  1. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) hmm probably 2 top pitching prospects and a top OF prospect. They might even ask for Brian Anderson. But i do know Minnesota is always looking to improve there pitching depth down in the farm. KW and JR want to repeat THIS YEAR! Your right it probably wont happen. But like i said, never say never. There are pleanty of other OF options out there that would work also. I'm just interested in seeing what KW will do. 2 of Liotta, Lumsden, and Broadway, plus 1 of Sweeney and Anderson...for 3 months of Torii Hunter? KDub may want to win this year, but he's not stupid. You are more realistically looking at Brady Clark, Corey Patterson, or Lew Ford...good but not gold glove defensive players with good bats to go along with speed and good baseball instincts. They'll be a little cheaper and/or have more long term value to the Sox than one Torii Hunter will.
  2. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) I disagree. Yea it would take alot to bring Hunter over. However, it shouldn't take alot to bring over a decent reliever. Even if KW adds Hunter, he can still afford to bring in a few relievers. In a buyer's market, decent relievers can cost quite a bit. One may be surprised. Hunter would be a rent-a-player for the Sox, and knowing how much it would cost, it would be detrimental to the Sox in the long run to trade for Hunter. He can remain in your Sox fantasies, but I would bet good money he's not coming to Chicago.
  3. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) There might be an adjustment period if he's put back into CF, but the "scouting reports" I'm reading here sound encouraging. That said, Anderson's hitting really isn't a liability to this team. If KW goes after Ford or Clark, he'd damn well better put another arm or two in the 'pen. THAT'S what definitely needs to be addressed. It's been said all season long, Anderson isn't a liability until the offense starts to sour a little bit. Then he IS a liability. The pen needs to be addressed, but there are all kinds of guys you can plug into your pen over the course of a season...AAAA pitchers, waiver wire pickups, young kids on the 40-man...and Sox fans have seen them all already this season(Montero-Nelson-Tracey/McCarthy)...and we may end up seeing Hermanson give it a shot for 3-4 months getting cortizone shots very so often to try and get this team another ring.

    Crede

QUOTE(zach61 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) Too late, he already did. Guess he missed the WS last yr. He probably still thinks Jose Valentin should be our 3rd baseman. I think Jose Valentin should still be our 3B/SS... ...but that has more to do with a freakishly weird, yet completely natural obsession with the sexy beast that is Jose Valentin.
  5. She is undefeated as a Sox fan. RALLY GIANNA Congrats man
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) I would NEVER say such a thing! Jose uses pure Latin gusto to hit his homeruns, the guy just has a naturally ripped body that is the centerpiece of my dreams. Only if Widger is with him. Those two are the centerpiece of my dreams. Just a damn shame they never got to play on the same team.

    Crede

QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) Great point witesoxfan, though off the mark. By definition, if a player errors, he fails to make a play that's expected of MLB players. Even if I've never seen another 3Bman play, I know by the official scorer's tally that Crede failed to make a play that every other 3Bman is expected to make. So you are saying that it's a play every other player in the MLB makes because it was judged an error by an offcial scorer? That's about the worst reasoning ever. Official scorer's aren't exactly 100% accurate either. I didn't see the play...however, from what I have read, it was apparently a somewhat tough play to make, and only the throw should have been scored an error.
  8. QUOTE(Elcaballo45 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) Haha, thank you for doing the math.... Ill officially shut up now, I just love Uribe! You are not alone. I don't know how anyone can't love that pot-bellied shortstop.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:17 PM) That's all, and I hope this thread gets a bump later as you get a game winning hit. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS So it wasn't technically game-winning...still, it's fun
  10. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 04:12 AM) He had a steller year. Not multiple ones, only one. In 2002, when he was 26, he posted a .859 OPS (126 OPS+) with 29 HR and a .524 slugging percentage. Past that, he's been nothing special at the bat, and definitely isn't worth the $10.75 million he's being paid this year or $12 million option for next year. Haha, I remember making a bet with a Twins troll after the 2002 season on the old MLB White Sox board that Thomas would outproduce Hunter in 2003. That was awesome. ...and then the Twins won the division
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) Exactly, the only thing that worries me is his switching from the NL to the AL in the middle of the season. Over his 8 year career he's played for 3 different NL teams and finally becomming a good every day player when finally landing with the Brewers in '03 at the age of 30. Could he handle the American League? One can only hope he adjusts like Podsednik. They are from very similar situations...Podsednik was drafted by Texas, then wound up in Seattle, made his way to Milwaukee and was a solid player at a later age. He has handled the transition from Milwaukee to Chicago extremely well. There is one thing about last year's offense that this year's doesn't have yet, and that's a lineup with no easy out - and last year's offense didn't have it until August-September through October. Clark would sure as hell help that out a hell of a lot. KW, jump on it, jump on it, jump on it

