I have a bag of 50 Pepsi cans for this purpose. I love Pepsi products. Even with buying them over the internet I will still bring the cans for recycling. Not all 50 but at least 1 per person. I'm assuming that's what their going to do with them. For those who are interested the UPC code is actually stamped below the freshness date. They are not working. They come back with either expired or not in the SOX database. So once again thank you for the failsafe passcode "sox". I was shocked to find out that the UD premium box seats are sold out. At least as far as ticketmaster 1/2 price Pepsi promo goes.

It works! Great!

For PEPSI night I need a valid code. The codes on my cans are all expired. Thank you for your help!

May Indiv Game Honors: PoG: MB(3), EL(2), JG(2), SS(2), FT(2), MO(1), JU(1), MOL(1), PK(1), RG(1), CL(1), MJ(1), AoG: SS(3), EL(3), MB(3), JG(3), DM(2), NC(1), ST(1), CP(1), MJ(1), BoG: FT(4), JV(3), CL(2), MO(2), PK(2), JU(1), MOL(1), SA(1), AR(1), RG(1), GoG: JU(6), PK(3), WH(2), AR(2), JC(1), CL(1), EL(1), MOL(1), JV(1) Comments: Thank you KW for locking up MB & changing his disposition to one of sweetness towards the SOX. Here's to hoping MB & the SOX have a long history together. Thank you KW for locking FT up to a reasonable contract for a few more yrs. Frank is instrumental to this team's success year after year & even at 8 MIL for 2K5 he's a goody buy. I don't see him leaving because he still has 13 MIL guaranteed after that even if the SOX buy out the remaining year. Thank you KW for retaining Valentin. I think most fans want him back. Thank you KW for securing Loaiza. At 4 MIL a yr even w his drop off he's still a bargain. Thank you KW for securing Schow. I like you believed in this guy all along. But he is still injury prone in his career so let's keep crossing our fingers. Most of all thank you for Juan Uribe. What an incredible surprise! As for Maggs, he's producing slightly better than Carlos which puts his price at 10 MIL a yr tops. He's now in his 2nd yr of decline after putting up MVP #'s in 2K2. If he thinks someone wants to pay him better than 50/5 at this juncture let him go.

Definitely Frylock. I find Shake annoying at best & a need to mentor meatwad.

The Saudi's this weak pledged to increase production by as many as 2 million barrels a day to help out the USA. This is one of the benefits of occupying Iraq no doubt. This comes a few days after the Saudi security bldg was bombed by Al-Queda. But here's the problem. Because of the shortage of refineries in America it won't be available to the national public until after the summer season. If refineries were doubled in America it would reach the public as early as late Jun. Yes the gas guzzlers of America do impact the price we pay, but this is less an impact than the refineries. The problem is that the lobbying forces make it very difficult for refineries to be built. The natural places for them are along the Gulf of Mexico betw LA & FL as well as expansion in Chicago, & the South East. The South East is where the big turmoil is. It's a question of beach front property vs oil refineries because the shorter the distance between the refinery & the tanker the lower the cost. This is not an easy answer because there isn't land readily available for such construction without hurting the pre-existing tourism in those areas. There is room to expand the refineries around the great lakes but that isn't going to lower the cost. It's only going to increase the supply in a timely manner. In the mean time things can not remain as they are because it simply isn't fair for those who only consume 50 gallons of gasoline a month to shoulder the burden of price for those who consume 100 gallons of gasoline a month. Obviously MPG comes into play. It's impossible to ration gasoline in a true sense in America. But it is possible to ration the price increase assoc with gasoline usage. All license plates in IL are assoc with VINs so I assume this is true for most states. When paying for gas either by credit or cash you would be prompted to enter your plate number. From your plate number the computer would determine the VIN of your car & retrieve the MPG rating on the car. Your MPG class would determine your price class. Ex. The going rate is about $2.20 / gal. Person A: has a car getting 35 city, 45 hwy. Person B: has a car getting 25 city, 35 hwy. Person C: has a car getting 15 city, 25 hwy. Person D: has a car getting 12 city, 20 hwy. Person D: should pay $2.70 / gal. Person C: should pay $2.40 / gal. Person B: should pay $2.00 / gal. Person D: should pay $1.70 / gal. I think that can of pricing structure would have an impact on automobile purchases of the future & slow down demand.

