Uh, no, I'd say Alex Rios' walkoff was by far the most clutch. The team was down by 1 run with 2 outs, and Alex Rios ended the game with one swing. I don't think there is any arguing that. Teahen had the most clutch game of the season, but not the most clutch hit.

4/29 GT - Sox @ Rangers 1:05p CDT - CSN & MLBN

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 03:20 PM) Rios might have 40 SB by the time season is over. Would any of you be willing to give Jordan Danks shot at leadoff? not at all -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) Because what we really need is to bench Konerko and/or Jones. Last I saw, Andruw Jones could play the outfield. Even if you don't want to play him everyday in the outfield, he can still play it occasionally, even up to 3-4 times a week. You can DH him on one or two of the days he doesn't play in the outfield. And if he were to ever get hurt, Delgado would actually be a decent backup plan as an everyday DH.

I'd give a chance to f***ing Carlos Delgado at this point.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 10:35 AM) I meant no offense by it. It just gets old when people refer to the one season in basically a century where things went right in order to ignore a real problem occurring in the present. I think it was just a general comparison with regards to a pitcher on the Sox pitching terribly and then rebounding very nicely. Gavin Floyd did the same thing after April last year. Contreras was funny that year. First 12 starts - 3-2, 72 IP, 3.13 ERA, 1.14 WHIP Next 12 - 4-5, 72.1 IP, 5.35 ERA, 1.51 WHIP Final 12 (including postseason) - 11-1, 92.1 IP, 2.44 ERA, 0.96 WHIP

If you're KW, who's on your BIG BOARD to replace Ozzie?

QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) I think we should go after the old Indians manager. I cant remember his name... I would rather drywall. -

I think Deion Sanders should manage the White Sox. -
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) I don't know I just don't wanna see the bad Rios back again and have everyone here talking about how he has a bad contract and KW is an idiot for picking him up or how his contract is going to keep us from signing somebody else or blah blah blah. It's just nice to see Rios hitting for us. He's going to continue hitting because he's a good hitter.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 01:38 AM) What's the Bears schedule like this season? IIRC, you guys play the NFC East this season, so it may be a little hearder than last season, correct? AFC East too. So atleast they get one guaranteed win out of the whole package.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 12:48 AM) Ima just say this, since we are playing them now, but noticed for a bit here. I'm beginning to like Elvis Andrus. (not quite love level yet though) .400 OBP and already has 16 walks in 69 ABs (had 40 all of last season) Didn't think he would this good, this early on in his career. (though maybe in a year or two) Already one of the best defensive SS in the game. I will say this though, he will come back down to earth with his inflated BABIP, but the improved discipline is really encouraging. I actually think all of his peripherals are a bit of an anomaly right now. I think his K rate will decrease, his walk rate will decrease, and his average will rise. Thus, as his BABIP decreases, his average will actually increase a bit. I understand that sometimes guys will have their K rates increase, but 16% to 26% just doesn't happen, and he'll start making more contact as the season goes on.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) I'm glad he took advantage of Spring Training to find his mechanics. Peavy had 13 strikeouts and 2 walks in 11 innings during the Spring. I imagine he thought they were fine, and he was wrong. I will also agree with Ace here in that it really is encouraging how well he pitched from the 2nd through the 6th, whether you want to agree with it or not. The control needs work, but I'm still not worried about him.

QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) I just feel like Ozzie will be the first to go. Generally teams with a lot of expectations can only lose this badly for so long before something gets shook up. Ozzie won't be the first to go. If the lineup keeps not hitting, Walker will go.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) At this point, yeah, you take your pick out of Q and Pierre who you bench. The Red Sox have Lowell and Beltre at 3rd, Youkilis at 1b, Martinez and Ortiz, and a lot of them can rotate through the DH slot. But with Ortiz's struggles, its pretty obvious why they're involved in every talk involving a 1b bat. Because Ortiz is washed up, Lowell's contract runs out at the end of this season, and they could certainly use another bat in the middle of their lineup after this season. They also have the money to allow both Lowell and Ortiz to remain on the bench, while the Sox do not have that luxury.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) True, but Fielder has one year of arb left after the current contract, so you'd get him for relatively cheap for a 2nd year. Berkman, I believe, has an expensive option for that next year. Fielder is going to cost anywhere between $13-16 mill next year. Relatively speaking, yes, that is about 50-70% of the value he will get when he signs as a free agent, but that's still a very large number.

