  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 02:36 AM) Todd Jones plays in the grand canyon. Todd Jones in this park day in and day out would get destroyed. Joe Borowski would make Thriller seem like strike out guy. I was thinking the same thing.
  2. This crap is getting old. I have nothing against the Bulls, but why do they have to show their game on Comcast and ESPN?? Is it blacked out somewhere and that's why they get to be shown on 2 channels. Instead of Comcast +, Mediacom is showing the finals from an amatuer karoke contest, WTF! Mediacom can go to hell.
  3. I'm not sure who to be mad at here, Comcast or Mediacom. Comcast isn't showing the Bulls, it has the Cubs. Comcast +, the f'ing Cubs. The channel that Comcast ++ is supposed to be on, it's showing cars for sale from around the area! What the hell is that about??
  4. 40 games in my franchise and the Tribe has been in 1st since day one. The Tigers and my Sox keep flip-flopping for 2nd. I'm not having problems with my centerfield situation, Erstad is hitting over .300 and Anderson is hitting .275 as hit backup. It's Guch that's killing me with his .189 average.
  5. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) Thanks for the help, I was wondering why I keep getting robbed all over the field. I'll have to make those adjustments. Out of curiosity, what level are you playing on? Im on pro, started off 0-3 and have won 9 in a row to go to 9-3. Most of the games are close but, I keep hitting a ton of homers. I can adjust that too right? I'll have to take a look when I get home. Or should I move to the next level (from pro)? I started on All-Pro but it's custom with the slider tweaks. I've turned down my contact to 20 and my power to 30 and I'm about middle of the pack for homeruns. I have the CPU at 70 skill, 50 contact, 60 power. I'm getting good results with this. If I miss my spots, I get what I deserve. I've found that putting the CPU with a higher power level than contact gives them a more realistic amount of fly outs, extra base hits, and long balls. I had the contact higher but with that they'd get ground ball singles or ground outs. Now they get a good mix of hits and every out isn't a strike out or weak grounder. I've gone from winning 9 in a row to dropping the next 2 at home to the Royals in a disturbing way. Javy was roughed up for 6 runs in 5 innings. Game 2 I left Floyd in a bit too long as he was touched up for 7 runs in 4 and a third. I had 2 outs and wanted to finish the inning with him but started giving up base hit after base hit and then Reggie Sanders hit one to Gary, Indiana. I've dropped to 3.5 out of first and .5 behind the Yanks and Tigers for the Wild Card.
  6. For those having problems with the CPU making too many great defensive plays, adjust your sliders. I've turned the CPU outfielder speed down to 30 or 35 and have only had 1 ball robbed in about 8 games. I've only seen a few diving grabs too and it was against the Twinks so I figure that's pretty realistic. I also turned their outfield throwing speed down to 20 and now they are forced to hit the cutoff guy. Thome and Paulie are about the only 2 that can turn a routine double into a close play because of their lack of speed. I'm 21-12 in my franchise and currently riding a 9 game winning streak. Those came against 2 teams with losing records. Only 2 of those 9 wins were non-save situations, the last game I blew a 6 run lead with Buerhle and only won because JD drove in 2 in the 9th to give me the lead. I'm still 500 in the division as the Indians and Tigers have owned me.
  7. Sadly you can't put your own music into the game. You can listen to it during menu screens, but you can't modify the game situations other than change the music that was already in the game. I also agree that IGN's ranking was total crap. This plays a fun and realistic game of baseball so far. If you miss a pitch, you'll pay. Same thing for CPU pitchers as well. One thing I like is the various umpiring crews. Some give you all the calls, others squeeze the hell out of you driving you pretty nuts.
  8. Saw the logo in my first franchise game.
  9. For those who see the Sox logo in the outfield, are you playing an exhibition game or franchise game? I played at the Cell and had no logo. If you get a chance, check out Shea with the NY skyline mowed into the outfield, very nice. I just finished my second game and was more impressed. I rallied late to beat the Giants. Zito shut me down for 6 innings but was jerked after Paulie blasted one to take the lead. One thing I like is how they've worked injuries into the game realistically. Dave Roberts had to leave with a sprained elbow after a leaping catch into the wall. Later Pods ripped a come backer off of their pitchers head, he went down like a ton of bricks and just rolled around as the play continued. The trainer ran out to check him and he was done with a mild concussion. Who ever said Jenks is the man wasn't kidding. As Hawk would say, GAAAAS, He Gone!
  10. Only played one game, was downed by the O's 2-1. I had a play at the plate but Pod's weak arm cost me the game winner. Things that stuck out to me: -They nailed a lot of guys oddities at the plate like Paulie backing out after each pitch and adjusting his batting gloves -When you're on the pause screen and they have a close up of the Fundamentals Deck or other parts of the stadium, plus the exterior of the Cell during the pregame screens was pretty sweet -The amount of things you can edit on each guy -The replay camera's were amazing, dirt cam, post inning and post game highlights -Having the Sox relievers sitting on folding chairs in the pen, then reacting to me giving up a long ball that landed a few feet away from them -They didn't have all the banners on the lights, but they did have the most important one, the 05 World Series Trophy As I said I only played one game but the first impression was impressive. Now if the wife would let me play another game....
  11. He may not be bring much to the plate, but how many runs has he kept off the board with his play in center? If we stuck with Ventura and Crede just to keep their gloves around, why wouldn't we stick it out with BA?
  12. There may be a positive to this series, I haven't seen as much s*** on Bond's Chase of Ruth. Pick your poisen, Red Sox-Yanks or Bonds and his chase for history?
  13. I'm glad others caught that crap about Konerko being off to a slow start. That f***in guy should be shot. Wasn't it Brantley that ripped Ozzie last season for his handling of the pen? Where does ESPN come up with these tools to talk baseball?
  14. As a Hawkeye fan, I hope it's true. When he'd enter a game our offense would disappear. Sure he hit a couple of huge 3's, but overall he just looks lost on the court.
  15. Does that mean I need a new screen name? Carlos was my boy growing up, I would get so mad when I'd go to games and Carlos would be riding the pine because some up and camer named Frank Thomas was in the lineup. Truly sad to hear this news.
  16. Tell me about it Soxnbears. Friday was the first, and possibly only game I'll be able to make it to this year. I'm glad I did stay for the whole thing though, things got somewhat intersting compared to the 2 hits over 8 innings before it!
  17. What the hell does that mean Texsox? If I remember right Koch has been just fine of late. Nice to see the Sox bring the bats in 2 straight games. Lets bring the wood for 3 more!!
  18. Go ahead and chalk up a big ole :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou and a few :finger :finger :finger :finger :finger :finger :finger from the state of Iowa to kotex boy!! Go Sox!!
  19. I'm from the same area as Sweeney and they just had a big thing about him recently on the news. He said he wanted to finish his high school career and go for a state title, but would jump at the chance of getting into minor league ball as soon as possible. He said that he and the organization were already in talks and they went on to say that a deal could be reached w/in a week or 2.
  20. If they were smart they'd bench his corked, juiced ass for someone who can hit w/ runners in postion
  21. What a game!!! We let Cubdumb get all excited and s***, and then of all people, Aaron F%$@#* Rowand ties s*** up. I had to stop watching after Juicy Cork robbed Jose of a bomb, but what an ending. Chalk up another season of bragging rights for the Sox, wish I lived in Chicago to enjoy it. Let's hope we build on this and the Chubs go into they're usual downward spiral. Go Sox
  22. When did Capt. Cork learn to play defense??? I love listening to all the Cubs fans b**** and moan because Corky Romano can't hit w/ runners in position. This is one of the best days of the year!!!!!!
