Soxtalk Rolling Mock Draft
witesoxfan replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Bull. It doesn't matter if a guy is struggling or he is messed up in the head. You keep him in there and help him figure it out. They had nothing to play for anyway, besides being a spoiler(because they lost a respectable record when they lost their 9th game). Why start the 59-year old Flutie over the QB of the future, even if he is struggling and is messed up mentally? Jacksonville was in the same boat much of the year, and they stuck with their QB of the future, even when he struggled and was messed up mentally instead of going to Mark Brunell. Why's that? San Diego will pick Manning. You think of what the Colts are right now with Peyton as the QB, James as the HB, and Harrison at WR....that's the Chargers within 5 years if everything goes par for the course, only they will probably be better. Better running game for sure, and I've heard some reports where some think that Eli could be better then Peyton, though nothing is a given for sure. Plain and simple, if San Diego does NOT pick Manning, whoever did not select him someway somehow should be slapped, because if that's the same guy that let Vick go to the Falcons, he is an idiot. Manning is a can't miss prospect and the Chargers will take him. Anyways, from what I've heard, there is no paperwork left and Fitzgerald will be available in the draft. The Raiders will take him, and then the Cardinals will take Roethlisberger. -
I would agree with Ozzie batting Frank cleanup....if he is going to try for homers, while Maggs is more of an RBI guy, would it not make sense to have your RBI guy before your home run guy so this way your RBI guy gets more opportunities to drive in runs while your home run guy still gets the same opportunities to go deep?
-
I do recall that play. Manning was basically b****slapped by Givens without the slapping. That was complete ownership.

You and I think a like. I knew when the Panthers left New England a minute and then some on the clock that it was over. Kasay kicking it out of bounds just helped speed the process.

About the Mabry-Giambi trade, I believe in the book Moneyball Lewis writes about how Beane just made the trade to get the Giambi name out of the organization, and that he did just in fact get lucky with Mabry.

What's so hard about saying "No comment"?

That was a fun game. However, I knew it was over when Proehl caught the TD pass with 1:08 or whatever was left on the clock. You can't give Brady that much time left. This game was too eerily similar to Superbowl XXXVI.

I think we should agree on this point and end it, because I do agree with this.
-
If he did that, it would probably go down. He hit as bad against lefties left-handed as he does right-handed. We're better just using him only against righties.

I get what I have said from watching Culpepper on the field, not from looking at numbers. You can show me all the stats you want, but from what I can tell you from just seeing him play he just does not look like a winner on the field(call it cheesy if you want to, that's just the kind of feeling I get watching him). If the Vikings win a Superbowl within the next 5 years, I would venture to say that it will be because of something other then Culpepper's QBing. McNair I'm not sure about next year, but I do see him winning one eventually. He is, IMO, the best black QB in the game, and I almost have to consider him top 3 in the league, but I'll settle for top 5. Not many are better then he is. Vick will. As I said, I think he will eventually grow into the McNair type mold and will become a pass first, pass second, see nothing and panic, then run before getting decapitated by a linebacker, though I think he could get a few more yards now and then. You get him a good defense and a weapon or two offensively and they are easily one of the toughest teams in the league. Look at their team from two years ago, Vick's first(or was it second? I'm a little shady on it) full year as starter, and with a solid but not great defense and very little offensive help other then himself, he took his team to the divisional round of the playoffs. Any more help, and they are Superbowl bound and probably winning the Superbowl. McNair and Vick are about the only two I see being the main parts of their team and then winning the whole thing. McNabb is different in that I think the Eagles will win because of a good defensive scheme and not because McNabb is an incredibly good QB. While he is good, I just don't see him as a guy that will be the heart of soul of his team like I think Vick and McNair will. Another you forgot to mention was Aaron Brooks in NO, and really he another QB like Culpepper....all kinds of talent, but occassionally will make a dumbass move or two, and that will cost his team the game.

Ahh, the David Wells program. I haven't started that one yet. I'll probably try it in 40-50 years.

Put down the crack pipe my friend.

I'll take his .230 25 70 with 20-25 errors over god-knows-what Uribe would put up.....maybe .210 5 40 with an OBP of .260 and maybe 5-10 fewer errors....BFD if you ask me. I'll take Jose over Uribe every day. BTW, I did not read the article, but me personally, I feel Jose is one of those guys that has the right to say some controversial things without pushing it. Whether you feel he pushed it or not is up to you....I haven't even made up my mind whether or not he has because I haven't read it, as I said.

Federer dominates, 3 sets to love. The first set was entertaining, but then Federer turned it on, and Safin did not. It almost looked like Safin was tired out there.

I doubt Culpepper does. He is my best example of that type. He's just a dumbass. I don't think he'll ever lead a team to a Superbowl. I would venture to guess that Vick does, but it will be when he becomes a much better, more prolific passer, like the transformation Steve McNair has made over the past 3 years or so. Of those black QB's mentioned on here, I believe McNair has the best chance to lead a team to the Superbowl and win.....hell, he came up a yard short of doing it 5 years ago. He most resembles the typical NFL QB....pass first, pass second, panic, then scamper for a few yards before being completely destroyed by a linebacker. I believe McNair will someday win a Superbowl with him being the main reason why....I can't really say that about either Vick nor McNabb, and especially about Culpepper. McNabb falls somewhere between Vick and McNair. He's not quite Vick in running it seemingly every other play, but he will tuck the ball and run more often then the average QB, not looking to pass. He also may or may not....I can't be sure. As far as Kordell Stewart is concerned....that was quite lucky. I can't explain that.

Exactly. I would not be surprised that if he got an inside the park homer this year in all reality. Detroit's outfield is like triple city, and if a ball he hits bounces off the wall funny, he could get in standind up. Also, I could see him playing 140-150 games this year with the DH and all.

I thought it was the largest beer garden? Or maybe the largest urinal? I guess whatever floats your boat.

I found it like in November of 02....so I am in the middle of my second year. Gotta love it.

Supernuke, is that -60 with the wind chill or without? Either way, that'd some cold ass s***. I'll take my -15 below and go sun bathing. BTW, Grand Forks, North Dakota hit an all time low this morning of -44 below(well, that is since 1905 when they started keeping track of it all). I'd heard some nasty stories about Grand Forks, but if -44 is the lowest it's ever gotten, that isn't so bad. I've also heard that Williston, North Dakota has gotten to -50. That's nothing compared to that Canada country up north though.

From what I can recall, I believe the Capitals have 2 black players, Carter and maybe it is Greere, I'm not sure. I saw a Caps-Flyers game the other night and saw Carter and then saw another too. As for the topic at hand, I personally think it is a natural advantage. I'm not sure why, but you really do not see a lot of big, huge, white guys, and for some reason, black men do seem to be quicker. But I noticed something watching Philadelphia take on Carolina in the NFC Championship game. Now, I do not intend to offend anyone who is black that is on these boards, but has anyone realized that only like 1 black QB has ever won the Superbowl? And that all the black QBs nowadays seems to want to run more then pass, or that when they pass, their passes are worse? It just seems that black QBs do not have the great pocket presence that many other white QBs do. Maybe it isn't natural advantage. Maybe they just work their asses off and have a better work ethic because it has been inherited from years of slavery, where all they could do was work. I've just always thought that maybe that was passed on somehow in the genes and that because of that, blacks have better work ethics, and due to that, they get stronger faster, have gotten faster in speed faster, et all. Who knows?

Maybe Bill Gates is going to buy us! Or maybe not.
