  1. I really like Kaepernick, and if Harbaugh can continue to find creative ways to incorporate him into the offense, they're going to be even more dangerous. They'll be even better than that if they just flat out start Kaepernick.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 02:26 PM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale The #Twins undergo biggest coaching staff shakeup in decades with new hitting coach, third base coach and bullpen coach. Didn't really need to do that. It would be better if they got some talent in there instead.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) Alexa ‏@AVaicaitis Robin Ventura just did a walk-through of the front office to personally say thanks to everyone. #ClassAct #WhiteSox He can stay for as long as he likes.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 10:10 PM) Final Standings-- Det 88-74 Sox 85-77 KC 72-90 Cle 68-94 Min 66-96 Divisions suck. The opposite of 2006, where 3 teams won 90 games.
  5. Boston's second half Final 58 - 16-42 Final 48 - 12-34 Final 33 - 7-26 If nothing else, the 3 teams I despise the most - the Red Sox, Marlins, and Cubs - were all absolutely horrendous, and the Twins being the worst team in the AL is nice too.
  6. The thread title made me think he consulted with his dad.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 10:28 AM) Jake Peavy ‏@JakePeavy_44 Came up a little short but still was a fun ride and we will all be better bc of the experience! Huge thank u 2 all of u who stood behind me! You are welcome Jake.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 11:15 AM) ADA was a diamond in the rough DeWayne Wise has twice been that guy down the stretch too.
  9. Let's put it this way - the Marlins opened a new stadium this year. They are set to finish 12th out of 16 teams in attendance. They can't even support the Marlins when they open a new ballpark. The White Sox are going to finish 9th out of 14 teams in one of the oldest active stadiums in the league. In 1991, when New Comiskey opened, the White Sox finished 2nd in the league in attenance, drawing 2.9 million. They can and have supported a new stadium in the past. I'm not going to argue that White Sox fans are good about showing up to the park, because that's arguing against grass being green, but Marlins fans are some of the worst fans in all of sports.
  10. Except they're not. Marlins fans are #1 worst.
  11. QUOTE (Real @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 03:54 PM) Baseball is not an important sport in Florida. Population matters when considering if somewhere is a "Large Market", but the sport has to be relevant. Baseball as a sport is irrelevant in Florida And now you are making excuses. You said "Stop b****ing when people rip the Sox fan base because it's THE worst large market fan base in baseball." Baseball should not be "irrelevant" anywhere in the US for an MLB team, yet people in Miami are simply terrible fans regarding every team except the Dolphins, and Chicago fans are far more passionate about the Bears. Miami fans are terrible compared to Chicago fans, regardless of "relevance."
  12. QUOTE (Real @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) Because the Marlins are a large market team, right? Miami-Ft Lauderdale is the 8th largest metropolitan area in the country. If you are going to classify someone like Boston (10th largest) as a large market team, than you damn well better classify Miami.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 08:38 AM) Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN Max Scherzer hurt his ankle during the Tigers' celebration, and won't pitch today. Since they wish for injury on Sale, here's hoping that ankle develops gangrene.
  14. QUOTE (Real @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 05:35 AM) The in-town fans don't either. Oh wait, the economy is terrible in Chicago but nowhere else. Fact: Sox fans in Chicago couldn't care less about this team. The Sox could have made one game "Dollar night, all tickets $1.00" and the place would not have sold out. Stop b****ing when people rip the Sox fan base because it's THE worst large market fan base in baseball. You obviously don't watch many Marlins games
  15. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 01:31 AM) I though it's Floyd pitching. In fact, it better be Floyd pitching They'd be better throwing me than either Floyd or Sale tomorrow. There's no reason to throw a guy who will either be traded or let go, and there's definitely no reason to throw a guy who you've been conservative with regards to innings all year.