This one comes from 60 Minutes & I can't really blame his premise. However Rooney always likes to leave democracy out of it & well I just find that to be un-American. Being an American & upholding democracy above all else go hand in hand in my book. So here's my little addendum to Rooney's idea: The nominations to serve on this advisory board to congress should come from the nations professors. So unless you are a professor you can't nominate someone. Congress will then choose among the nominees to serve on the board for no more than 8 years. Both democracy & the highest minds in the land play significant roles in determine the board. As Rooney suggested, the board would only serve in an advisory role & there is enough prestige with the position to entice the greatest minds to serve on the board. It doesn't mean that they can't serve more than 8 years, but it means that they have to be nominated & appointed again to retain their position. Likewise, as Rooney suggested the impact this board would have on the minds of the public would greatly pressure members of Congress to do the right thing. If the majority of the advisory board is suggesting to vote one way & Congress chooses to vote the other way there will be a lot of explaining to do.

We don't live in 1776 any more where the uneducated outnumbered the educated a 1000 to 1. We live in 2004 where the educated outnumber the uneducated & that gap is widening. It's time to evolve with progress.
-
First of your wrong. The meaning behind democratic republic is that no 1 state can monopolize the direction of the nation. Thus we pattern a true democracy at a state level but pattern a democracy of states at the federal level. That's what's meant by a republic. That is also why there is an electoral college to elect a president. Every branch of federal government is elected except for the judicial. There's simply no reason to keep it that way in an educated nation. We don't live in a land of an uneducated majority any more. Get over your own greatness. There are more legal professionals in this country today than there are law enforcers. That's a fact. Many of you need to stop living in the past. The modern world is one where the majority is influenced by media & today there are more media sources with the internet than at any time in history. The old phobias simply are ridiculous to fear any more. Implementing this is pretty easy. There is no campaigning & there is no general election. Nominations would come solely from state bar associations. From the list of nominees the congressional bodies of each state would then vote on the nominees. The ones with highest votes would be appointed judges. This allows for both the credence of the bar associations & the democracy of the voters to weigh in on the makeup of the judicial branch. This process should be repeated every 8 years & impeachment possible for judges who abuse the power of their role. It's ridiculous in this day & age for judges to be the only body of power exempt from the power of democracy. Even in the corp world executives have to answer to a board of directors & the board has to answer to stock holders.

========================================== Sun, May 23 @ MIN W17-7:Shrek 2! PoG: Carlos Lee (6 RBI!) AoG: Jon Garland(34, settled down) BoG: Carlos Lee (147!, hm: Aaron Rowand (141) GoG: Miguel Olivo (thrown out runner, hm: Carlos Lee) Comments: Fairy-tale analogy: The SOX were a frog that attracted a Princess' kiss (3-0). But then it turned butt ugly (3-6) & the Princess fled. But then it began to shine & the Princess turned back. Then it began to transform into a handsome prince & she came running back. The End. Wolf-pack analogy: The SOX were a pack of wolves that struck blood first (3-0). But the Twinkie hunter brought out the big gun & drove them back (3-6). But that didn't stop the blood in the Twinkie from flowing & the wolf pack picked up the scent quickly. Suddenly two brave wolves tore into the arms of the Twinkie & he couldn't get off a shot. The rest of the pack smelled the blood & devoured the Twinkie. He was able to draw his blade once near the end of his death, but his death was a certainty by then. The End. CARLOS LEE was the leader of the pack today. A 6 RBI day & some fine running catches. Just like Sat. The Twinkees are at a disadvantage on the new turf. Talk about cheap! The Twinkee owner is a billionaire & yet he won't spend 100 mil on a new stadium so he's force to go the way of the Vikings. The new turf should help the Vikes considerably with injuries but for the Twinkees it slows everything down & that weakens their speed advantage on defense. ========================================== JU(89)=16+10+50+13 AR(141)=16+16+24+85 MO(104)=67+21+16 CL(147)=22+46+22+57 PK(57)=7+36+7+7 MOL(81)=65+16 FT(38)=15+2+21 JV(73)=51+22 JC(34)=7+20+7 WH=9 JG(34)=89+69+40+0+10+25+0 (It looked worse than it was!) I disagree with that. The federal & state judges would be elected by citizens of the state & not the neighborhood. With respect to a neighborhood the Federal constitution doesn't apply as much as the state constitution. It's highly unlikely that in this day & age a single neighborhood or even a few neighborhoods could influence greatly the election of a state judge.

