  1. Also, instead of mentioning which neighborhood the victim was from, they just say 'south side.'
  2. That was my mom's co-worker and her family. The daughter was in rehab for a very long time and the husband died. The guy took a bus from another neighborhood (I can't remember how far) and picked the family out of the crowd headed to the game. I don't remember what his sentence was, but I know the family was satisfied with it.
  3. Bullets in hot dogs. Does it bother anyone else that hot dogs are being put through metal detectors? Yes, I'd rather then catch that sort of thing there rather than catching that stuff in my kitchen, but.....
  4. Gotta agree with you on 'reality' TV. I'll take Discovery Channel, History Channel or a sports channel over those shows any day of the week. EDIT: By those shows, I mean Reality Shows not the ones listed by I4E.
  5. Now that is a show that sucks.
  6. This might have been posted before, but it is appropriate. I tear up whenever I read this. Brian says Stinky Butt I is probably enjoying a good nap under an oak tree while waiting for us... ******************************************************************* RAINBOW BRIDGE Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...
  7. I came over from WSI; can't remember who mentioned it first. I was at the MLB site, but left there 2 years ago (or something like that).
  8. If I am home, I'll watch it. I am going to try to watch tonight since there is ballgame or hockey on (or listed anyway...)
  9. Thanks for the info! Understood.
  10. Does that take into consideration the people that have run out of benefits?
  11. Let's see if I can clarify now that I have a second or three. When I say ripping off a design, I am not talking necessarily about something that is already copyrighted, I am talking about stealing a design from a co-worker or using information about a company that you gain from an employee that's been fired. Selling secrets (even if there has been no signing of the company having propriatary (sp?) rights) is considered unethical. I am in no way here talking about specs and dimensions when I am speaking (in generalizations) about the ethics taught where I went to school.
  12. Nevermind. I don't believe I called them morality class, I said ethics was mixed in with my engineering courses. They were actually putting an 'ethics' course together when I graduated, not sure if it was ever implemented or not. Not sure where the hostility is coming from
  13. FYI - that post I made is mostly a generalization, not towards anyone inparticular. I just don't happen to agree that Tillman derserved so much publicity because he was an athlete and/or turned down a big salary to be in the service. A life lost is a life lost, regardless of fame. Yeah, I guess I am simplistic and unrealistic about this, but so be it.
  14. No Jugg - ethics as in ripping off someone else's design, designing something and approving it even though you know that someone could be hurt or killed because of cheap parts your manager/company owner mandated to use (I've seen engineers quit because of this). That type of ethics is what I was talking about.
  15. My sympathies. One of my hamsters died a few weeks ago.
  16. That's a nice thought. So the others that have died are less important because they weren't famous before entering the service.
  17. Shouldn't it matter as well what Bush has done in the last 30 years? Personally, I think all politicians (except the Late Paul Simon) are lying crooks out for themselves, but the idea of another 4 years of Bush is horrifying (to me) to say the least. Even greenspan is worried about the deficit now (or so says an article on yahoo).
  18. Now if I could get Brian to understand this concept...
  19. Actually no, I realize he isn't a star caliber pitcher but I have to agree with 'HSC's Biggest Fan' that Koch has been squeezed the last few games. Sorry, but that is my opinion.
  20. And if he gets some of the calls in the 9th this thread wouldn't exist. The guy needs a shrink. If he can get the batters to 1-2, he's got the stuff (for the most part), he just needs to stop letting questionable calls get into his head and deal with what is right in front of him.
  21. I can't stand the actors in the flick so this stuff isn't affecting me directly, but I understand, completely, where you are coming from.
  22. Koch just needs to learn to NOT let umps into his head. he's been squeezed a bit in the last two games and it was obvious that was getting into his head. GET HIM A SHRINK!
  23. I'm glad I am not the only one with these observations.
