QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) That's exactly 100% the comparison I am making Well let's hope Cutler is an MVP caliber QB after 3-4 years in the league

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) Yeah, our school supplied them for us for free. We did it a lot in class and it helps with time management and what not. But I mean, what should I do this last day and 1/2 to prepare. Relax. Do something to take your mind off it. If you need, do a couple mock exams. Just make sure you have confidence when taking the test - and a calulator, something I forgot at home

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) This is why they aren't going anywhere anytime soon, unless they can acquire some decent pitching for one or more of their hitters. That's also why they are under new management. Krivsky took over in like January. He has had pretty good results so far.

Hell yes, I'm down for anything like this

QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 11:37 PM) Thome is amazing. Getting Jim Thome from the Phillies was the best offseason move the Sox made in my opinion. Was there an offseason move made by anyone that has had a bigger impact on a team? I don't think so. I'm not sure it's even close. Jim Thome is the MVP of the AL up to this point...sorry Babe.

Sweetness. Asked my Twins fan dad what the score of the game was when I got home from work. He said "Who cares?" Nothing better than that.

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 09:22 AM) to keep you all in the loop, the Sox were the first team to actually respond with this. They sent in 2 program guides on the team. Similar to the ones you can buy at the ballpark for $4-5 each. Very nice. Not too much history on the team in these, mostly just highlighting the '06 season. Still pretty neat. That is interesting. Just wondering, who wins the World Series? Cool as hell though.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) This is the Twins of 2002-2004, not the 2005 Twins. ^^^ It was funny, I was watching the game and watching the Twins mount that comeback and I just said to myself "they're gonna win this friggin game." Sure enough.

I would have to imagine it has something to do with most sabermaticians hating the Sox. They play small ball, the hitters have little patience, they allow a lot of hits, they don't strike a lot out, and they have a tendency to get "lucky" and win close ball games. Regardless of how you feel about stats or not...I think the Sox are proving that, sometimes, the game does indeed go beyond the stats. They win with intangibles...and the sabermaticians hate that. I like it, and the Sox are winning consistently...I sure as hell don't care. All that being said...this list is stupid. Why would you base the best 50 players in the league based off of PECOTA. I just don't get how you can make up 1 stat and determine who the best player is. Silver is apparently a pretty pisspoor researcher.

Juan Uribe is amazing

QUOTE(SoxRock05 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) 5 for 5 guys....if you are going to complain, at least do it when he is struggling....he is working into his groove and doing it in good fashion. GiYea!! So we can't say a guy's overweight and needs to control it just because he's doing well? Oh k. By the time he realizes he needs to lose weight, he may not have enough arm or back left to pitch in the majors.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 12:23 AM) We all sometimes take for granted the spot the Sox are in right now. We have the 4th highest payroll in the MLB, are defending champs, have the best staff in the league, and basically have one below average hitter right now in Anderson. With Thome on board, along with a few others having great starts to the season, the Sox are able to get by with a rookie still finding himself at the plate. I love this team. What I think will be fun is when the rest of the team is starting to struggle and come down a little bit and BA will be hitting the hell out of the ball come midsummer. If there is anything BA has proved in the minors, he has proved to be a quick learner, making the proper adjustments sooner rather than later. I have a feeling he's going to be getting some big hits for the Sox this year. I too love this team...you will not find a looser team mentally, nor will you find a deeper team than this. This team is friggin amazing. -
Gotta love how Ozzie talks to a slumping hitter...

I dunno. I see a good player inside Brian Anderson. I have just also seen that he can't handle a major league breaking ball yet. Due to that, he's behind the fastball, and can't do s*** with it. Looks a little bit intimidated at this point. Walker needs to get with him and just have him work it out. Whether it be extra time in the cage, watching some tape, or perhaps even sitting...whatever...just stick with him. The Sox offense is clicking as a whole right now, the pitching is starting to come around on all front's...I think the Sox can handle 1 bad hitter in the lineup...they dealt with 2-3 last year pretty much year long, and that turned out well. JMHO of course -
Sox - - - - - - A's, just so everyone will shut up about Billy Beane never winning a World Series title Bills/TWolves/Vikings/Bears/whoever else...I could give 2 s***s

QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) Anyone who drives with alcohol in their body deserves to be looked down upon. Meh. 2 beers isn't going to hurt any average adult male. That's alcohol in the body, and I don't look down upon my dad when he does it.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) Not really. I just hate them. Their fans are drunk and stupid and insufferable s***s. I lurk on their message boards. They say so much s*** about us. They say "Cubs Suck" is our entire baseball vocabulary. They say we have some "infereority complex" thing and we take shots at the Cubs for no reason. Their fans are stupid. I don't like Cubs fans or Yankees fans. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 09:37 AM) That would be horrible. I bet at Wrigley they can barf at him. My economics teacher said he's got friend who live outside Wrigley, and he's like, "Every time the Cubs have a night game, someone either barfs or takes a dump on their lawn."

Realizing we are in the era of sabermetrics, and knowing he did play defense for the first 8-10 years of his career, and also having the cababilitiy to play defense until mid-2004, there is not a chance in hell Thomas is not a Hall of Famer. I don't care about his attitude or these injuries and hard times at the end of his career, if he's not a Hall of Famer, playing the game with no unnatural boost whatsoever, I will have lost a lot of respect for the game.

If Pods continues getting on base, Thome stays hot, and the rotation continues to pitch well, it's going to be a long year for the rest of the AL. The entire team pretty much feeds on those 3 things. Of course there's good defense too, but that's expected. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) I don't hate the Cubs for any of the reasons you listed above. I just hate them, I'm not entirely sure why but I just hate them and I always will. What the Sox did last year does not change the way I feel about them. I don't necessarily hate the Cubs...I mainly hate Cubs fans in general. There are exceptions of course, but that's just the way it is for me. However - my main point concerning Cuck was that he talks about the Cubs in like every friggin post. While it's entertaining to make fun of the Cubs, it gets old after a while. That's mainly what I was trying to say. I just threw that Sox thing in there for the hell of it.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) A2000 for the last 9 years My college Superbowl brother has an A2000...I am always stealing it when I want to play catch, because that thing is friggin awesome. I personally have a niceass glove too, some Nike glove, but the A2000 is just amazing.
