  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 27, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) And I'd still rather have BA starting in CF over Pods, Mack, Ozuna, or Gload. ^^^ * infinity
  2. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ May 27, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) I've said it before and I'll say it again. No way can Detroit go at this pace all season. There going to hit alot of bumps along the way. The White Sox are still the champs till someone beats us. The Sox weren't going to keep it up last season either...and then they like DID go at that pace all season.
  3. So much for having a good defensive centerfielder.
  4. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 27, 2006 -> 07:40 AM) How are the indians btw? I only say that he should get them becaught knight has gotten about 1500000000000 points because of '' recruiting'' from soxtalk. WTF?! They got fished up crazy. Felix Diaz is also best evar.
  5. ER*9/IP 6 * 9 = 54 54/0.3(1/3 of an inning) = 180
  6. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ May 26, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) White Sox staff isnt all that impressive. Just a bunch of 4 plus career era pitchers who are exceeding expectations. Except for Buehrle and Garcia. They will slow down and they do have some injury prone players on their team im not all that worried, Im glad they are beating up on Cleveland who I expect to eventually come down to earth and catch us. 2005> fan>
  7. Koch is living proof that a positive attitude and hard-work do not always equal success. He is, however, also living proof that a positive attitude and hard-work always brings respect on some level. That's something people strive for, and he got it. Best of wishes to Koch and his family
  8. How awesome is Soxtalk where we openly accept a Tigers fan doing pbp of the Tigers-Indians game? I love it I personally couldnt care less who wins this game...Cleveland has proven over the past 2-3 years that they are a second half team, so the bigger the hole they dig themselves, the harder it will be to make up ground on two teams. On the other side, Detroit is the best team in the majors(record wise ), and so if they lose, woo hoo.
  9. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 26, 2006 -> 06:01 AM) How about a decent fielder 3B and a leadoff hitting CF since we'd also have to move Fields into LF so Pods would be gone.... In other words that trade would take too much from us... The CFer of the future is already in Chicago, so getting a leadoff hitter who plays CF would be pretty much pointless. I know you hate Anderson, but I'm not sure why. He's a friggin rookie...he's going to struggle with the bat. I would bet that 3 years from now, you are going to be happy the Sox didn't give up on Anderson after 2 months. Hell, Rowand hit .140 before the Sox sent him down in 2003. He turned into the key piece of a World Championship caliber team, and the key piece of a deal that netted the Sox one of the best power hitters of this generation. So yeah, waiting instead of jumping to conclusions would probably be better.
  10. QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ May 26, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) wait AJ is getting fined for WHAT?!!! For getting ejected
  11. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) This move seemed to be written on the wall down here all this move does is add another fireballer with terrible command which is the same as the rest of the pen. Kevin Jarvis will take over as the 5th starter I would take a fireballer with no command over El Duque any day of the week, unless it's October and my team is alive
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) Any Sox fan that can't cheer Frank for what he did ON THE FIELD should be ashamed of themselves. Spare me all the "Frank is a baby" or Frank "ripped" the organization bulls***. Why do fans act they're part of the organazation anyway? Frank has never, ever "ripped" Chicago or the fans, therefore fans shouldn't act like they're just so outraged by something that has nothing to do with them. Why was Frank so upset in the first place? For wanting to finish his career in Chicago? A place he loved? Oh my f***ing god! What a f***ing asshole he is for that. Was Frank Perfect? No. Did Frank make some stupid mistakes? Yes. As have a lot of athletes over the years. But even if you don't like Frank as a person, respect what the man did ON THE FIELD. You know what I'm gonna cheer for on Monday? I'm gonnna cheer 7 consecutive seasons of a .300 ba, 20 hrs, 100 rbi, 100 runs, and 100 walks. I'm gonna cheer back-to-back MVPs. I'm gonna cheer his batting title in 1997. I'm gonna cheer his 7 seasons with an OPS well over .1000. I'm gonna cheer his amazing bounce back season in 2000 after two poor seasons in which many thought he was done. I'm gonna cheer countless clutch hits/hrs that took the Sox from sure defeat to victory. And all this was done without any artificial enhancements. If a Sox fan can't cheer him for that, I feel sorry for you. You are the mang, mang. Mad f***in props
  13. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 18, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) No one in this town even likes hockey I wouldn't necessarily say that. I don't think they like Blackhawk hockey, but they like hockey.
  14. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ May 18, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Haha, both are great accomplishments by AJ. I love this guy! This years AJ is wayyy better than last years. Keep it up AJ!! I believe last year's AJ triggered the Sox playoff run with his strikeout...everyone obviously played well, but AJ's K caused a huge swing of momentum towards the Sox. Therefore, last year's AJ was better than this year's AJ, no matter what his stats say. Last year's stats indicate a World Series trophy on the South Side, where as this year's doesn't indicate anything near that level..yet. Still, a .330 average is solid.