    Crede

QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) Crede committed two errors on one play which any other 3Bman would have made and ended the inning, QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) That's hard to say since I don't watch many MLB games outside of Sox games, and can't follow other 3Bmen regularly.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) You know you loved it when he did his little kissy thing to the camera after hitting a homerun, it's so damn cute. JOSE VALENTIN?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) Do LB/DE transitions count? Because Derrick Thomas and Terrell Suggs would be high on that list. As would Willie McGinest. Of course, anyone in general. The ones that are publicized most are generally QB to WR, but I'm just wondering about all players that made position changes. And for that matter, DE's can move to DT even once in the NFL. I know for a fact Kevin Williams has played some DE for Minnesota, and he's a DT by nature...or maybe it's the other way around. I know he plays, or has played, both in the past.
  15. QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) Cintron is not that much if any upgrade in the hitting department and Uribe is a much better fielder. Are you friggin kidding me? Cintron, career .272 hitter, .727 OPS...hitting .269, .647 this year. While that OPS is actually bad, it's 86 points better than Uribe, and in the long run, I'd have to imagine Cintron's would be nearer .700-.725. If Mackowiak is out there killing this team with his defense to push BA, then I have no problem with Cintron at SS pushing Uribe...atleast Cintron is respectable at SS, opposed to Mack who is friggin dreadful in CF. QUOTE(Elcaballo45 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) One would think if you were comparing everyday players, but considering he's about 3 or 4 0-4's that would slide it back down to where Uribe is. My point is, try not to slob over someones knob because of one huge hit and just simply forget about what Uribe has meant to this ballclub the past couple of years. I don't think we're pushing Uribe aside, I think we're rather hoping Uribe picks it up with the stick. Everyone of us has seen first hand what the man can do with a glove, but defensive specialists are bench players. If you want to start, you have to be able to hit too. (and for the record, Cintron would have to go 0 for his next 32 to be at Uribe's average)
  16. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 10:06 PM) That Nebraska QB has to be anomg the worst Eric Crouch got pwned
  17. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) Marte mowed down the heart of the Rockies order in the 8th last night. Bring back the head case! HAIL NO
  18. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) If he were to come here, then Thome will have a few more homers since he won't be bringing them back against us. I think he would be a good, younger option if the Sox are looking to upgrade in centerfield and maybe give BA more time in AAA to improve his offense. Jim Thome would get no more homers...BA would rob them instead of Torii. I would be funnier if BA robbed Hunter of a homer. Hell, someone should just rob Hunter of a homer period...maybe he'll stop robbing them. And the Twins aren't going to trade their franchise player to their biggest rival. Not gonna happen
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) People got on Crede because the Sox' offense was horrendous last year and his poor bat was just contributing to one of the worst O's in baseball. Where as this year the Sox have one of the best offenses in baseball which helps coverup BA's shortcommings at the plate. Also it doesn't hurt that BA walks on a semi-regular basis where as Crede really didn't walk much during his struggles early on. That, and defense is a little more important in CF than it is at 3B. I also think Anderson is better defensively in CF than Crede is at 3B too, which helps a lot with that too.
  20. I was thinking about this topic the other day and was wondering who some of the best players to change position from college to the pros were in history. The two names that come to mind immediately for we young-ins are Hines Ward, Antwaan Randle-El, and Matt Jones, but there are more than that. So just for debate during s***ty times for the Sox, and for football gurus, who were some of the best of the past, and for the matter, even now? And while we're at the best, maybe we can even name some of the worst too.
  21. And the Cubs traded this guy to get a speedy CFer. Oh, the irony
  22. If collectively Soxtalk can come to the conclusion that BA is helping the Sox rather than hurting, let's hope the upper management who are paid to make these decisions can come to the right conclusion as well...or let's atleast hope that Brooks is checking up on us and talking to Kdubs
  23. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 27, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) If the O's are going to trade an OF, it'll be Luis Matos not Corey Patterson. What the hell were the Cubs supposed to be trading to Baltimore for Matos earlier this year?
  24. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 27, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) Gload starting in CF. I just threw up a little in my mouth
