  1. QUOTE(Shadows @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 01:43 AM) Can anyone top this drunk picture? This is me, passed out in the backyard of some persons house, and as you can clearly see I for some reason am smashing my arm as I sleep.. as noted with the purple color and this is why I love you. This is easily one of my favorite pictures of all time.
  2. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 01:29 AM) Alright finally.... One of these sexy mofo's is me. This was last year. And were doing what we do best... drink. EDITED: And shut up Slav and Pratt. Yeah I'd outdrink the f*** out of you
  3. QUOTE(forrestg @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:28 PM) I'm sorry I started this thread.. Brian looked horrible at the plate! I think Uribe is Brian's hero. He's copied his wild swing. Only Brian's swing is a lot longer. It was a good time to play him with the sox leading by10... Yeah completely disagree. His swing is always going to be long, but he looked to be getting to the ball much better. He looked a bit uncomfortable at the plate too, but I would imagine not seeing live action in a week would probably do that to you.
  4. QUOTE(lostfan @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 11:31 PM) They'd get use out of Richar and definitely Broadway, but they really have no need for Anderson (or Owens) having a young OF of Luke Scott, Adam Jones, and Nick Markakis (I live in MD and I see them a lot). I don't know enough about Luis Hernandez to comment about what they want to do about their SS situation though except for the fact that he's a defensive specialist and sucks at hitting. Which is basically Uribe without the power. Scott's not exactly young at 30 years old, but I'd forgotten about Not-Pacman Jones. For whatever reason, he just blanked on me. Their outfield is pretty much set I suppose though, so unless they wanted to move some people around a bit, they wouldn't have a ton of use for BA. Getting a glove like that in CF is always nice, but they could probably do a bit better.
  5. I actually feel really, really good about this team right now, a lot of which has to do with Gavin and Danks throwing well, but also just because they've played well. They could easily be 5-1 right now, and they are playing fantastic. If they could get out to a great start in April and do their best to bury a couple teams, I'd feel excellent about their chances.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:52 PM) Sadly there's no bullets left in that chamber. I agree that Swisher would be best utilized hitting down the order but there's nothing wrong with having a Grady Sizemore type leadoff hitter (minus the SBs of course) when you have a guy like Thome hitting 3rd and no other real leadoff options. Swisher and Sizemore probably have pretty similar power potential so you're not taking full advantage of that aspect of their game but at least you're giving one of your best hitters the most PAs of anyone in the lineup as opposed to a much less valuable offensive talent who happens to run fast. So I was thinking about it, and I wonder, if BA shows anything, if something along the lines of BA, Richar, Uribe, and Broadway would be close for Roberts. It's something I really don't want, atleast at this point, but it gives the Orioles two potential starting cogs in their lineup for a few years, a stopgap SS, and a potential starting pitcher too. That seems like so much, but at the same time, it doesn't either. I don't know, just kinda throwing it out there.
  7. I missed his last AB, but Anderson looked good in his first AB too. Swing looked a bit slow, but it was more direct getting to the ball. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the lineup tomorrow too as a pinch hitter, if you catch my drift.
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:38 AM) he caught it, Thats all I am concerned about right now. Such a petty thing to gripe about, whether he put his head down or not, sometimes outfielders lose the ball when they put their head down and run to the spot they think the ball is going to.
  9. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:04 AM) ...so am I the only one that throughly enjoys the irritability of the board at large? Hell, that's why I read. Enjoy is kind of a darker term to use there, but I'd say that I always find the irritability entertaining. At any given moment, you could have any given thread blow up and there's a full on battle royale going on. It's one of the reasons I come back...it's kinda like a soap opera. (see, I don't enjoy soap operas, but they're entertaining, so there, I win)
  10. QUOTE(lostfan @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) I wanted him to play coming out of ST this season too, but the difference between this season is that if Anderson gets stuck on the bench, the players playing ahead of him don't suck and aren't useless. That is the one thing that's different this year as opposed to last year. We are looking at Swisher and Quentin ahead of him in CF and LF as opposed to Podsednik and Erstad. Those two are studs; BA not getting his shot has absolutely nothing to do with his ability and more to do with how good those two are. He will eventually get his shot so long as Owens stays hurt, and from that point, it's probably his 4th OF spot to lose.
  11. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:40 AM) I agree it is way too early; but the same logic applies the other way too....maybe the original poster should have waited before a single game was played before he started making silly posts????? At least I have 5 games....he had 0.... He was bringing up a point he felt valid about. You were dishing out crow and felt justified because of it due to the 5 games that have been played. There are differences.
  12. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) probably in place of Contreras... I'd go with Masset, but it'd be pointless to argue about something like that. I've really grown to like Broadway and think he could be a pretty damn good 3-4 starter in the near future.
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 11:23 PM) This place sucks when the Sox are losing, but goes crazy when they do well. Case in point, Rally Crede. One of the most retarded things - ever - and it will forever go down in ST lore. Needless to say, we've got about as emotional control around here as an 8th grade girl who's unsure about her relationship. My dislike for Crede currently has no boundaries but he was definitely the man at that time. What a ridiculous game.
  14. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 05:52 AM) MB makes history.... I hope.. Hopefully we'll see Quentin again. 12 inning perfect game
  15. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 02:07 AM) well, he went to stanford. he's probably a relatively intelligent individual and realizes the performance that he needs to exhibit to keep a job on the big league club, he's going to give it his all game in and game out, and we need pretty much every single guy on the team to do that all year long if we plan on making the playoffs contreras, javy, and mark haven't gotten the memo yet unfortunately Even Johan Santana has bad starts now and then too.
  16. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 02:00 AM) My bad I thought you were the "Soup Boy", guess it was someone else He is the soup boy though.
  17. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 01:47 AM) Heads you look pretty much as I expected, except whiter and nerdier. And SF1 you look nothing like the face we once saw in the 'Soup Boy' sig rofl
  18. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 01:08 AM) I'm not willing to hand Danks the crown of bonafide #3 starter just yet. Let's see how his new pitches go over the second time around the league. I have this feeling that the more opponents see of him, the more adjustments that they will make. Well yeah that's the name of the game. Danks makes adjustments too. I just have a really good feeling about Danks stuff right now. Good fastball, curve, and change, and with that cutter too, he should be a damn fine pitcher.
  19. You know, I'm not really an intangibles guy, but it really seems that AJ can carry a team with his attitude. Obviously the additions of Cabrera and Swisher are a big factor in this, but when AJ's well, the team seems to perform well.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 01:14 AM) Did I miss something? Or did the Sox ink Davanon? signed him to a minor league contract. He's in the outfield at Charlotte. More of a last reserve option than he is a potential player for the Sox.
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 12:58 AM) I honestly believe that Brian Roberts and a #3 starter could win the Sox the AL Central. I think the Sox already have their #3 starter in John Danks.
  22. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 09:53 PM) Bump....where are you Steve? It's 5 f***ing games. Let the season play out a bit before even thinking about dishing crow.
  23. Yeah I have no concerns about Bobby at all, atleast not in terms of getting outs. That elbow is always a concern, but I can live with that. He may be a top 5 closer in the league right now, because he just absolutely mows people down.