  15. QUOTE(Wedge @ May 17, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) You are correct. It was in SI and the previous poster was right: Uggie offered to "take care of" the man who killed Ozzie's best friend. Sounds like a hell of a guy :headshake
  16. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ May 14, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) but Vazquez did melt down for some reason Getting 5 outs can cause melt downs, especially when it's the ump's faults for getting extra outs and not the fielders. Like it's been said...you can't blame the umps for the loss, but they sure didn't help any. I still say Dale Scott is a Twins fan. I have no basis for that conclusion other than the Cuddyer and Castillo plays, but I've come to it.
  17. That mofo is blitzed as hell. No way that's just being high, and there's no way he's just drunk.
  18. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 13, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Wood and Prior have to be on that list. We're talking this season, not career wise. They've been down for the past 3 years now...that's expectation, not exception. No offense or anything, but you really are obsessed with the Cubs.
  19. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ May 13, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) No Eric Milton? Did he use up this status last year? He's used up that status throughout his entire career.
  20. I'm adding 2 to the list Carlos Silva(8.23 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, .355 BAA) AJ Burnett(6.30 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, .279 BAA, 10 IP) I made mention of this last night in a different thread about Silva, but all the same. His K/BB is actually decent - 3.00 - but that's because he hands out walks people like he's playing softball. The fact remains that he has 12 K's in 42.2 IP...Flash Gordon has twice as many in 16 innings. Burnett's obviously a disappointment because he is bringing in $60 mill and has pitched 10 innings. That's just pure ouch.
  21. QUOTE(Felix @ May 13, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) You don't give out 29 million dollar contracts to mediocre starters either, but that was already done. Correct. You give them 60 million dollars.
  22. QUOTE(RX Bandits @ May 13, 2006 -> 06:12 PM) I have a bone to pick with pretty much all of soxtalk. I loved Aaron as much as everybody else. Yet lets not kid ourselves, Aaron was an average player. Without Thome we would have been screwed with first couple weeks. I am not saying anyone in this thread said "Thome sucks I want Rowand back" but never have I seen such love for a player because he was a nice guy. Aarons defense in CF was awesome, but Brian Anderson HAS played a GREAT CF. Now that I said it...grill me on it. No way dude...there's absolutely nothing wrong at all about that. As far as Rowand's value is concerned as an actual player, he isn't much more than average. He's a good defensive CFer, but he is very average at the plate, maybe slightly above average. The reason most people on here love Rowand is not because of the player he is, but because of how he goes about his business. He never fails to bust ass on the field, even if it means busting his nose in the process. If you don't like a player because of that, I have no problem with it...I don't necessarily agree with it, but you're entitled to your opinion, just like everyone else on Soxtalk.
  23. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 12, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) If Minny comes to their senses, promote Bartlett from AAA, let Liriano start, and Mike Cuddyer can continue to hit the way he has lately, I'm actually going to say the Twins. Cleveland's offense is great don't get me wrong. But I'm more worried about a team who has better pitching than a better offense. Radke and Silva have to figure out how to have hitters hit the ball at players instead of in open spaces. Combined, 124 hits in 81 innings between the two of them. What's more fun is that they've only allowed 11 walks. I don't think those two know what the hell a waste pitch is. I don't find striking guys to be the utmost important in baseball(I find GO/AO being a better indicator, depending upon what division you play in), but a 4.93 K/9 for Radke? A 2.53 K/9(!!!) for Silva? You have to strike more guys out than that. As of right now, the Tigers are my biggest fear in the division...that rotation looks pretty solid, and that offense is for real. They are a team with a chip on their shoulder and a good old-school manager...watch the f*** out for them. And of course watch out for Cleveland come the second half.
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 12, 2006 -> 05:54 PM) Maybe you havent watched Hunter play much this season. Torii's running catch Torii > BA...at this point in time, there's no arguments. That being said, trading for Hunter would not really be a smart move, short term nor long term. For starters, prospects and money would be spent much better than bringing in a good CF, when the Sox pretty much have a poor-man's version of Hunter in CF right now anyways. Including that, Hunter may not stay in Chicago long term, and if he does, he's heading towards the end of his prime. All things considered, the Sox would be hurting themselves by bringing in Hunter. This is also a case where the Twins won't deal within the division. In most cases, if a team is going to be heading into rebuilding mode, they are going to worry about the prospects more they are getting rather than the effects the player they trade hurting them in future years - if they are rebuilding, they are gonna lose a lot, so who cares where you trade him? The only team that needs to worry about it in that case is the team giving up the prospects. This case, however, IS different because Hunter is probably Minnesota's franchise player right now...trading him to a division rival after he has killed them for years upon years is PR suicide.