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AjCu...ti-posada042710 Sit down with Jorge Posada talking about all the pitchers he's caught. I can't stand either team, but I always love these kinds of retrospective pieces. It's just a fun and exciting little read.

Take home final in my interdisciplinary university required class. A final paper on my econometrics project due on Friday (can be anywhere from 5-10 pages, and it should be very easy to pump out), one assignment, and then 3 finals on Monday and 1 on Tuesday, and I'm done...for a week.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 07:40 AM) University of South Dakota Kinda figured so, we have a ton of people from Iowa here. I'm sure she was happy to get the hell out of Vermillion though, as this place can lull people to sleep if they aren't careful.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 09:58 AM) So... is Rick Porcello showing us why you don't throw a 20 year old into the fire for a ton of innings against Major Leaguers? He can't get anyone out. He had an ERA north of 6 in April last year too. I don't think the Tigers are really all that good, but Porcello is fine.

perfect article to generate debate about Ozzie Ball
witesoxfan replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 11:25 PM) The funny thing is our 1.112 OPS DH swings about as hard as he can at basically every pitch he sees. If you're making good contact, there's no problem with it. But when they throw a breaking ball away and the hitters continually roll over it, it becomes a problem. It's also much easier when the swing is quick through the zone and relatively short, which is part of what is plaguing Carlos Quentin. I'm sure he's working on it, but it wouldn't hurt Quentin to sit down and watch some video of 2008 to see what he was doing right. Then it wouldn't hurt to watch some video of Jose Canseco, because Quentin reminds me quite a bit of Canseco with his swing. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) I met my now wife on MatchMaker.com back in 2002 (I think it is now a completely differant site). This was before meeting people online was largely socially acceptable. She was at school in South Dakota (she grew up in Iowa) and I was going to Columbia College in Chicago. She is the one who contacted me... said I looked like a teady bear. We married in 2005. Celebrating 5 years in August. Which school?

perfect article to generate debate about Ozzie Ball
witesoxfan replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) Other then addressing that Ozzie doesn’t really like homers, has actively told players to stop trying to hit homeruns (Rios, Nix, and to show that one of the main tenets of Ozzieball is to shy away from hitting for power, which is what this thread is discussing … Yeah, you’re right. Nothing to do with it at all. Trying to actively get players to not hit home runs would be detrimental and stupid. Trying to get players to stop swinging for the fences every time they swing the bat would be very helpful for an offense that is hitting .222 as a group. -
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 06:48 PM) Don't worry. I also do not believe the bullpen is as strong as people make it out to be. I think Pena, Putz, Williams are all big question marks. 2 of those 3 will get a lot of the innings. Jenks is also entering that territory. Williams is terrible, Pena is a solid middle relief arm, and Putz is going to be a boom or bust pitcher. It's not the best bullpen in the league, but it's not a bad bullpen.

Came back drunk one night at about 2 or 3 in the morning, wasn't ready to go to bed, my roommate was sleeping, and she was the only person awake on the floor with her door open. We ended up sitting around and talking for a couple hours before heading to bed, and we made it a weekly ritual. Truth be told, I had nonchalantly talked to her a bit before then, but that was the initial conversation that sparked our relationship.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) Jags just released Henderson, any chance the Bears take a look? Still think he has a couple of good seasons left and paired with Tommie/Peppers should make a pretty dangerous D-Line. Also hoping they still bring in a veteran safety whether it be Atogwe or Hamlin. On the offensive side of the ball, Faneca was just released and he was part of the best O-Line in the NFL last season. Faneca may have been apart of one of the best OLines in the league last year, but he had nothing to do with it, as he was mediocre. He was released because he can be easily replaced.
