  1. Rap is a joke. It's for musicians who know s*** about music. It's for singers who know s*** about singing. Don't give me any crap about poetry with words. There are many classic bands of the past who achieved greatness through poetry in words & music. If you don't know them or have never bothered to expand your horizons beyond rap I will be more than happy to point you in the right direction. Rap is basically lazy rock by lazy artists.
  2. Some of you just don't seem to get it about Frank's contract. It's all in favor of Frank until the very last yr. That's the only year the SOX can buy out. Now ask yourself this question. If you are guaranteed 6,8,10 over the next 3 yrs just for opting to stick with the SOX why would you risk that? This contract was designed with the intention that Frank would finish with the SOX & the only thing that would keep him from that is an MVP like season. Well that clearly didn't happen. What the SOX gained in the contract is the right to trade Frank any time, any where. Likewise, they saved themselves that 7% interest on the deferred $ for the remaining yrs. Let me re-cap this for you: Every year until the last year this is how the Thomas contract works. Frank opts to stay = 2MIL raise Frank opts to leave & SOX opt for him to stay = 4MIL raise 2k5-7: Frank can buyout for 2MIL. 2k4-7: Frank can earn an additional 2MIL worth in bonuses for what amounts to meeting the performance criteria of the old diminished skills clause. (Silver slugger, top 5 MVP, batting title, etc) So if Frank opts to stay he has 24-30mil guaranteed over the next 3 yrs. Who will offer him more? Who's going to trade for that contract? Say the SOX chip in some $$$ to a team in the trade. How much? If a team was able to get Frank for 21mil/3 yrs (SOX picking up the bonus $$$) would they bother to do so? Frank will remain a member of the WHITE SOX for at least 3 yrs. Book it.
  3. I've got nothing against Backman, but you need a manager on the s side that has MLB championship experience. Period. You need to look no further than the Devil Rays to see the impact a solid X-O's manager can make. 2K3 60-94, 4.92 era, 725 OPS, 783 OPS vs 2K2 55-106, 5.29 era, 704 OPS, 818 OPS vs We need to find someone like Pinella.
  4. I still believe that KW did the right thing in trading for Foulke. Let's not forget that Keith is playing in a pitchers ball park now & playing behind a much better D. Where KW made a huge mistake is the contract. So far KW has proven useless at making contracts for a team of this revenue level. He's overpaid for Koney, overpaid for Foulke, overpaid for Koch, & was willing to overpay for Buerhle. KW has proven he can't handle the numbers. Koch's stats suggested he was a better closer than Foulke. Period. Koch played a big part in the 21 gm streak of the A's last year. But there was more than enough evidence to suggest it's best to take Koch 1 yr at a time. The Cell is not a pitcher's park. You need at least a year to tell if a guy can make it there. As it is now, Foulke will likely command a 30/3 deal & move on. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he's not a Met or a Yankee next yr. I doubt very much he will be a scrub.

  6. ISFA: The Authority has also collected more than $13.6 million in fees and lease payments from the Chicago White Sox since the inception of the Authority. The details are on pg 12. http://www.isfauthority.com/assets/PDFs/20...nual_Report.pdf $0 in 2001, $0 in 2002, & expected $0 in 2003. But he will owe 1.8mil to the ISFA for renovations.
  7. MTL is going away. That's a certainty. It's just a matter of when, & it's going to be sooner than later. If it's a question of wishing to keep a home in MTL, then the obvious choices are BOS & NYY. MTL to BOS is about the same distance as CHI to DET. The SOX need to clean house: Robby, Sandy, Carl, Carlos, & Crede should be priorities. Marte, Colon, Buerhle, & Garland come next. Graff, Rowand in the rear. The rest are over-priced stat collecting bums that can start packing. E-LO is scary right now. One more bad start & I would say he's lost it again. The question is can film & Coopers off-season instruction help him find it?
  8. HSC, I'd love to send you the $$$, but JR is not selling. We all know it's a pipe dream to think otherwise. Our best option is to keep drumming in JR's head the same words KW does: "YOU'RE NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER!". It's time to clean house: There are 4 $$$ players I want back next year: Lee, Everett, Robby, & Sandy. There are 4 $ players I want back next year: Crede, Garland, Marte The rest I could care less about. For those who are blind, we lost the Bradford for Olivo trade .. BIG TIME! If Olivo ever figures it out, he'll be too expensive to keep. Meanwhile the A's have gotten a solid setup man for pennies on the $. I still remember 2000 when the sidearming duo of Wunsch & Bradford was nearly unstoppable. If JR has the opp to fire KW & hire Beane I would spare no cost to do so. He is clearly the best GM in MLB. If he had only 10MIL more to work with, he would have won several championships by now.
