Healthcare reform
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 02:21 PM) So I still have not had it explained to me how we are adding 50,000,000 million people to the system, while having, at most, the same number of doctors, nurses, and facilities, without having longer delays, and less care. If you can explain it, I would love to hear it. Are you talking about those that visit emergency rooms for common ailments, and use services without paying? People are still using services. Shall we discuss what will happen with costs when the hospitals and doctors are reimbursed for that care? Discuss what it does for ER rooms when non emergency matters can be handled by a more appropriate doctor visit or "doc in a box"?

Favorite U.S. Cities to Visit
Austin Chicago L.A. I am more a wilderness guy. When I day dream about places to visit, they rarely are cities. Actually, it is never a city.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) They're not. Why is this ridiculous? They are guaranteed health care under the current house bill. There was an amendment proposed to take this provision out and it was shot down. There is some public health benefits to that. On the surface I am against illegals receiving any sort of benefits outside of law enforcement (for and against), I do not want someone with untreated disease preparing my food or breathing on me at the grocery store.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 07:52 AM) Ridiculous. The current system in health care provision is nowhere within sniffing distance of competitive capitalism. The intervening presence of insurance providers and the labrynthine provider system allow for no real level of choice at all, other than, basically, insurance or no insurance. The current "solution" provided by Congress may suck donkey balls, but let's not get ridiculous about the current system being so great.

Zero chance of that. About three pages back Balta typed that about me.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) I found one interesting that the bill gives the govt the right to access your bank account electronicly to withdraw funds should you choose to not pay. That's a tough one. Should we really protect the debtor or the holder of the debt? Already medical bills cannot be dropped through a bankruptcy.

So Boras is now actually allowing teams to sign players for less money. So will it be ok for Kenny to negotiate with Boras now?

What Could Healthcare Do For American Business?
Given a scenario that a health care bill is passed and that most/all Americans will now have their health coverage independent from their jobs. What happens from there? I am believing that once employees are freed from the need to work for companies that offer health insurance, many employees will opt to work for smaller, more innovative companies, who are less likely to outsource to foreign companies. I see a real surge in mom and pop and middle sized business. All in all, I see this as a boom for American business.
