  1. Playing NCAAF 2004, WSB 2k3, and Halo(but more so the first two, because I'm on legendary for Halo, and it's hard as s***....I always die in like 3 seconds). Other then that, not much. Waiting for Halo 2 to come out and MVP 2004 as well.
  2. Except the Vikings, who lost to the 4 worst teams in the league(Giants, Cardinals, Raiders, Chargers)
  3. Why wouldn't Parcells take a RB? One of Jones/Jackson/Jones should be available at 22, and their running game last year was some nasty s***. I thought that both passing and running game was s*** last year, but the running game more so then the passing game. If Dallas goes into next year with Carter and Hambrick still starting, I look for a 6-10 or a 7-9 season, I don't care what they did last year or how Parcells teams always progress.
  4. I'm not sure anyone has mentioned it yet, but hasn't Maddux said that he will not play in the AL because of the DH? I thought I'd heard that somewhere and that he will only play in the NL. Or in other words, you can count 14 teams out right away.
  5. BTW, I would definately have to say this is the first real tough choice of the draft.
  6. He's talking about Reed And there are more exceptions to the corner-OF homer rule then just Ichiro. Shannon Stewart, Aaron Guiel(while he isn't good, he was decent for KC last year), Randy Winn as well...Toronto had to have had one...but yes, corner OF spots are more for power hitters then average hitters, but as has been proved before, you don't need to be. Also, the same thing applies to 1B. Mientkiewicz and JT Snow come to mind immediately, and I'm sure there are more as well....if the rumors are true about Erstad moving to 1B, he qualifies for that as well.
  7. Well we'd have 3 better options at the majors, and we're not going to use Reed from the bench. What do you want to do, start him over Rowand when Rowand is the better man just because he is our #1 prospect? Not gonna happen. Besides, Reed only has like a half of a year at AA. Miguel Olivo had a full year(or 2) at AA, and while Olivo isn't quite the hitter Reed is, IMO, it wouldn't make much of a difference. Reed would be in over his head if he was in the majors and would probably hit less then .250 when you need .265-.275.
  8. Did you root for Flash Gordon last year? Or to and extent, Jon Garland? And I don't think rooting for former Cubs players is like eating your poop because you're starving. I think it's like drinking your pee because your dehydrated. Rooting for former Twins players is like eating your poop because you're starving.
  9. And we probably will for the rest of Thomas's career as well. Also, that saying....don't ask a player to do something they can't....is part of what scares me about Ozzie. IIRC, he said something about players bunting when I tell them to....is this not doing the exact opposite of that saying, and could potentially in the end be devastating?
  10. So I'll just assume you hated getting Alomar Jr, Alomar, Colon, and Lofton as well. I've said several times on here that I would root for Mientkiewicz and Pierzynski and Hunter if they played for the Sox just because of the way they play the game. I think it would be the same situation that I had with Colon(rooted against him with Cleveland, couldn't care less when he was with Montreal, cheered my ass off for him with us, and now I will root against him wherever his job will take him, be it Anaheim, be it Seattle, be it a Latin American team, be it a Senior-Celebrity softball game 30 years from now....always and forever will I root against him... ...unless he puts on that White Sox uniform again, when I will cheer for him solely because of the uni he has on. There is not a player on the White Sox I have ever rooted against. I have disliked some(the best example is Royce Clayton, but in June and the part of July he was with us of 2002, I detested Kenny Lofton, but I still cheered for them anyways). I personally find it terrible that you would root against someone because of the kind of person they are or they kind of player they are. If they wear a White Sox uniform, I feel you should cheer them on. I can't stand Derek Jeter, but he puts on those White Sox pinstripes, I'd be wishing him nothing but the best. We get the biggest assclown in the MLB(whoever you feel it may be), and I will cheer for him. Plain and simple, I find it hard to believe you are a true die hard if you would not cheer for someone because they made some negative comments about the White Sox. Quite honestly, I find it silly. So to me anyways, I think you are lying in one way or another....either you aren't a die hard, or you would cheer for Mientkiewicz. Maybe it's just me though.
  11. Almost, so I'll take it he benches 280-300? Damn....I can bench 120, so I'm getting there.
  12. I said Winslow....they do need help offensively. However, I wouldn't rule out Smith or Udezi either. With Bruce Smith's retirement, they do need a DE. I could see them trading down too if they think they can get either at maybe 8 or 10. Maybe the Texans want to make sure they get Winslow or Taylor. Who knows.
  13. Which is why I would like to see him in the field in limited duty. It has been shown on here(in fact, I did it) that he does do better when in the field. He would put up something like .320 45 145 if he played 1B all the time, but then you add what happened in 2001, and you may end up with .220 4 20 again and out for the year in late April, which is why we need someone else to play 1B most of the time. Playing 1B now and then would be good for him. Just not all the time.
