Game Thread (9-9): Hostess Twinkies vs. White Sox
Queen Prawn replied to BridgeportHeather's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Looks like the umps are sick (referring to the look on the 3rd base ump's face) of the Twinks whining (although in this case, it appears the Sox caught a huge break). -

Where the heck was that? It seemed like the batter thought it was a strike as well. -

Not to take anything away from Colon's performance tonight, but that is pushing it a little bit. There are several Loaiza perfomances that rank above this performance by Colon. Come on, now FanOf14.....some Sox fans don't wanna hear all that "truth" you speak.... lol, didn't think anyone would even have a chance to notice my post. I said a little bit over board, but that is just one chick's humble opinion. I guess that Loaiza performance in NY floored me more than I thought it did. -
Will someone pass the salt and pepper to Ncorgbl, his crow is bland tonight.

Please tell me that is the last of Colon for today. He battled back this time, but his pitch count is getting up there and he hasn't exactly been on all night. Sorry, but Colon scares me. -

It was hit way too sharply and field way too cleanly for someone of PK's speed to score. -
The only reason my cousin's bf wasn't in the towers at the time was because he stopped to vote that morning. It took several days to find out if she was okay or not as we had to wait for a call from Ireland from her mom as her phone was out when my Uncle tried calling from Chicago. I was watching a show on Discovery about the falling of the towers last night. My bf and I were talking about it afterwards and it astounded us how we remember each and every little detail about that day. From when my co-worker (at the job I was at when this happened) came in late because of the news flash, to when my boss and I realized those buildings had no chance, to when reports of the pentagon being attacked came over the wires, to when the GM (jerk from Greece) turned off the TV after the first tower collapsed told us to go back to work, to the collapse of the second tower, to when reports of the Pennsylvania flight came over the wires to when my mom and I were trying to calm each other down on the phone (we tried a little humor about my dad not going to work - downtown was under lock down for the entire night and we figured they wouldn't let a foreigner in anyways) to when I talked to my bf at about 8PM before he went to work (he works right outside of downtown) and I begged him not to go, to the gas gouging, to when he called at 11 after he started work (all the guys were on the phone with their families for the first 1-2 hrs of work) and we talked about the fighter jets above and how quiet it was without commercial airliners over head... Reading through this thread brings tears to my eyes remembering all the emotions and thoughts that I was experiencing.

LOL! I wasn't referring to Paulie, just a general observation! Oh yes, I noticed the detractors and with his first half performance (or lack there of), I can't entirely blame them. I wasn't keen on the amount Kenny signed him for either.

Unless of course your favorite player (whomever he may be) is #1, than it is the cream of the crop of stats .

Does anyone here have this? If so, is there any way I could get the the data1 and data2 CAB files? When I downloaded this demo (260MB or so) these didn't come through cleanly and I can't run it. If I had DSL (if the freaking contractor :fyou would move his ass and do the additions, I would get it) I would just try downloading again, but with dial up, it takes entirely too long and it seems that if the download is more than 175MB, it never comes through cleanly (yes I use getright for download assistance).

Just for the record, I want it known that not all PK fans are uptight asses (CW - this NOT directed at you!). Also, Mike, I am sure the women here (that would include me) have more baseball knowledge in their pinkies than you have in your entire body. It's one thing to voice your opinion and it's another to be a total ignoramous about it.

No kidding! Even though that ball really got in on the hands of PK, I really thought it had a chance of getting out...oh well. C'mon guys - bring this one home!
-
The Sox really need to win today and I think DW had a great outing comparing to what the most of us were expecting. Thomas needs to get out of this funk. If he doesn't, Konerko will have a better BA than him within the next few days (after the first half, who would have thunk it).
-
I am pretty sure it is due to the ball he fouled into his knee either yesterday or Friday (I can't remember which game that happened).

Actually you can, or at least you could last year (I did the 3rd game of the season last year). I went to a Sunday game and asked for 2 best available at the window about an hr before game time (it was a spur of the moment thing) and I got seats right behind home plate about 10 row (or so) up. According to the guy at the window, they sell those seats only when those seats were not sold as a season ticket or something like that. I think Heather mentioned something about good tickets being available game day that are never available through Ticketmaster.

It's about time! I needed a distraction from work!

Forgot to mention that in my vent. I have the earpiece thing too (just bought, so I haven't had the opportunity to experiment). That's why I don't understand why so many people still go the hand held route. There are so many gizmos and gadgets out there to avoid that, and it isn't like they cost a bundle either, why not use use them ?
-
[VENT]I don't know if people woke up today and took stupid pills rather than their vitamins, but I can't remember the last time I ran into so many idiots on the road. Most of them need to hang up and pay attention to the road. I have a cell phone, but I have enough common sense to not talk on the phone while driving 70MPH down the express and changing lanes (of course they use no signals while performing this feat). While on the topic of signals, why the hell doesn't anyone use them anymore? My bf is really bad about not using the turn signal so everytime he changes lanes and uses no signal I give him a hand signal. :fyou ARGH! I hate when my day starts like this. [/VENT]

Tell me about it. It takes 1.5hrs (on average) to get to work and about the same to get hom, I have to work 8-5 because they don't pay for lunch (not many, if any engineering jobs pay for lunch) so by the time I get home I am so tired and worn that even traveling the 4 miles to see my sister and nephew becomes a challenge. My bf has it bad too because he had been (and will be for awhile) working the 6pm to 6am slot at work because of jobs cuts - they are trying to stretch 2 shifts worth of work over 1.25 shifts worth of people. Needless to say, he and I are lucky if we see each other one day a week (and we live together!) and that day is usually filled with errands and an occasional family get-together. It sucks, but as everyone is saying, with this job market, there are no choices.

By the right sox hopefully!

I plan on several tonight - I'm gonna need it between that and the stupid Sox.
