  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 10:05 AM) Tell us about the special guy... He's superbig, strong, and muscular, and said he would cuddle all night. It was an easy choice. --- I met her last week playing bingo with coworkers and her mom. Her mom actually set everything up, because I ork with her too (not on the same floor, but there will be interaction between us), so it could be a sticky situation if it ends up not working out. But I've been off the dating scene for 2 years now, so I'm really excited about it and I'm most interested in seeing her away from her parents but still out of her comfort zone.
  2. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 02:43 AM) Is it just me or is going on dates sometimes feel more like a hassle than something I want to do, maybe just not finding the right girls. Gotta get to know em somehow.
  3. 7 months and nobody wants to talk about a relationship? Anyways, wite has a date tomorrow night
  4. Trivia questions! No cheating allowed 1) Of players with atleast 40 plate appearances in the second half, who had the highest OPS on the White Sox? 2) Given the same criteria as in question 1, how many players had an OPS of .800 or better in the second half? If you can figure out the answers to these questions, you have found biggest area of need for the Chicago White Sox.
  5. Given, there is sample size bias here, but even with Joey Votto hitting 0 home runs since June and only having about 125 plate appearances, his .885 OPS in the second half was way better than everyone on the Sox.
  6. Deep down inside, they're still the f***ing Montreal Expos.
  7. QUOTE (forrestg @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) Jake is not a #1,2, but perhaps at the low end of a # 3 starter. I think Jake didn't prove enough to me toward the end of the season to give him any more than the 2 year 22m.. We have paid him premium money for no season that he was worth his keep. I would say 22million - the buyout. I like Jake but he did complete the season although not with great success. Being 100% honest, I don't think you realize how good Jake Peavy was this year
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Excellent. But why did you have to get involved then? He had it under control apparently. Because in this example, I am the chancellor. I deem Robin Ventura's season an A.
  9. The other thing we have to consider is that Jake Peavy does like pitching here, and he has made a lot of money already. He had to be talked into coming to pitch for the White Sox, he has switched to/hired an agent that is very friendly with the White Sox front office, and has stated repeatedly that he loves pitching for the White Sox. I think if they are serious about keeping him, he'll be serious about staying with the Sox. I think he ends up testing free agency but ultimately leaves a lot of money on the table and returns to the Sox.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 01:23 AM) No offense, but why can't he fight his own battle? Go to the chancellor if he has to. The kid doesn't need a parent stepping in. Just my opinion. I fought city hall a lot when I was in college, without help of my parents. He did. The chancellor already gave him an A, and the professor who gave him a B has been expelled to Miami.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 06:05 PM) This Homer Bailey guy has some talent. I wonder if the Reds would take Jermaine Dye for him. In his last 3 appearances (one of them a 4 IP, 70 pitch start) - 20 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 26 K In beisbolish: 0.45 ERA 0.35 WHIP 0.9 BB/9 11.7 K/9 13 K/BB Is good
  12. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) Best dozen in all of baseball? I'm sure someone could come up with 12 better than Peavy. The problem was there was more hype to Peavy than his performances. I don't think fans would push him out the door if he signs for $12-13M. He threw 219 innings and put up a 3.37 ERA this year. That is the best season for a White Sox pitcher throwing more than 200 innings since Mark Buehrle in 2005. Jake Peavy was really, really good this year. By fWAR and bWAR, he was the 6th best pitcher in the AL this year, and bWAR says he was the 9th best pitcher in the majors this year. Jake Peavy was really, really good. You are right, no one is going to push him out the door for $12-13, and if they lose him for that but retain Floyd at $9.5, I'm gonna choke someone, and I love Gavin Floyd.
  13. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 02:15 PM) Well, that's a relief. At first I thought it was Jeff Barry rather than Jeff Berry. Nice
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) I am not a bot. I just refuse to bury those responsible for the best month of my sports life. It was heaven. Man, you give a guy a B and people get upset. Sound like parents who can't handle little Johnny or Jane getting a B instead of an A when a B is a good grade. When they are a freshman in college getting a 95% in a senior level class and the instructor gives Johnny a B because he got a C on his final, you bet your ass I'm going to be defend little Johnny.
