre that with each move the Sox make, they get a little better, and yet the posts in PHT get more and more over-the-top mad. I'd think it would be the reverse. Weird. We do still need one more bat upgrade, at DH or elsewhere, though. And a backup C, though I think we have options in house for that which I'd be fine with. What happens with that extra bat, though, I think will give us the best picture of the offseason overall.
  9. With as often as the guys *ahem*, around here, I'm surprised that actually reproducing is even considered.
  10. dear soxtalk, I hope you have a nice Christmas
  11. shame it is ending this way. I had some hope for 2009-2010
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) Ozz, I own the site and I can't stand the compressed threads but most everyone has voiced that it is what the majority has preferred. If people come out and say they prefer it the other way, I'd be find going that direction too. We do whatever you guys/gals ask for, withing reason of course. Ozz, what Chisoxfn meant was, and what he would have said if he had a publicist writing his responses . . . Ozz, I have the honor and privilege of owning this site. Please be assured that I share your view that multiple threads would make browsing easier. However, through the years, the majority of people who post here have preferred the catch all style threads. If enough people who post here write to me and express that they prefer multiple threads, I would be fine with making a switch. My staff and I do whatever you guys/gals ask for, within reason of course. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and opinions. I am humbled that so many people care so much about this site and take the time, like you did, to offer such fine advice. Go Sox!

  15. Boy. Girl. Done Two hands - two Kids Two of us - two of them Two car windows - two kids Two just seems like the best number. Now I kind of wish there had been a different egg donor, but that is a different story.
  16. $75,000,000.00?! You are f***ing kidding me. Adding up what other cities must have spent, including cities that didn't even make the finals, and easily over half a billion dollars was spent? wtf?
