Yeah, Vander Wal is still around....he could come cheaply as well...and I know he can play the corner OF positions as well as 1B....and he may be able to play CF as well. I'd like either pickup(Clark or Vander Wal)....however, if I'm not mistaken, Orlando Palmeiro can play 1B as well....maybe we could sign him as well.
  2. I don't think so....Gord Ash is worse than KW.

If we take 12 pitchers, Almonte, not Ginter, will be the 12th man. Jimenez will be the 2Bmen If you want a CFer who is a sleeper in making the team starting, go with Willie Harris....he had a good winter....I wouldn't be surprised to see Rowand and Harris platoon in CF....but I'm expecting Rowand out of ST. If Graffy isn't ready, expect newly acquired Jorge Nunez or Tim Hummel to take over the utility IF/pinch hitter for us until Graffy is ready(if he isn't ready by Opening Day) Both Harris and Paul will make the roster....or atleast Harris will. If Paul is cut out of ST, then he has to clear waivers before he can go back down to the minors and with catching as weak as it is offensively and Paul being decent offensively, some team will pick him up. I'd say either Paul makes the team out of ST, or he is gone from the system....which is why I find it almost crucial to pick up either Eddie Perez or Tom Lampkin to a minor league deal....have them start in the minors and if and when Alomar goes down, then we use Perez/Lampkin as the backup. Simple as that. After that, I'd have a bench of Nunez/Hummel(until Graffy is ready), Rios, Harris, Alomar, someone who can play 1B(other than Thomas)....maybe Tony Clark if he comes cheaply(which he probably should)....he has hit well in the past, but would mainly be used as a defensive guy who would give Konerko an off-day every now and then. If he could hit well off the bench for us(maybe .260 7 30 or something like that) then it would be really nice....great teams have very deep benches....and we could still use some depth to our bench....and he's left-handed. Sign him for maybe $500,000 with the possibility of making anywhere between $750,000-$1 million or something like that.
  4. Nothing bad about that
  5. He's decent with the bat and has decent speed....he's just a 3rd string catcher who can't go back down to the minors without clearing waivers first. Have him learn 3B, 1B, LF and RF, along with SS, 2B and CF as possibilities along the way, and he has some value. As a plain catcher, he has no value whatsoever(unless your team is the Montreal Expos...I don't know why we couldn't have traded him along with Biddle and Liefer in that deal and then signed Eddie Perez or Tom Lampkin to a minor league deal). Guys that can play all 9 positions like that are very valuable. Hell, signing Lampkin or Perez to a minor league deal would still be a good idea....atleast then we could get rid of Paul.
  6. If we look like the Yanks, then the Cubs look like the Mets....because atleast we will be good after all of our offseason moves!
  7. Josh Paul should be taking notes

