How many babes will Konerko Steal this season?
witesoxfan replied to TheDudeAbides's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) Heres a new thing, who will have more steals, Kong or Thome? That i would like to know. Chuck Norris -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) I still have my whole elite 8. I hate you and your Vermont. Hate them all.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) It wouldn't be dumb at all. The Reds have needed pitching FOREVER. Even without Pena, their offense would still be one of the best in the N.L. They could just throw Hatteberg at 1B and keep Dunn in LF. Then their outfield would be Dunn, Griffey, and Kearns. Or they could throw Dunn at 1B and stick Freel in LF. They would still have a very good offense even without Pena. Without an improved rotation, they will never win anything. You and Krivsky think alike. I figure I like Pena a lot more than you and apparently Krivsky do, and I wouldn't have signed Hatteberg at all. The Reds are going to need dumb-luck to right their ship this year, so I would have gone with young players, traded veterans for prospects, and just started from scratch. All that, and I'm not a huge Arroyo fan either. Rather mediocre stuff. If I had traded Pena, I would have been looking at younger, less developed pitching.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) The Red Sox may also be looking to trade for Willy Mo Pena using Bronson Arroyo as trade-bait... http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5427236 If Cincinnati's dumb enough to trade Pena for Arroyo, they should just give up all hope of competing. Arroyo's a good #3-4 pitcher, whereas Pena could be a hella stud a couple of years from now. Why on earth would you even consider if you are a World Series contender, let alone a team that is in constant rebuild/retool mode? For my sake as a baseball fan, I hope Krivsky is not that dumb.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) Wite, what have you been smoking? Iowa in the title game? Eh, had a feeling. Good defensive team, hope they get hot offensively, hope they get a little lucky - this of course didn't happen, especially the latter.

Who will be 2nd on the team in steals?
witesoxfan replied to Timoperezrulez's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Uribe may finish 2nd in CS's - I don't think there's a chance in hell he has the second most steals. He's a horrible baserunner. I like the Goochi pick too, but I would not rule out Anderson or even Ozuna. -
I got f***ed in round one. I had Iowa in the Championship. I also hate NW State. So basically when I saw Iowa lost, bracket = garbage

QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) im pretty sure many other people would agree that Bledsoe is no longer one of the upper QB's in the league Bledsoe is in the lower echelon of QBs in the league. He still has a cannon, but that's about all he has going for him at this point. He should not be a starting QB, yet he is...this is something I don't understand at all. With a good offensive line, he is top 15...without a good OLine, he's one of the 5 worst in the game without a doubt in my mind.

QUOTE(soxhawks @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) lets face it, Philly was the worst possible scenario that could have happened. TO will pull his same s*** but not on as large of a scale as he did in Philly, so I expect him to lead the cowboys into the playoffs this year Philly was the best possible scenario for him...a pro bowl QB in a passing offense? I don't see how that's not the best case scenario for him. He's now going to an even harsher head coach with a worse QB...if he pulls any s***, his ass will be out in 3 seconds.

SoxTalk Interactive Mock Draft
witesoxfan replied to WHarris1's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Sorry it took so long - been busy with work Buffalo Bills select - Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon -
If you read the article that Kalapse posted, you see the actual article itself. It's a pretty poorly written article. "Actor Will Ferrell accidentally died in a freak para-gliding accident yesterday in Torey Pines, Southern California." He accidentally had an accident - isn't hard to intentionally have an accident? That type of mistake just does not happen if a professional AP writer is doing that story. Pretty much could tell it was a hoax from the get go. "The accident apparently happened somewhere near the famed paragliding site after a freak wind gush basically blew Ferrell and his companion towards a wooded area where they lost control before crashing into the dense foilage. " I think it was clarified that it was an accident...3 uses of the word accident in the first 20 words of a story is a bit excessive. Also, the word basically is very poor word choice...again, something a professional AP writer would not do. The word would simply be omitted. Foilage is not a word either, but typos occur, and are sometimes even overlooked after being passed by an editor. Whether you like him or not, Will Ferrell is still alive and well.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 11:29 AM) one of these guys is gonna win 20 this year. If they all stay healthy, there all gonna win 15. Garcia didn't miss a start and won 14 games. I won't rule it out...but I wouldn't be making any guarantees or "gonna's" yet. They have a hell of a good chance of doing it though, which would be friggin incredible.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) somebody? Anybody? It's obvious everyone in this thread just hates you.

QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Definitely. Young is going out of the top 5 in the draft now, and will likely end up around 9 or 10 to the Lions (unless they plan on Kitna being a long term answer) or Cardinals (unless they plan on Warner being the long term answer). Reunited with Norm Chow. How big is that?

Boom or bust move right here. If Culpepper's healthy and stays healthy, he'll be huge for Miami. If not, well... I like the move for Miami...hate it as a Bills fan of course. Pending a physical of course. That is no guarantee.

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) I think our utility infield is still better than the starting infield for the royals. i feel pretty good about all three guys. I can't wait for all the speculation to end though... lets get to baseball When you're non-tendering players that would be getting regular playing time anywhere else, you are pretty deep. It would be kind of nice to have Felix Diaz right about now though.

QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) If this is talking about Spring Training this year, the number is wrong According to this, those 5 pitchers have thrown 33 innings, not 43, while allowing 11 earned runs. So the ERA is 3.00, not 2.30. Still good though This changes absolutely everything. They suckass now. But seriously, you thought the Sox rotation was good last year with the best top 4 in the league...the Sox could realistically have FIVE 15 game winners...has that ever been done? Not to mention some little toothpick in the pen who will (likely) be joining the rotation, with the only way he doesn't join is if the Sox were to, for whatever reason, resign Contreras.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) Moulds asks Bills to release or trade him. The writings been on the wall for a little while now. This just pretty much seals the deal. So what teams will end up being interested in Moulds? And what would the Bills be able to get for him?

QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) if I am Drew Brees why on earth would I want to go to the Saints? More guaranteed money...plain and simple. It's not like the Saints are a team in a horrible position - they have a good collection of talent there, but Aaron Brooks is about as bad a QB as there is.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) Maybe not, but the Bears will never sign the big free agents and take the next step, especially after a season like last year. Same old sorry act, even if maybe in this case they were right. Randle El is a big free agent? I view him as more like a glorified #3 receiver. OMG TRICK PLAYS!1!!1!11!! Hell of a special teamer(which can be found in the mid-to-late rounds in the draft if a team needs one), great for the occasional WR pass, and good as a 3rd option. That's about all I see Randle El as being. Not worth $5 mill a year...not worth $4 mill a year. The Bears will be just fine without him.

QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) Kind of a dumb signing if you ask me, especially with the draft being loaded with RB's who could prolly be just as effective as Taylor I think I would personally say more effective, but maybe that's just me. I honestly don't like the signing at all. Better, younger backs in the draft, plus the Queens already have a plethora of RBs as it is. Why would you spend any amount of money on a FA back?

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) Take it fwiw, but there's a rumor going around that an agreement has been reached to bring T R U back to the team. If true, it's another dumb move. There are at least 20 rookies who could outpost his ass w/o breaking a sweat... Clubhouse cancer Horrible move Constantly b****ing about his contract and his teammates, and is an egotistical bastard. This move is for the worse. Period.