This is the central argument above all others. Democracy is by definition a government in which the majority of citizens of a nation hold the power. The USA of America was founded on a strong belief in democracy first & the need to be a republic second. The need to be a republic had to do mostly with the fact that the majority of citizens were uneducated. Thus certain inalienable rights had to be established to prevent these uneducated mobs from enforcing mob rules. This was also the basis for the judicial branch. Today America is by & large an educated majority where there are many more persons qualified to serve in the judicial branch. If you believe in democracy first then you should support the notion that members of the judicial branch should no longer serve life terms & should be elected like other politicians. What those terms should be should be defined by the social science of law & not someone's personal agenda. The biggest hinderance on American democracy today is a judicial branch which is largely appointed by elected officials to serve life terms long after those officials have been voted out of office. Where is the logic in such a policy in a nation with an educated majority?

Let's give it to Koney then. Lee & Rowand are simply not deserving of even a default GoG in this game. They did not make a play on a ball until the 5th inning & we're both replaced in the 8th. They both made 2 & only 2 POs. Koney may have been pulled off the bag but there's no question he was on the receiving end of more outs than any other player. I saw some of the highlights & I can't stand it when balls bounce right in front of OFers. That pisses me off to no end because that means just a few steps quicker reaction time & that's an out. Now either they are too slow to react or they were too slow to react at that time. That's what separates the gold gloves from the average players.

I think it makes more sense to link all the rumor threads into one thread. I'll try to provide links to the other threads in this one. Feel free to do the same here. The latest: Beltran to the Sox: http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/col_rozn...?intid=38126219 The White Sox haven't had a center fielder since before the turn of the century and they have the young and cheap arms necessary to make this deal happen. The Sox also can let the Royals choose from outfielders Joe Borchard, Aaron Rowand, Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney, and they can afford the $3 million it'll cost to pay Beltran the final two months of the season. The Padres, however, pose the greatest threat. They need Beltran. They have the position players to get a deal done. They have money to spend, even the $120 million it'll take to sign Beltran after the season. But the Cubs' package, which would have to include Corey Patterson and probably Kyle Farnsworth - among others - doesn't offer the inexpensive players on the verge of cracking a big-league lineup. Williams has the better shot, so he must ask himself, is there any chance of signing him and is Beltran worth the price you'd pay to make a run this year? Maybe and yes. "But if Philly accepted an average second baseman under contract (arbitration), a young starter with a mid-ceiling and a decent relief pitcher who wore out his welcome for Scott Rolen, do you think Kansas City would accept Mark Grudzielanek (team option for 2005), Sergio Mitre and Kyle Farnsworth for Carlos Beltran?'' ================================ This is a great opportunity for the WHITE SOX to hit the daily-double for the franchise . Beltran has now reached a Griffey like presence in MLB. So to say that he would not be a draw on the SOX is nuts. Better yet the SOX are the best hispanic team in the majors & this move would accentuate that. Consider the growth of the hispanic community in Chicago this would be a windfall. Both in the short-term & long-term the move makes sense & if it takes 120 MIL do it. The kid is 27 yrs old & good accomplish more in his career than ShamME Sosa. Kansas City needs young arms more than anything else. The SOX have more young arms with ML experience than any one else. It seems like a perfect fit. Who else can offer a Wright or Rauch type player to KC? Both of these guys have ML experience, some ML success & will certainly improve KC.

I have only one: Why is it so hard for the SOX to find a good 5th starter. No one spectacular just someone who can pitch 6 in & give up 4 runs or less.

May 18, 2004: Randy Johson throws a 2-0 victory perfect game. One of 17 players all time to do so. One of only 4 players to throw a no-hitter in both leagues. http://www.soxtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=19111&hl= May 17th GOG challenge: Lee & Rowand had no more than 2 outs each in the game. None of their plays were noteworthy. If not Uribe, then it's between Crede & Koney. Crede had more POs but Koney was involved in a DP.
