We got Russ Ortiz? Are you positive? THAT WOULD BE GREAT! Screw Koney, just give me some pitching and well be great! I mean, we still have Frank, Maggs, Crede, Jimenez and others for the offense but we have no one other than Buerhle for pitching! Ortiz is a proven winner, hell be great! Koney also pulled a huge choke job down the stretch last year. Real hitters like Frank and Maggs came alive down the stretch. You can tell a good hitter from a great one by how they do in the late months. Koneys not as good as you all think. If we get Ortiz and Snow (Ainsworth isnt even neccessary but he would sweeten it) for Konerko that would be awesome. If the Colon trade happens too, we would have the following lineup: Jimenez SS Vidro 2B Thomas DH Ordonez RF Snow 1B (Snows also got a great glove, which Koney doesnt) Crede 3B Lee LF Rowand CF Barrett C Rotation: Buehrle Ortiz Colon Wright Rauch We would be easy ALC favorites, barring a huge choke...

Brock would be number one on my list. I cant think of a trade that was so infamously lopsided off the top of my head. If it was transactions, the selling of Ruth to the Skanks would easily be worse but that wasnt a trade...
-
Well cubkilla, I like him because hes already shown he has the guts to make a big deal and he says hes going to go after a top rate guy this offseason. I like that. He has my everlasting support. And no hsc, Im not sharing my stuff with you. ITS ALL MINE! Also cubkilla, remember Lou Brock for Ernie Broglio? Id call that one much worse than the Ritchie trade. But no wonder, it was made by the Scrubs...

Wheres the tylenol? But no, seriously, thats what I wanted to say. None of his moves were terrible from the beginning. Except the Ray Durham one. I still do not get that trade. But with Ritchie and Wells he thought he was getting a decent starter yet they both went terribly bad, their previous and even post mortem track records in the case of Wells have been decent if not superb. KW may have a habit of overpaying but thats OK. He shows he has the guts to make a move. You never see some GMs out doing anything but KW is always out there. I support you, KW!
-
official KW supporter. I will admit I used to not like him very much but after he made the Koch trade and now hes promised to get us a new ace and maybe more Im really starting to like him. I believe that I will take heavy fire for this decision, as I did with the Redskins thing but I believe that for his own sanity one must stand up for what he believes in! So, that said, WHOS WITH ME?

Jose isn't going to be on the bench. Neither is Dangelo. Val isnt that good, he should sit while the youngsters like DJ get to play. DJ looked great last fall, lets give him a chance... So by your reasoning, 30 games in the ML's, some of which Jimenez played a game or two at SS and a game or two at 2B, qualifies Jimenez to bump the vet to the bench? Explain your logic please. In 1990 a young lad by the name of Frank Thomas played 60 games, hit 7 HRs and had 31 RBIs. We coulda just said let Carlos Martinez continue playing first, this guy Frank is nothing! And look how he turned out. Im just saying we give DJ a chance. If he fails throw Manos back in. :puke

Remember the Glover disaster? He sucked in the rotation and finally was put back in the pen where he belonged but it was too late. He still sucked. Leave Marte in the pen, hes great there, besides with what KWs going to do for our rotation this offseason we wont need it!

