QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 09:48 PM) I just don't see that. Swisher is not an everyday CF. My guess is Swisher-Owens-Dye, with Quentin getting a couple of games a week. I hope that is not the case...Quentin seems to be too much of a stud to be getting only a couple games a week. I'd argue he already is a complete liability at the plate due to his inability to hit for any power whatsoever, and if you want defense in CF, you are putting Brian Anderson out there, not Jerry Owens. Anderson wouldn't be any more of a liability than Owens at the plate, he'd provide fantastic defense, and maybe even a bit of power. (that's obviously not going to happen, it's merely to state that Jerry Owens should not be in the lineup because of defensive purposes) It's also very hard to win when you have a guy putting up a .675 OPS in the lineup. We found that out last year with Erstad.

I hate Wranglers so much. They have never fit me comfortably, and I always feel stiff and awkward walking around in them. I buy mine from Aeropostale. It's like $20 for a pair of jeans, they last for about a a year or two, and they are comfortable as hell. Whether they are trendy or not, I have no clue nor care, but they seem good enough for me and I love them.

QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 9, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) Got poked in the eye pretty bad playing ball this morning. Now feels like something is stuck in there and it's like I have gunk in there. Very annoying. Same thing happened to me last Saturday. Except I wasn't playing ball, I was partying, and it was some girl who was like beating the s*** out of me (in some kind of playful, painful manner, I guess). I thought I had pink eye, but it cleared up pretty well the next day and it was all cleared up by Wednesday.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) As long as you don't go checkin for new digs on my dime, we would be cool. Oh, and you would have to actually DO the job, which this guy apparently is not. Want to sell printing? All Sox fans working in my store, once I let this guy go. My fault for hiring someone who bleeds Cubbie blue. Seriously, what the hell were you thinking?

I cannot justify my hatred for him. It is what it is. I just can't stand the guy. His ego just drips all over the floor whenever he speaks.

Bye Curt, please do let the door hit you in the ass very hard on the way out...maybe your sock will bleed some more then (or maybe you can just paint it when you go home and say it was the door that caused it)

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) Best defensive 3B in baseball + .300 AVG + 25 HR + 100 RBI = Joe Crede = Best in baseball don't forget to mention the silver slugger
-
QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) I've been saying this for a long time, based soley on Crede's merit as one of the best 3B in baseball IMO I'd really like to see the logic behind this statement.

QUOTE(mjuevos @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 12:05 PM) i think our offense is good and should be able to hang with the likes of det and/or cle. however, without another bonafied starter, ie BEDARD, i don't think we can compete in the central. if somehow KW can pull off a heist and get another top starter, then i would be much more optimisitc about this season. the Sox don't have the pieces necessary to get another stud; besides that, Bedard is already on his way to Seattle.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 02:10 AM) Aussie Slang 101 - Buggered = Exhausted / Tired. And I took a break after 2 (terrible I know). I didn't stop and get out of the pool. I know, it's just funny when you use Aussie slang. You should start calling me out when I use American slang, so that way its not just a one-sided relationship where I make fun of you all the time.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 01:14 AM) Which makes this year's draft extremely important for the direction this organization goes in a few seasons. Absolutely...probably the most important one of the decade.

QUOTE(bighurt4life @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 12:00 AM) Obviously KW did a good job in getting players that will help us this coming season. He upgraded our bullpen, our infield and our outfield. Thats a pretty good offseason, what the article doesn't mention however is that KW stripped our minors to the bone to make these deals happen. How good will we be in 3 years when team is getting older and we have no legitimate in-house options for replacement? Well then the players that are drafted within the next 3 years come into play; it's not like KW went out and added ten 35 year olds to the roster. He's put together a very good core of players that will hopefully be around for a while and will produce quite well.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 05:37 PM) I went for my 1st swim in probably 8 years this morning. I did 5 50m laps, and I was absolutely buggered. Stopped after doing 2. Bit of a wake-up call really. Although forgetting to stretch beforehand, and then having my arms feel extremely heavy during my stroke probably has something to do with it. I also do not understand how you did 5 50m laps, but stopped after doing 2.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 11:07 PM) Yeah it was KC. He was so amped for the start. He pumped his fist after every strikeout. I tried to make a gif of it but failed. He was like a 12 year old kid pitching for the first time in little league, just pwning some n00bs

to commemorate the occasion, he brought in Timo Perez, Darin Erstad, Andy Gonzalez, Tomas Perez, Jose Macias, Neifi Perez, and John McDonald HAHA 7 NO HITTERS, HAHAHA

QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) You my friend don't know anything about football, the Giants had a very good defensive scheme versus the Patriots giving them all the dumps they wanted and eliminating the 15+ yard plays. You lose by 1 or by 3o its still a loss. The Patriots thought the same thing you are saying, but to bad the one game that counts is the one they lost. Don't tell me how many you won but when you win the big one. And yeah the lost by 3 when the opening line was -13.5 Stick to baseball. Perhaps I shouldn't say the Patriots played like s***; perhaps I should just say Tom Brady played like s***. He missed probably 5-10 throws that he didn't miss all season. That's not just the Giants pressure that got to him, it was him sucking. And I don't give a s*** what the opening line was or who was favored; as far as I'm concerned, if you win by 1 or by 21, it doesn't matter so long as you come out the victor (and I didn't put money on you). That means absolutely nothing to this argument whatsoever. I would also like to hear a few more cliches too, if that's at all possible. -

QUOTE(Shadows @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 03:28 PM) Ok well I think you are wrong And no, its not like saying that at all.. Quarterback is the SINGLE most important position on the field at all times, and the Patriots would simply not be that good if they had Matt Cassel or Vinny Testaverde at QB for the majority of this season.. Testaverde went 2-4 on a pretty all around terrible Panthers team, which translates out to about 5-11 or 6-10. You give him the talent the Pats have on both sides of the ball, along with the coaching staff they have, and I bet they could have won the 8 or 9 games they needed to win to get the AFC East title. -

QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) Says you. The 2007 Giants are better then the 2007 patriots. No football team is better than a perfect team, its unrealistic. it's impossible to prove that versus a team that no one beat. So stop hating Mercury and the 72' fins. WELCOME TO PERFECT VILLE POPULATION 1 ESTABLISHED IN 1972 The Giants were definitely better than the Patriots in week 17 :rolly (waits for "but what about in the Super Bowl" followed by some stupid slogan some moron who shouldn't be allowed to talk in public anymore came up with) The Giants played well, and the Patriots played like absolute dogs***, and the Pats still only lost by 3. The Patriots were and still are a far superior team to the Giants and I would bet very good money that the Patriots would beat them 19 out of 20 times. And Mercury is still a moron. -
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) He's living with Elvis, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Shannon Hoone, Jimi Hendrix, Bradley Nowell and Dimebag Darrell in a converted duplex outside of Omaha. Hey that's around me, maybe I should take a visit next time I'm around that area
