Cool. I hope he does well in a meaningless game played shortly after clinching our first division title in 13 years.

...I'm going to say---a reason to give a shit. (Good for one day only until 10/7/21)

Love me some "Lou-EE Ro-BEAR"

I sure hope that's not the only female.

I was at the Blackout Game -- still the best in-person sporting event of my life. (I was unable to get in to any of the WS games despite showing up each day with what I still believe was an unreasonable amount of cash in my pocket ready to spend.) Was a father of a single one-year-old at the time. Now a father of four. So things have changed.

um, yeah—one who’s being treated to an all-you-can-eat buffet in this thread.

Shouldn’t we change the title of this thread since it appears to be wrong?

I too am encouraged by the fact that this team plays well in all the high-profile moments. This team seems built for the big stage.

Nice. I remember spending that September freaking out about “corpse ball.” ?

I mean, it's pretty obvious

Just thought I'd resurrect this graphic. The source? A thread I just looked at from this week in 2005. Seems appropriate.

don't feed it

Yeah, I don't disagree about the quality of sports talk radio. But the Score is on whether you listen to it or not, and it still both influences and reflects the Chicago sports fan Zeitgeist. I check in on it for that reason.

Bernstein on the Score this morning was giddy talking about the Sox being in "crisis mode." Not sure about that. A nice blowout win would calm a lot of nerves.

God I sure hope we don't start bitching about Tony running out *good* lineups.

So game number 4 with "the big six" playing together? Let's try to improve on that 11.3 run average.

Yes. I'll take our rotation situation -- even without Rodon -- over theirs any day.

Yeah crazy that he'll probably be their fourth starter now, if they even let him start a game in the ALDS. I assume they'll go McCullers/Framber Valdez/Luis Garcia. I suppose Greinke could turn it around his next start or two and change that, but as of now he looks like a gas can.

don’t feed it

Come on Keuchel—another one like last time. Just give us a chance.

Despite his innings increase, Kopech doesn’t look like he’s running out of gas at all. He’s had his issues, but fatigue doesn’t seem to be one of them. Dude is throwing smoke. I’m hopeful he will have a big impact in the playoffs.

I don’t know about that. This isn’t domestic violence or PEDs. What’s the last athlete whose image was undone by infidelity (the very anomalous Zobrist example aside)? Most people don’t even know who’s divorced and why.

Joe Crede was a 1.6 WAR player in 2005. He was a lot closer to Leury Garcia than he was to our current third baseman.

He was. But we have plenty of guys with the ability to carry us when the time comes. It’s not hard for me to imagine a “new Crede.”

Luckily we have at least six position players on our current roster who are better than Crede.
