QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2014 -> 11:57 AM) http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...&pid=493159 Who the hell is this guy for the Cubs' Iowa affiliate? He has been on an unreal run so far this year. Smoke and mirrors? He was with Norfolk the last two seasons. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/12/...-tsuyoshi-wada/

QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 6, 2014 -> 12:00 PM) Hoffman had a setback. Not making his planned start this week. Stay tuned. Take him in the 2nd!

Ozzie face now there's a reason for this thread

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 6, 2014 -> 11:22 AM) Know how the NFL could get me to watch the draft? Hire John Travolta to (try to) read the names of the selections. What about Christopher Walken? "With. The first pick. Of. The NFL. Draft. The Houston Texans. Select. Ja. Daveon. Clowney. From the University. Of. South Carolina."

I see you mentioned Joakim Noah was 4th yet failed to mention that Kyle Korver was 2nd.

QUOTE (wrenn @ May 6, 2014 -> 10:58 AM) Thank you all. Here's hoping the smart guys are right! We'll end up yelling and booing at them when they strike out anyways

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 6, 2014 -> 10:36 AM) If you would of told me that Kanny had a better record than our other 3 teams, I would of called you crazy. Big start for Beck and Hanson today. I don't think I would have said it before the season, but I look forward to Kannapolis box scores and reports. That's an exciting team.

On scheduling killing the Cubs/Sox series
witesoxfan replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Tex @ May 6, 2014 -> 08:38 AM) OK, I'll say it. This series needs Ozzie. I think you mean AJ. No green. This series is probably the one reason I miss him the most. -
Welcome! To address your concerns, Reed was traded for Davidson because the Sox really liked Davidson's talent and power at 3B. Thus far, he's struggled, but it's impossible to draw conclusions about a trade 1 month in. They also felt that their bullpen situation was good and, after some early struggles and injuries (primarily to Nate Jones), their beliefs have been proven to be correct. We have discussed Davidson to some extent in the FutureSox forum as well, and you will find quite a bit more information regarding him in that area.

If Puig crashes into any more fences, I will have no other option but to consider him the next Milton Bradley.

QUOTE (TRU @ May 6, 2014 -> 10:36 AM) Jose Abreu isn't even in the game straight from retail. He wont be added until an official roster update, which I believe is happening on the 8th. So again, no Jose Abreu right out of the box. Konerko is the Sox 1B for the time being. YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOARD, YES! picking this badass mofo up at noon today, will be playing it TONIGHT

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 6, 2014 -> 08:41 AM) Did not do that. Just that Sale was older than Danish is now, pre-draft, when a large percentage of pundits had him pegged for a reliever. These guys hedge and are inherently risk-adverse. Fortunately for us, Laumann and the braintrust are not. DL has said that they may have even taken TD in the first round, had they feared someone else would take him in between. Even if you aren't comparing them, Sale had super loud tools. As a reliever, he averaged 95-96 with his fastball on top of having a good changeup and slider. I have no problem with you believing that Tyler Danish is a top 5 prospect (or higher) in the White Sox system, I just don't want you to expect it to be widely agreed with.

QUOTE (balfanman @ May 6, 2014 -> 08:29 AM) Thank you NSS & Wite. I still remember when the Indians got Visquel from Seattle and was wishing it was the Sox instead. I, for one, will be hoping that 20 some years later we got our own Visquel from Boston. Now, if we only had minor league instructors that could teach players how to hit like the Indians did back in the day. Jack Wilson, Pokey Reese, Brendan Ryan, Alcides Escobar - those are the names you want to think of.

sox need to trade alexei once out of contention
witesoxfan replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 6, 2014 -> 08:45 AM) The trouble is that his salary is pretty high and I think we'd get a salary dump return, so not much value in trading him, especially as we don't have a good alternative. Ideally, getting De Aza to have a hot 2 months and trading him would be the way to go. But the slow start + OF injuries make that problematic. Beckham too, but slow start will preclude that. So now we're basically down to someone like Belasario, presuming he continues to pitch well. Everything considered, Alexei Ramirez does not have a high salary. $10 million is the average rate for a SS now a days. Given how well Alexei's playing, the dude's practically a bargain at $10 mill a year. -
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 5, 2014 -> 05:10 PM) Same things were said about Sale. TWT. Are you going to compare Tyler Danish to Chris Sale?
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 6, 2014 -> 07:35 AM) Go read the gamethread posts, and tell me what happened. Im pretty sure the white sox lost 151 to negative 10, Robin Ventura was ejected, allowed back to coach, then ejected again for ineptness, and then the Cubs gained 15 wins due to sheer theo-ness. Pretty sure Abreu is being suspended too. He transformed into Godzilla in the middle of the game, destroyed the right field wall, and headed towards downtown Chicago on a rampage.
-
Not that we want to compare Rondon to a hall of famer already, but he definitely needs to start walking more. I wish we could compare him to Ozzie Guillen, but Ozzie was an exceptional hitter in the minors and then he won ROY as a 21 year old (which is also the last time the Sox had someone win Rookie of the Year).

QUOTE (Jake @ May 5, 2014 -> 04:57 PM) The problem with Sanchez is how low his upside is. 2 homers in 1800+ PAs so far in his career and not a whole lot of other XBH either. He's a guy who looks like he will have to bat .300 to be worth a damn at the plate *ahem* 3 homers, thank you very much I think that he will be more "powerful" than that, but I'm not expecting him to even hit double digit homers at any level.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 5, 2014 -> 04:23 PM) Think if Uehara were a starter, amp it down slightly, add some rapid-fire deception, and you've got Danish. Time will tell. And his deception and delivery plays up all his pitches. And he's a RHP that can't be run on. 62 pitches - he's obviously just trying to be efficient, that's crazy efficient, but still strikes guys out. When they cut him loose, he'll strike out plenty more. I've never doubted the guy, but merely giving reasons why he's going to be pushed "down" a prospect big board (because it's not as if being a top 5-10 prospect as a 19 year old in Low-A is down). BTW, Uehara did begin his MLB career as a starter, but durability became a major concern. Danish's profile is more that of a reliever and that's not going to end up in the top 5 of many minor league rankings.
-
As excited as we are about Danish, he's still doing this in Low-A and that's absolutely something that needs to be taken into consideration. Yes, he's age appropriate, but about the only way I would consider a guy that highly is if he has very, very loud tools, which is something Danish doesn't have. Plus, it's been 1 month. Guys have done that before and fallen completely off the map. Let's give him more time.
-
I'll just create him as a white skinned ginger who is 6'8 350 pounds with 100s for everything

Anyone have early reviews for The Show on PS4? I'm getting it after work and I have a 3 foot boner to show for it.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 5, 2014 -> 02:04 PM) That is what I thought he was talking about so I didn't understand why he was saying after Round 15.. Teams still don't want to have to pay a lot of money to guys after the 10th round. They are far more of a crapshoot than even the top 10 and are much, much likelier to become organizational players, signing for like a $10,000 signing bonus. Occasionally you will see teams splurge on a guy who falls due to signability concerns, but a lot of these players will be quite a bit less talented than those drafted in front of them, and as a result, they will be passed over for promotions often simply because they were drafted late. If they play well above expectations, then it's a different story entirely, but that's really what you need for them to be considered prospects.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 5, 2014 -> 12:41 PM) Yea he's silently badass. So if you'd clearly take mike trout over Gomez then I ask what has WAR really told you? That Mike Trout put up a WAR of 10 in 2012, 10.4 in 2013, and he's currently at 2.4 this year while Gomez was at 3.0 in 2012, 7.6 in 2013, and 1.3 in 2014.
