I think the M's are part-owned by Nintendo. Is that right? Nintendo is struggling this year with both the PS/2 & XBOX game sales. That's why the game cube has been slashed to $99.00. When things get ugly in the real-world purse strings get tight in MLB's fantasy world. When you mention Maggs for Ichiro it makes little sense for the M's on the surface but if you pkg a deal then it makes sense. Here's what you got with respect to the M's: Martinez 4MIL 7th ranked in AL Ichiro 4.7MIL 42nd ranked in AL Olerud 7.7MIL 46th ranked in AL Olerud 9MIL 2002 10th ranked in AL Here's what you got with respect to the SOX: Thomas 6MIL 6th ranked in AL Ordonez 14.5MIL 11th ranked in AL Konerko 7.5MIL 2002 16th ranked in AL Obviously what stands out the most is Maggs. Koney has NEVER performed as well as Olerud. Assuming he's signed for 2004 w the M's < 8MIL it might make sense to do a Ichiro+Olerud for Maggs+Koney deal. 22mil for 14mil swap for the M's but now they get the power player they've needed all these years. I doubt the M's do it though because Maggs has a 450 OPS in Safeco.

Well c'mon now. Prior's only in his 2nd yr. I hate to say this but the Braves mgr fell asleep at the wheel tonight. He never should have let Ortiz get into another BL 0 out situation in the 6th. This is the post-season. Save your starters, use your BP. Smoltz 531 OPS vs Mercker 743 OPS vs Gryboski 642 OPS vs Haney 479 OPS vs Hernandez 431 OPS vs There were plenty of options to go to for the Braves tonight. The Braves really did feel like the CHI-SOX. The lack of hitting & lack of managerial prowess did them in.

No sports bar would be complete without the goddess of sports & sex: For those who don't know she's 5'8". I've got to go, Anna's calling. Do not despair Braves fans. Wood has had prior success vs Braves (2001). Zambrano, Prior, & Clement are a different story. The Braves (2003) have beaten the snot out of 2/3 & battled Clement. Not to mention, the LH bats of the Braves will heat up in Wrigley.

To applaud the Braves BL 2 out situation down 2 runs in the 8th ... For those who don't know, Alicia is 5'9". Alizee is 5'3". I need to find a picture of Alicia like this .. Alizee in swim suit.
-
This is a pretty good collage for her. But honestly I like Alicia better.
-
Alizee - a young pop Corsican singer who's GORGEOUS!
-
Much better than this game!
-
Time to make this an ALIZEE dedication thread!
-
A 1 hitter thru 6in is pretty impressive. Braves just got their 2nd hit. RALLY TIME!

More on the SOX vs the AL worst. If you look at the team splits, the SOX should have murdered them. A 100 OPS adv vs TEX, a 200 OPS adv vs TAM, & a 200 OPS adv vs DET. But if you look at the batter vs pitcher the stats tell a different story & I think it's this story KW needs to address the most. http://baseball.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/pitc...Type=2&type=std Nate Cornejo (groundball, finesse), Gary Knotts (neutral, neutral), Steve Sparks (neutral, finesse) http://baseball.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/pitc...Type=2&type=std Zambrano (neutral, power) http://baseball.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/pitc...Type=2&type=std John Thompson (neutral, finesse), Jay Powell (groundball, power) Non-flyball pitchers neutralize our power & our lack of team speed makes for easy outs. We need more guys with success vs groundball pitchers on this team.
-
An easy DP ball with no speed at 1st, goes for naught because of an error. 2 outs. Crap. Wood just hit a 2 run 2B. 3-1 scrubs. What's Wood worth in his final yr as an RFA?
-
This is unreal. BL 0 outs again. Simon K's. 1 out. ORTIZ reminds you a little of BJ McD.
-
Detroit is in the AL Central... <scratching my head on that one> AL least = DET, TAM, & TEX. 11-8 vs DET, 3-3 vs TB, 3-4 vs TEX, 17-15 (lousy scrubune! They got the record wrong!) But still 17-15 vs the AL worst is not something to write home to Mom about.

SOX in the news: 1) KW says we need to build a team of grinders. Noted: Everett & Lee followed by Maggs, Val, & Crede. Missing of course was Koneko & Thomas. 2) KW praises Thomas. Thomas has 5 days after the World Series to either accept or decline the 6MIL option. If he declines, he's gawn. There's no way the SOX can afford the 8MIL next yr. 3) KW praises the Twinks. Says 80% of the Twinks are grinders. They were in awe of the SOX talent but played the game the way it's suppose to be played. Hustle, good D, & timely hits. 4) KW notes the SOX have too many big bats that are highly susceptible to changeups & curves. This was one explanation of why the SOX only went 15-17 vs the AL least. Now that's shocking & we haven't talked much about it. The SOX finished 11-8 vs Det, which means they were only 4-9 vs the rest of the AL least (TB, TEX).

futility: scrubs blow a BL 0 out situation with 2 K's & a pop-up foul.
-
I think I'll be the color guy with the stats tonight. 1 out Ortiz gets the K. Just needs a DP to end the inning. How has Ortiz fared w BL this year? 816 OPS vs WOW! 2 out, Ortiz gets another K. RISP, 2 outs, 748 OPS vs.
-
What I would like (if it's possible) is for the thread creator to replace Cubs with scrubs. Other than that I see nothing wrong with SOX fans taking pleasure in scrubs futility. It is a pleasure to announce: Braves 1, scrubs 0. Giles takes Wood downtown! Giles is a perfect example of what a solid organization the Braves are. In just his 3rd year, 318A, 21HR, 69RBI playing 2B. Solid #'s all the way: 922 OPS (865 vs LH, 939 vs RH) And just as I finish, Ortiz is in trouble. BL 0 out. Andruw Jones just saved a run. C'MON ORTIZ !!!