  15. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) The Top 3 teams are San Fran, Houston and Atlanta. I still don't know how real the Bears are because even though they have looked pretty dominant at times, that loss vs the Packers still has me iffy of how good the Bears are since Green Bay just isn't very good this year. The Lovie haters sure have been quiet though, lol. The Packers have struggled, but they've been banged up and have gotten hosed on some pretty blatant calls thus far. I don't think Rodgers is quite as good as he showed last year, but he is still a great player and having him on the team will give them a shot in any game. Beside that, Clay Matthews is still a terror and always will be. He can pretty much come at you from whereever and really creates sacks for others around him too. I still have the Packers as a top 10 team in the league.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) I'm glad some of you guys continue to argue with GregBot. It's amusing. You don't give my manager a B and get away with it.
  17. QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 10:39 AM) MinorLeagueBall.com came out with their preliminary 2013 top 50 hitting and pitching prospect list. White Sox don't have a single player on either list. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2012/10/8/3...s-list-for-2013 http://www.minorleagueball.com/2012/10/8/3...spects-for-2013 And it's stupid too. Because Byron Buxton is drafted 11 spots ahead of Courtney Hawkins, he's rated 19th rather than unranked, nevermind the fact that Hawkins had some success at A ball, even if the sample size is ridiculously small. The Sox system could be a lot, lot better, but I hate seeing freshly drafted prospects appearing in these lists.
  18. A is for Dan Johnson because I f***ing said so F is for everybody else because OBVIOUSLY FAILURE
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 06:09 PM) I gave Robin a frickin B. I can't imagine anybody giving him an A after that epic collapse. An embarrassing collapse. I have never seen a team work as hard as that team did, and they simply didn't have the talent to compete for 162 games with the Tigers. Had that been Ozzie managing, I truly, firmly, and honestly believe they would have been more than 15 games worse and finished in 4th place as the 2nd worst team in the AL. That team was prepared everyday and they were the best defensive team I have seen since 2005. That team had a lot less talent than that 2011 team, but they almost won a division crown. I don't know what Williams is going to do this offseason, but I imagine I am going to be predicting the White Sox as division winners next year, while I will predict Ozzie to finish in last place or be unemployed (or both). And I bet I will be right.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) "If there's nothing better out there, than why not stay". "I was not offered a job in a front office or a dugout, and this job is a cake walk because all I have to do is talk about Carl Yastrzemski twice a broadcast and announce a baseball game, than why not stay"
  21. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 10:13 AM) I thought about putting the Ravens 5th but their victory against KC wasn't that good. Even though they've been absolutely blown up by a few teams, that's still a very talented team outside of Matt Cassel (which was an incredibly unfortunate turn of events). It can be tough to move the ball against them at times. I don't know what to think of the Vikings. I think Percy Harvin is the most explosive player in the game, AP is still pretty solid, Ponder has been a solid game manager, and the defense has been good, but their only really impressive win came against San Francisco. Sorry, I'm just not that excited about victories over the Jaguars, Lions, and Titans, and a loss to the Colts, even as grindy as they are, is still a loss to what is likely an 8-10 loss team. I think they'll go 1-4 against the NFC North the rest of the way, which will keep them firmly out of the playoffs, and I don't think they can go 5-1 or even a 4-2 against the rest of their schedule. Anywhere between 7-9 and 9-7 seems about right for them.
  22. I don't know if any of the charges were considered life other than that they could be stacked for a total of about 450 years. Rather than giving out an irrational sentence of which he wouild only serve 10%, you may as well keep him locked up until the day he dies, which this sentence absolutely does.
  23. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 04:59 PM) I wonder how Flowers' defense will fare after he gets banged up catching everyday the way AJ does. Also wonder how much his offensive production would drop playing everyday. I'd keep AJ and let Flowers have more playing time backing him up. With the season AJ just had, he could easily make $8-10 million on the open market on a short deal if someone is willing to take on that character risk. I don't think the Sox really want to spend that much on a catcher at this point in time.
  24. Yeah, this is totally natural in the Bills coaching cycle. Mediocre but signs of life in the first full season, a step forward in the second season, and a huge, huge step back in the third season with the coach being fired. They'll probably hire Wannestedt next year and we'll see the same thing again. It's a pain following that team.
