Chris Sale to start Thu May 22 vs Yankees

OU: 129.5 pitches I'm taking way, way, way over -
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 22, 2014 -> 10:42 AM) He's obviously not out of options yes? I would think that would be the case by now. If you get called up to the big leagues and stay with the MLB team, you do not use an option. Pretty sure this is only his second option.

Which Sox are going to be traded this summer?

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 22, 2014 -> 10:06 AM) Ok, for serious, who would you rather have playing third base, defensively only, for the rest of this year: a. Paul Konerko b. a 6'x6' plywood wall You and your trick questions. c. Rubber wall positioned so that ricochets glance towards 1B -
QUOTE (bmags @ May 22, 2014 -> 09:59 AM) Interesting name you left out there. Of course, who could forget DJ Augustin?

QUOTE (Reddy @ May 22, 2014 -> 09:31 AM) Southern most tip of North America? When'd he start and where from? In a year I'd imagine you could get to the tip of South America! Very cool though. Seems he's stayed anywhere from 3-7 days in each new location. Gotta say, I do respect the hell out of you. I do not have the cojones to do this.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 21, 2014 -> 08:54 PM) There's got to be something missing in this story. Seems with as well-respected as Joe Maddon is around the game, he SHOULD/WOULD have had problems/issues with Keppinger as well. Surely, Hahn's going to do his due dilgence with a three year contract. Ironic, in that the last three year contract went to someone even more universally-loved in the clubhouse than even Gillaspie (Mark Teahen) who couldn't really play baseball well. Maybe he was going through some personal problems, like Alexei last year with his father-in-law. I'm sure Joe Maddon is a f***ing dick too.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 22, 2014 -> 09:02 AM) Herbert Perry That's merely wishful thinking. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 22, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) Jeff Keppinger. You watch your mouth. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 22, 2014 -> 07:54 AM) Goldberg at 7 and Vance being close to Top 10 are the two biggest surprises I've seen on a list so far. I just don't agree with that top 10 at all. Trey Michalczewski at 3 is way too high while Hawkins all the way down at 9 is ridiculous.

Honestly, the best thing to do would be to find a new location. Wrigley Field is a f***ing dump.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 22, 2014 -> 08:22 AM) Who do you think will be the starting 3B for the Chicago White Sox on Opening Day in 2015, Conor or Matt Davidson? Juan Uribe. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 22, 2014 -> 08:37 AM) You should use the advanced metrics, but if that's all you use, you will be in trouble. xFIP says Gavin Floyd was a better pitcher for the White Sox than Mark Buehrle. Is there really anyone who would rather have had Gavin on the mound in a must win game than Buehrle? I have never met nor talked to nor read a single person who used solely sabermetric statistics.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 22, 2014 -> 08:15 AM) Interesting that the Mets and Rangers are supposed to be highly analytical organizations but both are in the top 6 in MLB in Sac Bunts. Disdain for the sac bunt is one of the calling cards of analytics. For NL teams, it makes a bit more sense because pitchers are terrible at hitting. For the Rangers, their manager is Ron Washington, who is a f***ing moron but gets the most out of his guys.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 21, 2014 -> 09:46 PM) you consider OBP an advanced metric. It's not. It was a statistic made popular and relevant by the SABR community, but there are so, so many other stats out there right now that do more than OBP - wRC and wRC+, both - tell you how much more effective hitters are overall. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2014 -> 07:11 AM) You need to increase your posts per page to 50. Especially if you ever visit this site via mobile. I split the difference, cuz I view 75 (did you f***ing see what I did there????) QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 22, 2014 -> 07:52 AM) 100 posts per page FTW

Francisco has to clear waivers, but then the Sox will likely ask him to accept an assignment to Charlotte. He will likely accept, but I don't know him personally, so I can't say for sure. No greg, De Aza is not getting DFA'd. Stop asking for it. Seriously.

Is that f***ing Mike Mussina?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 21, 2014 -> 04:37 PM) I'll be interested for the first year or two, but after that I'll lose interest. Said every married couple ever.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2014 -> 03:51 PM) Seth Lakso @SethLakso 16m The #cltknights have Tyler Saladino taking fly balls in centerfield and right during batting practice today. #WhiteSox Good. I like the skill set and he's the kind of guy who could have a lot of value coming off a big league bench.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 21, 2014 -> 03:45 PM) lol, i will take the lack of response as "your jerseys are lame". Which is fine, since I didnt design them Oh in that case they're pretty tight -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 21, 2014 -> 02:41 PM) I wholeheartedly agree that Sabremetricians brought to light the importance of walks. After that though . . . That was the first thing that really came to light and was used by MLB teams. And you understand how important that is. Which, by itself, makes sabermetrics a non-gimmick. I think we've made a breakthrough today, boys. There are about a zillion other things that sabermetrics do that are awesome, but I'm stopping there!

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ May 21, 2014 -> 02:39 PM) Only more days until Adam Dunn is no longer a member of the White Sox. Not that I'm counting. ba da BAH

QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 21, 2014 -> 02:27 PM) Sabremetricians discovered the walk! You are correct on this statement, they did not. However, they were the first ones to properly value the walk. Remember when Steve Garvey won the MVP in 1974 with 31 walks but a .312 average, while his teammate Jimmy Wynn hit for a .271 average but walked 108 times? So, obviously if you are valuing walks properly, you do not believe sabermetrics to be a gimmick. If you are suggesting otherwise, please choose one of the two players I have provided. Here is the post again for your reference. Player A - .263 BA, 41 HR, 114 RBI, 96 R, 5 SB, 4 CS Player B - .276 BA, 28 HR, 66 RBI, 75 R, 5 SB, 0 CS There are only very minor differences in era here. Please tell me which of these back of the baseball card players you would prefer to have on your team. One of them was a notorious abuser of PEDs while the other was merely suspected.