The PTC forum appears down, & the game is moments away so I thought I would do the honors. Ortiz (ATL) vs Wood (scrubs) For the Braves PTC, I'm going with Chipper Jones. And for the scrubs least-PTC, I'm going with Alex Gonzolez least-PTC is the guy you expect to hit the worst. Pitchers are not eligible.
-
What happened to the contest & PTC board? It appears to have vanished. Are we going to do Braves PTC as a testament of how much we hate the scrubs?

Jerry was a horrible game day manager. Over those 6 yrs, the team's preparation as evidenced in scouting reports, etc. was piss-poor. This is one of the reason we struggled with pitchers we have never faced. Jerry was a momentum killer. He would not allow for continuity in a lineup, a rotation, or a bullpen. If Carlos Lee is the team's MVP when hitting #2 in the lineup why the F would you move him? Jerry failed miserably at the little things. If not for the dominant pitching by some unlikely heros in 2000 the SOX would never have seen the playoffs under his term. Jerry your a nice guy, but get a F'g clue when it comes to managing in the Big leagues. We wish you well, but don't come back.
-
Jason? Say it ain't so? You of all people? I'm sorry dude, we can not allow you to root for the scrubs. We can accept you refraining from rooting against them, but we can not tolerate SOXTALK fans rooting for the scrubs. As a reminder here are the poll results of this very question: http://www.soxtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=10023&st=30 YES [ 5 ] [11.63%] NO [ 37 ] [86.05%] OTHER [ 1 ] [2.33%] The overwhelming majority of this community says no to rooting for the scrubs. Hence for the next week we are all Braves fans.

Javey Lopez was quoted saying "The Cubs have no chance of beating the Braves." You can look at every factor in the book here: Braves won 4-6 & 4 straight vs scrubs. Braves have the better record. Braves have the better OPS differential (824 OPS, 725 OPS vs.). The Scrubs have the worst OPS of all post-season teams (740 OPS, 692 OPS vs). Braves have a much better record vs > 500 teams. The Braves have beaten the crap out of Prior (879 OPS vs) The Braves have had success vs Clement (763 OPS vs) Greg Maddux owns the scrubs (619 OPS) The scrubs have only 2 shots at winning: Wood & Zambrano must shut down the Braves. Wood (473 OPS vs) Zamb (593 OPS vs) But PitchervsBatter can be misleading. As a team, ATL owns Zambi : .364A, 12.60ERA Kerry did NOT face the Braves this year. Those impressive numbers were long since past. Javy's right. There is no chance the scrubs can beat them. The best pitcher vs ATL this year: Clement He'll pitch gm 4 (if necc). You make the call on this one. Wood last faced the Braves in 2001. He gave up 2er in 6ip. The scrubs lost 3-2. Some scrub fans might cling to this, but I just want to point something out to them: 2001 Braves (736 OPS) 2003 Braves (825 OPS) I think Wood will be peckered with holes, Zambi will be shot dead & Prior will leave the scrubs looking toward Next year. :fthecubs :sosasucks :puke -> Wood

Wow! I won? Unbelievable. I've got to frame & savor this moment. I know why though. I'm one of the few who picked the SOX to win this series. The optimists rule the day! :fthecubs :sosasucks :puke -> Wood -
The final Pick to Click standings
JUGGERNAUT replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
SS thank you for making this opportunity available. I hope that you will entertain the possibility of adding pitchers or running a pitcher's PTC as well. When the dog days come & we can barely scratch hits (a seasonal thing with the SOX) I think it would boost spirits to include pitchers or have a pitchers game. For the rest of you, my methods remain a secret but the best part of the SOXTALK game is that SS let's a pick 3-4 games at one time. He's a great guy for this alone. Party in my yard! :fthecubs :sosasucks :puke -> Wood I have a favor to ask But I don't know where to ask it. In our defiance to the scrubs can we have a Braves PTC for the upcoming series? -
Bartolo offered "Richest Contract offer" ever
JUGGERNAUT replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I will try to put a list together to add to the 2004 thread of RFA's & likely to be traded. I have full confidence in KW to improve the team with what's available. I likewise think this could be a year where Colon is not the most sought after arm. The talent pool available to teams like NY is bigger than it's ever been. If you look at the 2004-2005 FA list, you can pretty much see a who's who of likely to be traded this winter. I think it might be the biggest list in the history of the FA game.