  16. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) About time to start shopping for a new vehicle. Anyone have an Altima or Camry? I'm also looking at new vehicles, but trying to keep it under or around $13,000. I love the late Pontiacs and have been looking really hard at G8's and G6's. Almost had a 2010 G6 Sedan with 36K miles for $11,000, but shortly after I drove around in it, someone came through with a cashier's check for the amount. I was aware of the possibility, but figured I'd have more than an hour to get my finances in order.
  17. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) 2011: .230/.296/.337, .284 wOBA, 70 wRC+, 4.9 UZR (1.0 WAR) 2012: .234/.296/.371, .292 wOBA, 77 wRC+, -0.1 UZR (0.8 WAR) His offense was just marginally better, and all of it due to his slugging (6 extra homers). Either way, it was drastically below average both years. I think the UZR is flukey though, as it is prone to be over a single season. His walk rate increased, his strikeout rate decreased, he hit for better power, he had fewer infield flyballs, and he showed the ability to bunt for hits a little too. He needs to work on his swing more but there is reason to believe he can be a .750 OPS guy still.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 12:38 PM) He ran over my dog. My dog's name was "2011" Killed it flat out. Then he blamed it on you and left town
  19. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 01:07 PM) That's excessive. He earned his way out of a job here, rightfully, but some of the anger being directed at him borders on absurdity. I must have missed the part where he ran over everyone's dogs. He didn't run over my dog, he merely bunted him to death.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 08:46 AM) An amazing story about a top prospect who walked away from it all to become a monk http://sports.yahoo.com/news/from-prospect...-his-peace.html I remember when he retired. It was just such a WTF moment. The guy went out on top atleast. If there is Divine Intervention, that was it. He absolutely murdered that ball in Stockton upon his promotion, saw his peripherals improve, and then hit 11 homers in the AFL too, which put him at 42 for the minor league season. Brent Morel led the league in average (though only 62 ABs) that year, and Jordan Danks played really well too. EDIT: Can probably include the link. It's a who's who of former big names who have flamed out big time. I literally remember hearing a ton about most of those guys, and only like 10 have become solid major league hitters http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?y=...119&t=l_bat
  21. Maybe I'm the only one who sees it, but this team has left everything on the field this year. They're gassed at this point. If they can win 6 or 7 in a row or whatever it is at this point and they can steal the division away from Detroit, that's fine, but I absolutely have no problem with this year.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) Didn't realize the gestation period for airplanes was that brief.
  23. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:19 AM) Seriously, on what planet is Scottsdale AZ a better city than Los Angeles? I dont even like LA (at all) but Scottsdale is a damn suburb. On planet earth. How many 16,000 square foot homes does Paul Konerko have in Los Angeles? Scottsdale 1, Los Angeles 0
  24. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) So a general question.. do you prefer a guy who's got a line of .210 41hr and 94 rbi or .270 25hr and 70 rbi is it more valuable to have a guy who hits 15 more hr's and drives in 24 more runs or a guy who gets an extra 30-40 hits per year? This is a very vague question. How much do they walk? How much do they strike out? Are those other hits going for more extra base hits or are they going to be singles? Do they steal bases? Can they play defense? Do they play any position other than a corner? Of what type of hitters is the lineup composed? How old are the players? Because essentially, that comparison right now is comparing Dunn to Viciedo. Who do you prefer? You can also be comparing Dunn to Pierzynski, Swisher, Chris Davis, Ryan Ludwick, Willin Rosario, Jason Heyward, Paul Goldschmidt, Ryan Zimmerman, Hanley Ramirez...all those guys generally fit that range. There is more different about all those players than there are similarities. (and before you start screaming bloody murder, Viciedo is short of .270 by 8 hits, so the comparison does work)
  25. QUOTE (Spod=Ratings @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) People saying Packers handled it bad are completely clueless. No they're not. Had the Packers showed up in the first half, no one would be b****ing about this at all. The call on the field was wrong. Nothing else the NFL has done after that, per their rules, has been.
