  1. I already grew accustomed to the Pelicans and I was convinced by the author (Petchesky I think?) from Deadspin who argued for the name. It's awesome.
  2. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 02:26 PM) Ya, I looked further into it and he hasn't played the OF in 4 years. No thanks. There's no way the Sox are dangling PK out there right? Probably not in the sense that they're looking to move him, but I could guess the 3 main guys who they won't trade right now are Sale, Peavy, and Keppinger, and two of those are because they have contracts hot off the press.
  3. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 02:26 PM) Can Flowers get the typical AJ OPS of say .750, when facing both righties and lefties for a year? Probably not, but also probably wont be astronomically lower than that. He also costs way, way less. Then factor in defense. Then factor in that Flowers is cheap labor and a not-developing asset. The choice is clear. AJ out, and you spend that money elsewhere. I honestly don't see why he couldn't.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) Tyler had 12 BB in 153 PAs. AJ had 28 in 520. And that 28 was a career high
  5. I bet Flowers also draws more walks in the first half than Pierzynski has ever drawn in a single season
  6. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) the sexy version of inception? GAAH
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 01:50 PM) Inception? Good lord no
  8. QUOTE (Lamar Johnson 23 @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) Not a bad investment because A) he's a fan favorite, and B) He's a LOT better than any catcher we have! Agree to disagree
  9. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 12:07 PM) Well thank you Rick Hahn for sharing this information with us. Oh wait....your not Rick. Yes I am

  11. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) From my understanding there is some reason to doubt this offer is true. But, if it is it most likely is just a starting point. If you gave Jake Peavy the kind of money he got for basically one good year with tghe Sox then I would not argue that AJ deserves a raise. I am thinking more like $6M - $8M a year It is the starting point. It is the ending point. They won't negotiate. If he wants to come back, he can; if not, thanks for the memories.
  12. The ex texted me last night and said she had a dream about me. LOL
  13. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 10:26 AM) Last year, Michael Bourn was a 6.4 WAR and De Aza was a 2.7. He's a much better player, but given the Sox payroll contraints, I don't know if that would be money well spent. 2011: -6.4 fielding, 13.1 baserunning, 4.1 WAR 2012: 22.4 fielding, 6.6 baserunning, 6.4 WAR The difference between the WARs is 2.3, which is mirrored perfectly by the difference between those fielding and baserunning runs (23.3), which are also two of the greatest and less predictable areas of a players game, which are also the two areas that typically break down quickly. He showed more power last year and an increased walk rate, which are good signs for the future, but any team giving Bourn more than 3 years is being incredibly irresponsible. Something I'm surprised hasn't been touched on his his profciency in missing the ball with his bat - 20.2% for his career. (and, as has been alluded to, great player, not a fit for the Sox)
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) I'm aware of that as my team had that this year. However Wisconsin isnt a spread power running program or team, they are pro-style and their fans are saying that he will have to change to fit Alvarez's methodology. That's dumb. If you bring in a leopard, you shouldn't expect it to change it's spots to stripes.
  15. One of the biggest factors in Bourn's large WAR last year was his fielding which, while I don't doubt was incredible, is also less predictable from year to year and loses a bit of its advantage in a smaller park like USCF. He's a great player, he's just not worth it for the Sox.
  16. QUOTE (Lamar Johnson 23 @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 09:45 AM) I never said DeAza will flame out. I said (implied) that there's more of a chance that he will than Bourn will. Bourn has put up consistent numbers over a longer period of time. Why is that so difficult to understand? Personally, I think they're equally likely to flame out.
  17. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 09:01 AM) I'm not saying we should do anything about it, I'm just saying it does maybe matter as to why. If, theoretically, someone could figure it out, they might consider putting him in RF again. This I like This I don't like. I think he struggled in RF because he wasn't used to playing the outfield. His defense was markedly better in the second half compared to the first. That said, I think you play him in one or the other to make the load easier to bear. Don't get him overthinking out there. Let him get comfortable in one position, and let him stay in one position.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 09:09 AM) Totally different scheme and tempo to his offense than Wisconsin has been using. Doesnt jive with Alvarez's philosophy IMO which is odd. Part of the Urban Meyer coaching tree from Utah. Schemes are constantly changing though and it's better to try something new to stay ahead of the curve than to stick with tradition and fall behind. Besides that, you can still have a power running game out of a spread offense.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 08:46 AM) They are also fewest in attempts. Redick standing stationary at the 3 point line isn't going to make him suddenly open. What about after #TheReturn
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 08:00 AM) Is he a member here that we are unaware of? Think he probably means via Twitter
  21. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/feeling-numbn...51013--mlb.html RA Dickey really is one of my favorite players in the MLB, and he's an incredibly interesting person.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 19, 2012 -> 04:12 AM) Oh man, the one skill I dumped everything into was 3 pointers. Once I became a sixth man I added to strength, dribbling, and layups. So my 6'4" SG dropped like 30-40-50-50-78 in the span of 5 games. Shooting 3s off of picks was deadly. I'm well into my second season and once you start getting a few achievements kicked off, the XP start rolling in. My guy is a 91 overall and I am a pretty good all around player, but I focus on fast break dunks (because they're awesome) and either fast break 3's or drawn up/pick and roll 3's. I can drive too (92 speed, 95 quickness with decent ball handling) but my dude's strength is shooting. Oh, and I recently put up 98 vs the Hawks too. My dude is putting up like 56/4.5/2/2.5/.7 on the year. Going to kick up the difficulty next year because this is silly. No, the Dragonborn/Solsteim DLC is nothing like Morrowind. It's Solstheim, which is incredibly nostalgic, but it's set some 200 years into the future and the island has changed quite a bit. In Morrowind/Bloodmoon, there is a quest to develop the community of Raven Rock for the Imperials. In Skyrim/Dragonborn, Raven Rock is a really large settlement Also, you hear about I jizzed in my pants.
  23. Got the Solstheim DLC for Skyrim. I played it for 20 minutes and had goosebumps the entire time. So, so, soooo many flashbacks to playing Morrowind. There was something about picking trama root and ash yams that sent me flying back through time.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 18, 2012 -> 05:26 PM) Swisher went to Ohio State, so it makes some sense. He also had messages from Matta and Meyer, so it's probably not as pathetic as when Jerry Krause greeted free agents at O'Hare with Benny the Bull, the Lovabulls and a hug. I suppose, I had forgotten that Swisher went to Ohio State. Still, it seems so juvenile. Maybe they can get the football team out and he can sell his World Series rings for more tattoos..?
