I don't want JD. Not only is he injury prone as all hell, but I'm also pretty sure he is a Boras client. Regardless...those of us who want JD...where in the hell are you going to put him? Maggs in RF, Lee in LF, and Drew cannot/should not play CF. Finley makes the most sense out of anyone mentioned here as far as I'm concerned.

Just to add on to this ERA/WHIP argument... To me, WHIP is more important for relievers, while ERA is more important for starters. I don't want my relievers allowing baserunners. I don't want my starters allowing runs. Is that reasonable?
-
His ERA should not be 4.67. Period. I don't give a s*** if his ERA is 3.50, 3.75, something like that. 4.67 is unacceptable.

LMFAO. That just sounds like Ozzie.

That's OK though. I bowl with Fred Flinstone every Friday night. He's a good guy. Seriously though, I would love to have Finley. Might not cost a lot, would be a good bat for the middle of the lineup, and is gone next year. What's wrong with that?

I thought the one last night about the special people's games was OK. Funniest part was probably when Peter was thinking to himself, and decided he would pretend to be handicapped so he could get some attention. He starts rubbing his chin in thought of how to be handicapped, and he pulls his chin off and is like "How did those get there?" and sticks them in his pants.

He's good against lefties, so let him hit against lefties. Problem solved.

League #1 fantasy baseball thread

Yeah yeah, you can have first place for now. Wait till August. You'll all be in my rear view mirror. -
Who cares about his ERA, I'll tell you who, I care about his f***ing ERA. You can't be giving up runs on a consistent basis if you are going to be closer. Period.

Odd thing about this years all-star game
witesoxfan replied to Fall Out Boy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That doesn't matter. He's a catcher on the All-Star ballot, and, assuming he is voted in as a catcher, that's where he'll start. -
I do that deal in a heartbeat. However, I don't think the M's do. Too much salary, not enough talent in return. Here's a better question. Do you trade Konerko, Diaz, Borchard, and a mid-level prospect for Garcia? I personally, honest to god, probably do. I would prefer that it be Diaz and Rauch, but at some point, you have to give in. They would probably push for Borchard, and while he is heating up, it is hard not to. At the very least, I wait it out and see if Borchard slows down. If he does, then I make the trade. To fill in for Paulie, you put in Gload. If he can't put up .270 with an .750-.800 OPS, go out and get a Randall Simon. Getting Randall Simon would probably cost another mid-level prospect...not too much. He fills in and could very well hit 5th for us.

s*** a lot of people from here went. That was an awesome show the Sox put up on Sunday, I'll say that much for sure.

Gammons calls the Sox one of the best teams
witesoxfan replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So you are calling almost everyone on here a dumbass? Most people, me included, had this team finishing quite poorly in February and March. I thought they were a 3rd place team that would be lucky to win 75 games in February. That feeling changed after a couple weeks of ST. I could tell confidence was building, and I had a good feeling they were atleast going to be pretty good. -
Gammons calls the Sox one of the best teams
witesoxfan replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So he was telling the truth. Don't get too excited. I think we all knew that we were one of the best teams in the AL. The offense seems to be potent again, and the starting pitching is good. We just need some bullpen depth, and we are there. -
He's making $6 mill. His ERA should be, at the very least, under 4, and should probably be under 3. Instead, his ERA is 4.67(which alone qualifies him for a C), but his WHIP of 1.38 and his BB/9 of right around 4.5 is all it takes for me. Also, 3 homers in 17.3 innings? That is quite a bit, probably too many. Then again, 93-95 MPH heat gets hit pretty hard sometimes. You bring up saves and sv%. I can also say to you that he DAMN near blew 2 saves in Baltimore. He got lucky as hell that he didn't. Koch is a C, and there is nothing to argue about. That might improve, but I'm not sure we're that lucky.

I like how it was two AL pitchers that were quoted. Methinks that they think USCF is b****in' !

Annie Duke would be alright to win it. If any woman won it, I would hope it would be her. I hate Hellmuth too. He has an ego and it pisses me off. I hope he and Sam Grizzle get at a table again this year. Grizzle always rips into Phil, and I always laugh my ass off at Sam. I think what pisses me off most about Phil is the way he reacts after losing a hand. He gets up and basically cries. I want to smack him when he does that s***...it's just so disrespectful and arrogant.

Oh s*** I watch poker as often as I can. Poker, unlike most people think, is a skill game. I don't think I'd call it a sport, but it definately involves skill. Reading players, knowing how much to bet, knowing when to bet, knowing when to bluff, how much to bet when you bluff, knowing when to fold, knowing when to call, etc, all involves a lot of skill. There is luck involved as well, but if it were all luck, why is Phil Hellmuth constantly doing well, and Phil Ivey, Dan Harrington, Howard Lederer, Scotty Nguyen, Brunson Doyle, Amarillo Slim, etc. ? Anyways, damn, Money and Farha are toast. So much for a repeat champ. Too bad Sammy's gone too...he's fun to watch play. He probably started playing too many hands and had to make a move, and got knocked out. Too bad.

My biggest pet peeve has already been talked about. Wait until the f***ing play is over and then get up. I swear to God in the Metrodome, people would watch the s*** that goes on between innings AND THEN go to the bathroom or get some (more) food once the inning starts. I was starting to get pissed as hell. I don't like the cellphone thing, but so long as people don't use their cell phones all the f***ing time, I could give a s***. Also, I like the wave, especially when they do it for our players. The Twins fans in the dome yesterday were doing the wave right before Rowand's homer. It was funny ass s***, because they just got the wave done right and it started going around the entire stadium and the ball went over the baggie. I laughed my ass off.

Just be thankful we have some damn good mods. Cubs fans are lucky to last an hour here(unless they are not causing trouble).

I've always felt Aaron Rowand is a pretty good CFer(and for the most part, his range factor agrees...in the year he started the most games, 2002, his range factor was 3.08 with the league's average being 2.78), especially considering his natural postion is RF. He's got a strong arm, reads the ball well off the bat, and has some speed to get to the ball. I have no problems defensively with Aaron in CF. It's his bat that gets him in trouble, especially against RHP.
-
I agreed with his rankings, but said some are questionable. Regardless, Jackson hasn't exactly been a guy who came in and pitched shutout innings in huge games. His fastball is 85-88, and his only other pitch is a slider that gets worse as he grows older. He is a good middle reliever, but has put up most of his numbers in non-pressure situations. He hasn't been real bad, but one could most definately argue that he hasn't been that good either. I'm not.
-
The only one I don't agree with is Big MO. Personally, I think he has been great. I was expecting more .250-ish with a little less power then he's put up. He's actually doing quite well. I'd have him as a low-to-mid B at the very least. He has been a very pleasant surprise. Otherwise, I agree for the most part. There are some questionable ones(Thomas possibly too low, Jackson possibly too high, Koch possibly too low) but I agree with the rankings, that is, except for Big MO, as I already said.

Uribe's hitting .340 and is playing 2B, SS, and 3B. What the hell was so hard about that? As I have said before, at some point, you have to decide whether you want Timo Perez(and Aaron Rowand against LHP) or Joe Crede out there for you, because at this point, we have Uribe, Harris, and Valentin all playing pretty much 2 spots with Perez/Rowand in CF(which seems to be fine so far), and Crede is hitting .215 at 3B. Something has to be done. Crede may very well be the next Robin Ventura, but right now, he is not. If we can get an ace, but it includes having to give up Crede, you do it. BTW, to answer the original question...Rowand hits lefties well(as I believe hammerhead pointed out). Not so much righties.