I wouldn't go to see Maggs shake his ass....but that's just my opinion!
  9. You know what's ironic about all this? As of right now, we have a black manager and a black GM....we have 1 black hitter in our lineup(Frank Thomas) and we have one black relief pitcher(newly signed Tom Gordon) We have as many black men(Manuel and Williams) at key managing positions in our organization as we do on our 25-man roster(Thomas and Gordon). Just a little tidbit.
  10. Rauch wasn't really rushed, as he had had a couple years experience and no one knew how he was going to pitch coming back from his injury, but he was forced into the rotation....coming out of ST, the Sox had intended on using Glover out of the pen and Parque as a minor league pitcher....and that left us with 5 starters. I think he's learned that maybe we should try out more starters than 5 or so.
  11. Section 113....that was a good post...but I gotta ask....do you know who is quoted as saying that first? Because it is a very good quote to live by
  12. LDF....who do you leave off the roster than? Koch, Gordon, Wunsch and White are locks to make it because they are signed to contracts, Marte and Glover are because they have proved they are good pitchers in the past....there is no one there to leave off. I think he'll be in AAA and if one of the lefties goes down, then he comes up first(not Sanders...my bad)...I assume what he's doing in AAA is simply stretching out his arm to gain stamina....he's only 21 or so, so he's got plenty of time to do it. As long as he isn't traded or blows out his arm, we are OK...and I think he's got a pretty good idea of what he's doing...so he won't blow it out.
  13. In other words - maybe 3 times what KW offered Buehrle -- Sad, but true.
  14. Exactly my thinking mac...but I don't really care whether or not we carry 11 or 12....I'd rather carry 11, so our bench could be a bit deeper(as we didn't have much of a bench last year), but either one is fine....if someone goes down, than Almonte/Sanders takes their spot, unless it's in the rotation, in which case White/Stewart takes their spot....God, I hope none of our starters goes down. If our starting rotation is healthy all year, I will say that we will win the division.
  15. I suppose, but we won't get much for them....unless we plan on trading for Javier Vazquez...and you think that we'll get him for cheap? I don't...the most we'll get is prospects...I'd trade Ginter, Porzio and Sanders for a couple good prospects about now....if anyone has a decent 1B prospect and a decent catching prospect(in this case, it means that Olivo is a good catching prospect....decent is a catcher that could play like Mark Johnson) that they'd deal for 3 pitchers that may or may not be good. We may need some people in those positions. That would be a good deal, IMO.
  16. All were treated like s*** before they left/will leave?
  17. If that's regarding me.....I don't mind. Just let them know that Mark is the man, and don't let anyone forget it either.
  18. I think he could be a swingman type....spot start occasionally, come in as a middle reliever and do long relief as well. Regardless...I do like the signing.
  19. AHA! Found a source....White Sox's homepage. Read up Rick White signs with Sox
  20. Uhh....kruzer....I'd delete that post if I were you. HSC knows her stuff....and she knows how to judge talent when she sees it. I'll take her word before yours....and when she's high on a player, they will probably be good. I think Olivo will probably be good.....and even he flops offensively, he's still got good defense and a great arm....and he's quick and fast....so when he does get hits, he can steal a base and get into scoring position....plus he brings 10-20 homer potential to the plate as well Olivo's good....and I think you'll like him. I haven't seen him play yet, but I think I will like him. As for Rowand....I think you'll be surprised by him. He's a gritty player that will play good defense with a good arm in the field and I think he'll probably hit .280 or so with 15 homers, 65 RBIs and 15-20 SBs with some pretty good bunts in there as well. He's better than anything we have for CF right now. The Sox have about another $3 mill to spend at most....you think we're going to get IRod at $3 mill? I don't think so...I'd have to agree in the fact that if we add anything more to the team that it should and will be pitching. You can never have enough pitching. Ever.
  21. I could, and probably should, flip out on roman....I won't though. However, just because you support someone or something doesn't mean you have to all the time....I'm leaning towards supporting KW....in all honesty, I am. But I'm pissed enough at KW right now for lying about our BEST pitcher's supposed rejection of a Zito-like deal, when in fact it was more like a Wunsch-like deal. KW can be an asshole...he doesn't have to show us that anymore. I don't believe that Mark wants to leave....but he wants to get KW the hell out of here, or he atleast wants to have KW show Mark some repsect....hell, Mark practically has more career wins than KW had career hits. I think KW owes Mark a hell of a lot of respect....think about it this way guys. If we don't have Buehrle's success, we don't have Colon...we don't have Gordon....we probably don't have Thomas back....we don't have anyone, except maybe Alomar....we wouldn't have had to have lived through the Ritchie experience, but that would have left us with a rotation of 5 unknowns going into 2002...and probably 70-75 wins(because I don't think Kipper would have had the success he had in Pittsburgh under Nardi). Without Buehrle, we are nothing. He took this organization and put it on his back in 2001 and 2002 and made something out of nothing....without Buehrle, we are a rebuilding team right now and you could f***ing hand the division crown to Minnesota after about April 5th. That is how much Buehrle has meant to us.....and to treat him like KW has is complete bulls***. I think I've explained myself.....for all you that care, that's my complete opinion on the KW-MB crisis(as roman calls it)....we need Buehrle more than many people can imagine. He deserves about $10 million for all he's done for us...instead, he gets $15,000 taken away from his salary and then has his proposed contract lied about....regarding this subject....f*** you KW :fyou That's all I gotta say.
  22. As of right now, ESPNews's bottom line is my only source for this information....but it said that we came to terms with Rick White....that's pretty good news. He's a good arm in the bullpen who could spot start....I like it. KW, as stupid as he is, may actually know what he is doing. I'm not sure if it's official or anything, but I did see it there. BTW....before that was the Red Sox signing of David Ortiz...and it said he was a 1B/OF....not so sure about that one....LOL
  23. Yeah, right....the same way like he will deal out and get a good starting pitcher that costs money. Oh wait a second..... Nah, still doubtful

And kids wonder why the hell you take spelling in school! JR should have checked KW's report card from about 1st grade....if you don't know the difference between Barry and Berry, than you should get the hell out of here.

Unless it's 4 innings....I wouldn't mind a 4 inning start out of Glover...he does very well the first time through the lineup, but sucks after that...4 innings is just to save the bullpen for one inning. That would be a gut check....to see how good our bullpen really is. See if it could go one full game by itself and win...i bet it could. From Glover(4IP), to Wunsch(1), to Almonte(1), to Gordon(1), to Marte(1), to Koch(1).....I bet it could go the game.