  14. But he puts the ball in play, and that is something I would like to see. He is the proto-typical .300 average .320 OBP kind of guy. I don't know how often that occurs, but it happens here. IMO though, guys can get on base all they want. They still need to get past 1B. We had all kinds of guys on last year. They ended up going to the bench talking to their teammate who just got them out by grounding into a DP. I don't want to accept getting on base. I want guys who can get base hits WITH guys on base. Simon did that a time or two last year.
  15. Something just scares me about Thomas in the field. I think it has something to do with him trying to do too much, make the highlight reel, and seeing him accomplish that goal...in a negative way. I have vivid images of him going all out trying to dive for an Ichiro base hit and seeing Thomas for the last time that year in April. Not something I like a whole hell of a lot. I think he'd be smarter then that this time around, but that has left a lasting impression on me, and I wouldn't like to see it again. Like I said, I think he should play in the field...it helps him at the plate and does a lot more as well. But I don't think he should play 1B any more then 25% of the time.
  16. What Brando's thinking is(and my thinking as well) is that the Dodgers look at Konerko's $8 mill and his .235 18 65 season last year and say how do we know he is not going to duplicate that next year? It's the same thing we as Sox fans are doing to Odalis Perez. We look at his 2003 season, see 10-12 with a 4.52 ERA and hear he is bad in the clubhouse and say we don't want that s***. How do we know that Konerko doesn't revert back to his 02 form only he maintains that throughout the whole year and has an awesome season, putting up a .320 35 120 campaign, and Odalis Perez has an awesome year, only a little better then 02, and goes, say, 18-7 with a 2.85 ERA and a WHIP of 1.05....or maybe both remain in their 03 form and are s***ty again in 04. Maybe one is better then the other, or maybe they hit a happy medium. Who knows. IMO, Odalis Perez and Paul Konerko are in the same boat, that is, both are coming off of s***ty years, both are overpaid in some fashion, and both are surplus of their respective team's depth at the position. That being said, I think Perez is better then Konerko and has more upside then Konerko and also makes less, making a Konerko for Perez deal slightly favoring us, enough as to where LA would turn it down. We give them a decent prospect....maybe Diaz, maybe Pacheco, maybe Rauch....and they accept.
  17. Which is why we are constantly an 80-85 win team instead of 90-100 win team.
  18. But Thomas can't play 1B all the time(I would say 25% tops), and Lee DHs with Reed in LF, where does that leave Thomas? On the bench? I think not. And Reed isn't ready anyways. He could put up solid numbers, but he's only had like a half of a year in AA....Miguel Olivo had a year or two in AA and look what he did last year. Given, Miguel isn't exactly the hitter Reed is, but there is not a huge difference between .220 and .250 when you need .280-.300. I personally think JR would be in over his head at the major league level. I think he'd be better suited to start at AA and then jump to AAA mid season and then come up in September and hopefully be ready by 2005. And Reed wouldn't be that much better defensively then Lee in LF. Lee actually has improved quite a bit defensively and is now in the category of average, and not s***ty. If we can, I move Konerko to LA for Perez, sign Randall Simon with part of the $3 mill we save, and call the offseason good.
  19. Why would they move Ichiro to 1B? Who do they have in CF that is blocking Ichiro from going there? Because I know for a fact that they have John Olerud blocking him from going to 1B.
  20. Because he is a LH bat, can hit the ball out of the ballpark, and hits the ball harder then hell. He doesn't walk, and that is his biggest knock. That and he also whacks weiners.
  21. I understand your argument, but Thomas can't play 1B everyday. I could see once or twice a week, maybe even more sometimes, but not much more then that. He's not bad with the glove, but he can't throw at all. The throw to 2B for a 3-6-3 or a 3-6-1 DP is not something you will see often for Thomas. Usually you see him field the ball and take it to first himself. If Konerko would be dealt(and I think he is the only one that should be dealt because he is the only one to have an albatross of a contract), Thomas would DH most of the time, and someone like Gload or Travis Lee or Randall Simon(who would be my choice) would come in and would play 1B 75% of the time, or maybe we trade for someone....who knows. Lee would remain in LF, Rowand in CF, and Maggs in RF.
  22. The two alphabet boys play the game the way it is supposed to be played. If I did not dislike the Twins as much as I do, I would enjoy watching Twins games just to see Pierzynski and Mientkiewicz and Hunter play. Not that I don't like seeing AJ in a Giants uniform or anything That guy was a major pain in our ass and I am happy as f***ing hell that I do not have to see him against the White Sox this year, that is, unless both the Giants and the White Sox make the World Series, and the odds of that happening are very small, not only because I don't think the White Sox will do much of anything this year, but plain and simply because the odds of it are in fact very small.