Here's the entire article: http://espn.go.com/mlb/columns/mcadam_sean/1475256.html What I found surprising was that there are only 5 teams listed under the hypothetical deal, and the Sox are actually put on there. the real question would be if you were GM would you pull of that trade? My honest answer would be if we could take Crede out and put in another guy or two, I would do it. Oh, whatta stupid deal! We need pitching and there is a much more logical trade where we get Colon and a star hitter in Vidro for less than what wed lose here for just one star. I dont want Vlad. I wouldnt trade for Vlad. KW must use all this great trade bait we have (Lee, Garland...) for pitching. Not for something we already have plenty of! This lineup we have already is one of the best in the league, while our pitching needs improvement...
-
Jon Garland is all that troubles me with that trade. He's still too young to give up on in a trade. But we need a quality starter like Colon. JESUS CHRIST! Which way do I go if this trade is made? :eek Dang CK, I dont see how you could actually turn down a trade like this. No offense to you but this would be the best thing thats happened to this team in a long time. We need to jump all over this while its still fresh!
-
Well, cubkilla, the difference between Maggs and Vlad is so miniscule theres actually no point in this swap. But whatever, it hasnt been offered so theres no reason to think about it. But Maggs for Griffey no way. And yes, a few rumors mean nothing but you know I was one of the biggest supporters of the Koch trade and I like the fact that he says hes going after the best. Maybe he wont do anything and if he does Ill just think of him as any other GM. But I find that unlikely. Hes sure to do something this offseason.
-
I wouldnt trade Maggs for anyone, Vlad included. And KW said he thought about it for about five seconds, not a week. Im actually starting to like KW, he doesnt seem as incompetent as he did in days gone by. I like that he wants a big time guy and a middle class schmuck. I think Kenny will do some great things this offseason. Im changing my mood to honor him now...
-
Well look at it. Val doesnt have much of a BA or OBP and hes the second place hitter. Vidro has a much better BA and OBP and so does DJ. And would you want Val hitting leadoff? And if you do bench DJ who does leadoff? Surely not Manos...
-
Exactly wsf. We are giving up two players that have actually shown skill in the majors, they are giving up three. Colon is better than Garland and if we want to contend now, hes better because God knows when Garland will come to life. Lee is good and hes the only guy Id rather not lose but with what wed get, so be it. Barrett or Bennett whatever i smuch better than Paul. I dont need any facts or evidence to support this. And Vidro is easily better than Harris. Harris is a hustler with a good glove but he didnt show much with the bat. Vidro is already a star (2 time AS?) with great power for a second baseman. Id do this deal in a second. Wed be ripping someone else off for once. KW would be laughing himself instead of being laughed at for once. GOOD DEAL!

Well spiff, I cant really say I liked, in fact, it was much the opposite, but Im sad to see anybody has to make a decision like this based on one person. Cya man, take care...

Jose isn't going to be on the bench. Neither is Dangelo. Val isnt that good, he should sit while the youngsters like DJ get to play. DJ looked great last fall, lets give him a chance...

The rumor I read is wed get Michael Bennett too and our ML would be Paul. 4-3 Expos favor but Paul hardly counts as a player... Lets so it! YEAH!

Sn Report: Lee's Future is Dim as Sox Eye Pitcher
Soxplosion replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Can you say "the next Todd Ritchie"? I sure can. Just refer to the BC rumor. If we have to dream of such rumors, take the BC one... -
If this trade happens I will never say another bad word about Williams as long as I live. We would be getting a catcher to take over til Olivos ready, a pitcher to go behind MB and a star second baseman that could scoot DJ to short and put Manos on the bench. This trade is too good to be true. Oh gee, I feel very much like an idiot for even responding to such a nutty rumor with such enthusiasm.

I do love all the National Lampoons Vactaions movies and I think Ill watch the Christmas one later but to get one the hasnt been mentioned yet, both the old and new, Miracle On 34rth Street. Truly classics...

Well, I changed it because heather didnt like it, I wanted something that matched and murc wanted me to find some other chick, which was too much work. And sorry, Matthew, I cant bring it back. It was basically Britney Spears sitting on her knees on a dock with her chest hanging out. I hope that gives you a good mental image...
-
But she has boobs. The size of your head. Im so stubborn I can usually come up with arguments for every little issue. But this one, this ones givin my some trouble... Oh boy...
-
Um, bj, do you even know who that old man is? And no, I think he looks just fine in this more modest style...
-
Im not bending over. That avatar just didnt fit. I have the name "theoldroman" (named for Comisey of course), a picture of Comiskey Park (named for him DUH) and then theres a picture of Britney Spears, who has nothing to do with baseball, not to mention Commy and the Sox. Now I have his nickname, a picture of his greatest memorial and a picture of him. I think its perfect...

Lee and another one of our better prospects, but not Rauch. Maybe Munoz or someone similar. Id do that in a second!

He wants a high draft pick. The best the Bears can be is a mediocre 7-9 and theyd get only a mediocre draft pick. So if they suck as much as possible they could get the number 1 and start winning.
