  1. QUOTE(BaseballNick @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 12:00 PM) Good for Pods. He still sucks
  2. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 03:02 AM) Brian Anderson: Aaron Rowand II or Mark Kotsay II? Torii Hunter lite is a better comparison
  3. I finally looked at it...surprised nobody has mentioned Kelly Johnson and Asdrubal Cabrera.
  4. QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 01:41 AM) Happy b-day, Kalapse. Speaking of Kalapse, has anyone heard from him lately? Haven't seen his posts on here in a while. Pimpin' ain't easy son

    i am drunk

    QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 01:37 AM) So the good news is that I'm ridiculously drunk and won about 11 games of beer pong in a row. The bad news is that it's only 1:37 and everyone went to bed, wtf? Everyone went to bed, right, LOL
  6. QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 01:35 AM) He shouldn't even be on the list, period. I mean, what about guys like Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jon Lester, Jonathon Papelbon, and Clay Buchholz to name a few. He was obviously aiming for a list filled with fresh faces and guys on the younger side by putting Johnny Peralta on there. AND what the hell, no Felix freaking Hernandez? IMO, he may seriously be the future of the MLB. Kind of funny that the first 7 you mentioned are all Sawks and Yanks They get enough hype as it is, any time they don't, I generally celebrate.
  7. I had Vanderbilt going for some reason, and Georgetown too Don't feel bad
  8. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 11:31 AM) Duke's overratedness gets displayed for the third time in three years. Yeah, I'd say it's been a good tourney. Except for rooting on Wisky and Mich St, I'll be rooting for Davidson and West Virgina. I like the way they play. Intentional?
  9. QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 11:48 PM) Ok sending Fields down does not bother me at all. We have Crede, he is gone at the end of the year no matter what, same with Uribe and Hall. So having Fields and Phillips in AAA is not that big of deal. They both do not earn Major League Service Time, thus putting off their arbitration years, iirc. Also unless we get a damn good deal fro Crede, he is not being moved until May 1st. Hall probably didn't accept his assignment to the minors (thus the two closed door meetings today). He already cleared waivers then also going in that line of thinking. I wouldn't be surprised to see Crede put on the waiver wire sometime soon, if he hasn't already been on there. This would free both up to either get claimed, probably would let Hall go and up Crede back off waivers, or, if cleared, able to trade them after the deadline, if i understand the rules correctly. We already blew our load with Uribe on this though. You'd be correct on the waiver, but there's no real need to have Crede clear them now when the Sox have 4 months to deal him still. The Sox put Uribe on waivers to see if teams actually did want him, and to see if they could deal him to said team that claims him. Crede wouldn't clear, and the Sox don't want to give him up for nothing; they've already turned down giving him up for garbage on multiple occasions, so putting him on waivers doesn't make a lot of sense in that regard. Phillips is also almost 31, so worrying about service time with him is something the White Sox aren't going to do. The Sox haven't dealt Crede yet because they haven't gotten what they feel is a good enough offer. KW is probably valuing him like a top 10 3Bman with 2-3 years left on his contract who just so happens to be coming off a back injury, when really Crede might not be a top 15 3Bman in the league when healthy, and is probably among the bottom 10 starting 3Bman in the league to start the year, has 1 year left on his deal, and is going to get a ridiculous deal considering who his agent is. The value of KW and whoever has called is probably so far off it's unreal. Having 2 backup outfielders is almost a necessity, and I'm not about to count Ozuna as an outfielder.
  10. QUOTE(iamshack @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 11:01 PM) Can I be invited too? Sure NO GURLS ALLOWED THO
  11. This is the start of Brian Anderson, the future Hall of Famer. My one goal with this current Chicago White Sox team is to party with Brian Anderson at some point. I think it would be fun.
  12. QUOTE(Wanne @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) Man Ram better learn to quit standing there like an A-hole after he hits the ball or he's gonna catch one in the earhole. He's been doing it for like 10 years now, you may as well get used to it. All the pitchers around the league generally are, and they should be seeing as how he's lit them up for 490 homers.
  13. QUOTE(Hawkfan @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 06:18 PM) I hope to God that Brian Anderson does not get the oppurtunity to corrupt this team with his outstanding ability to be a panzee and a punchin judy hitter, If you are out there reading this brian anderson it is too late and you already know. You are a terrible baseball player and i hope that you can play the bench for the World Series champions Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2010. If Brian pissed in your cereal in 2006, you should try it again today and see if it still tastes like piss, because I don't think that flavor is there anymore. And the Devil Rays ceased to exist in 2007. They are just the Rays now.
  14. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 06:21 PM) think of the defense...crede, cabrera, uribe, konerko...that's gold glove caliber at every infield position. Konerko has never been a gold glove caliber 1Bman, and I really doubt Crede is much better than average.
  15. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) Owens will be a breakout player...with an OBP of .350. That's not much of a breakout. I'd hope if he's going to break out, he'd hit .310 and put up an OBP in the .370-.380 range.
  16. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) I woud not advocate a trade necessarily. If we are fortunate enough to get Crede signed I would like to see Fields at LF or 1B for the future. If the Sox are "fortunate" enough to get Crede signed, I'll probably start s***ting bricks of gold. And neither would be fortunate.
  17. Trading Fields at this time would be the dumbest move KW has ever made.
  18. Oakland is going to be awful this year.
  19. QUOTE(JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 23, 2008 -> 10:21 AM) Yea but at least those other pitchers probably have other good pitches to compliment. He basically just said all he has is his fastball, and if I read that, im sitting fastball every single time. If his other pitches aren't good as well, you won't have much trouble. Randy Johnson has 2 pitches. Given, both are like HoF caliber pitches, but he has two pitches all the same. If Poreda can make a decent slider out of his slot, hes got a chance to be a starting pitcher. QUOTE(greg775 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 12:44 PM) He's 6-foot-6? That screams lotta walks to me. Randy Johnson walked a lot of guys too.
  20. I'm not reading this entire thread, but it's been sitting here for a while. A few thoughts... 1) If Crede is traded, I imagine it will be for someone who is serviceable. Not good, probably not mediocre, but someone who will do something for the Sox. Cheat mentioned Eugenio Velez on his blog a couple weeks ago, and I could see that as a distinct possibility. 2) Fields spending time in AAA wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for his development; the kid can't hit a meat fastball yet, so spending some time in AAA working on hitting those wouldn't hurt. In fact, it might be a good thing, and he might develop a bit of plate recognition, hit .270, and walk 70-80 times a year. If he does that, he's an All Star. 3) Fields will likely be called up for 15-20 games or so before June, so it's not like he'd spend all year in AAA. He'll almost assuredly get 200-300 PAs this year, because really, if Crede or Thome goes down, Fields will be the first called up and both of those scenarios are very, very likely. It's also likely Crede will be traded before July, so that would increase his PAs. 4) The old saying goes that you can't win the division in April, but you can lose it. I see Crede as a potential piece that could lose the division for the Sox, especially if he comes out of the gate and hits .210 again. I don't see why that's not a possibility. 3B should really be dictated by how the Sox feel Crede is; if they think he can hit even .260 with modest power and 95% of his defensive range, the job should be his. If he can't do all of that, they should trade him for what they can get and have Fields be the 3Bman. As much as it sucks for me to say this, as I want Josh starting, it is entirely up to Crede as to whether or not he's the starting 3Bman come opening day, and Josh Fields can no longer do anything to force the issue.

    QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) my mouth tastes like vomit ugh. That's why you don't eat out of the toilet bowl
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 10:46 PM) POWER!!! WE NEED POWER!!!!! Yeah it has nothing to do with Anderson's GG-caliber defense in CF or his better all-around game than Owens. There's also a reason Alex Rodriguez is the highest paid player in the game and not Juan Pierre.

    Idea

    QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 11:36 PM) I like the idea or t-shirts, wristbands, bumper stickers/car magnets, and even hats. I think advertising would be good because even if we have "1.5 million posts", we have many, many guys that have 25,000+ posts and that accounts for a lot of posting. Advertising would be good to get many more than the 6,000+ members we have. I also like the idea of being able to meet each other at games. except that 6000+ members would also increase the bandwidth total, and anytime something big happened the site would explode There's a good contingency and more and more people are discovering the site every day. Advertising really isn't necessary. Let the site advertise itself, and if you strike up a conversation with a particularly informed Sox fan, refer them to the site. I've done it on a couple occasions, and even if they didn't join, I really don't care. Anything else costs money that the site likely won't see back in profit, and it's just more of a strain on others to maintain that kind of stuff. I imagine if someone really wanted to put "soxtalk.com" on a shirt, either Jason would say can I have $5 just cuz, or he wouldn't care because it is in fact free advertising and it makes whoever puts the logo on their shirt happy because they have a shirt with "soxtalk.com" on the front. One of the great things about this site is that it's a bit of a neighborhood; we like some neighbors, we don't like others, and there's not much we can do about it (unless they say, in this hypothetical neighborhood, happen to like beat the s*** out of you or break into your house or whatever other parallels you can think of between an online neighborhood and a real neighborhood). The other great thing is that houses are going up, and people are moving in all the time. It's a pretty damn good sized neighborhood, it's growing, and it's great right now. I really don't think advertising is necessary. /rant
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 08:38 PM) Asking for or expecting Owens to hit in that area is pretty crazy unless he's become a much better bunter than we've seen so far. Merely suggesting that because that's how he has an .800 OPS in Arizona right now, not because he's suddenly turned into Carl Crawford overnight.