  9. I think what Roman's saying is that it's ok in the current generation to admit to weakness. It's a bad thing to be an arrogant sob who feels s/he is invincible. So it's a sign of both strength & character to wake up each day & realize one's strengths & weaknesses. A perfect example is JOSE VALENTIN. Because Graff was away, he had to play against Rogers. The evidence is over-whelming that a RHB is a weakness for Jose. It would have showed both strength & character for him to face Rogers as a LHB. But we all know what happened. When you add Olivo to the mix, the Twinks took the mound needing only 19 outs. The other 8 were as close to automatic as they come. However, Roman is wrong in is extension of "weak" to a radio show. The good in weak only applies to people & animals. Not radio shows. A weak-ass radio show as little value or merit.
  10. It's always better to finish on a high note. We are 80-72. The scrubs are 82-70. Pride is on the line. Go all out to try & finish out of the scrubs. WIN EM ALL!
  11. 1) Go through the game logs & assign a +/- point system to players to determine their impact on winning. I predict Lee will be the MVP. 2) While doing 1) assign a +/- to Manuel to determine how many games he cost the SOX. 3) Help KW in finding bargains. 4) Follow the AFL 5) Follow winter ball 6) Poll SOXTALK community on changes to existing games & introducing new games 7) Talk to Jas about including some charts on the site for SOXTALK original stats. 8) Send JR & company e-mails convincing them to re-sign Lee. 9) Take hold of my neighbors scrub flag & burn it 10) Create a top-ten list on why the SOX will win a World Series before the scrubs.
  12. Jas, do you know if the hacker got access to the e-mail or ip addresses for logins? Can you check with the host company? If they were pulling server info, they might be looking to attack the users next. I wonder if WSI is behind this. Maybe they consider us a true rival now? I'm sorry I've not had the time to spend with you on this stuff. My company has been working me to death.
  13. Though we are still mathematically alive, realistically we are dead. This was a very tough season for SOX fans & the last series felt like watching my dog died. In fact that's the best analogy I can think of. When Everett & Alomar arrived it was like the family got a new dog to replace the one that died of natural causes about a month earlier. This dog was great! He could run, catch, & had great enthusiasm. After a few months of ups & downs the end came. The downs were few & the ups felt great running alongside my new dog. But just as we we came to the end of the alleyway, there I was holding my dog tightly by the leash waiting for a break in the traffic. Well Jurrasic (in honor of Carl) so a cat on the other side & lept into the street. The leash broke & Jurrasic was history. I saw him catapulted into the air breaking his fall on tree limbs. I stood over my new best friend in agony. I felt powerless. I ran home, got the car & drove him to the vet which talking to the vet on the phone. Despite all our best efforts there was no way to save him. That's how I felt through the MIN series. Now I'm very mellow realizing I'll never see this particular dog again. It feels like a funeral. For those who are wondering, the broken leash is a symbol for one Jerry Manuel.
  14. FRANK THOMAS The better his stats, the more likely he is to leave.
  15. CARL EVERETT Big Hurt? Please leave. Jurrasic man makes for a more exciting DH.
  16. 1) Who will win the series (CHW/KC) (2 points)? CHW 2) Will Esteban Loaiza earn his 20th victory (Y/N) (2 points)? Y 3) How many errors will the Sox make (4 points)? 1 4) How many stolen bases will C. Lee have (4 points)? 1 5) How many total bases will Carl Everett have (5 points)? 6 6) How many hits will Mark Buehrle allow (5 points)? 6 7) How many walks will Danny Wright issue (4 points)? 4 8) Will there be more than 70,000 attendance for the series (Y/N) (2 points)? Y 9) Who will be in 2nd place in the AL Central (2 points)? SOX 10) Will Mike Sweeney hit a homerun (Y/N) (2 points)? Y TIEBREAKER: Total runners stranded as a team for the Sox 18 This is a tough one.
  17. I can't take the Twinkie acolades. Leaving to work out. Later dudes. Read the sig. It's all that matters now.
  18. 8. Scrubs 86,252,833 13. SOX 68,949,684 (about 55Mil in actually SOX pay outs) 17. HOU 66,864,840 Who would a thunk it?
  19. If the Sox don't make the playoffs, there would be nothing better than those 4 "meaningless" (according to Cub fans) losses the Sox handed the Cubs costing the Cubs a playoff spot. Best post tonight! Congrats! Once again we can raise our mugs high & toast to the SOX winning the Cross-Town Classic! I would feel mighty proud to know my SOX played a major role in the 90MIL Cub demise.
  20. And to think Hawk said the SOX need to pulverize the Twinks these last 2 games. :fthecubs
  21. Yeah. I agree F em all. Go sign Beltran, Jones, & Guzman. Steal the F'g Twinks & Roys players! Yeah!
  22. Well as the mantra goes, you pull for your cross-town rival as long as you know you're going to the dance. Once your dreams are shot, you hope to God your cross-town rival goes down in flames. So :fyou SCRUBS! Die!
  23. I'm thinking of adding GO ASTROS to my sig. What do you think? I was a Houstonite for a period in my life.
  24. This is going to be a tough October if the scrubs make it.
