  1. I can't get excited about bringing up Anderson unless he's been looking good in AAA these past few days. With his play in April, I don't see how he's any better than the junk we've been seeing lately.
  2. Should I laugh or cry at this point? Oh man, I have the grinder bash tomorrow....
  3. I'm also a lowly split-season ticket holder and I'm going Sat. afternoon. I know they're doing more of these later in the summer so odds are you're going one of those weekends. When all else fails, call your rep.
  4. Sounds good, thanks. I hope we can get it in....although it seems like I am cursed, every night I have tickets to go it is either wet or freezing or both!
  5. What is usually the first place to find out if a game is delayed or canceled before you get to the park? Radio, whitesox.com, online news? I have tickets tonight and a busy afternoon ahead of me so I want to stay in the know.
  6. I've got RCN, and that link tells me to go to channel 97, but no dice. Anyone else got the same problem?
  7. If they're checked, you're good. If you bring them with you and you have valuables in them either lock them or don't let them out of your sight. You put them on a shelf above you or under the seat in front just like an airplane. No locks, no security, other than what you provide for yourself.
  8. Heh. You just made me realize I'm used to that these past few weeks. gidPK my friend calls him.
  9. Between AJ's bunt and BA's AB that was one of the lousiest innings of baseball I can think of in a while. That just hurt to watch.
  10. I've taken the midnight train from Chicago to upstate NY state and back. Also have taken it from Tampa FL to Wash DC area. Are you getting a sleeper car? Personally I slept better the trip I just took coach as opposed to the sleeper car. As of Christmastime, they do not check what you bring on. Having a drink or two before trying to sleep really helps . Also I'd bring lots of snacks on with you as well. Amtrak food sucks!! I second bringing earplugs particularly if you're riding coach. Kids can be noisy sometimes. Bring headphones for your laptop too, if you have one; I couldn't believe that some people actually watch movies in their seat without headphones. So rude! I vastly prefer taking the train over flying, even though from the last paragraph it doesn't sound like it! Less lines, less chaos, roomier seats, great scenery for the most part. It sounds like a fun adventure that you're embarking on! I am a little envious, heh.
  11. While I know it's unrealistic, I do hope a little that the Sox will fight for him more now that he's gone and pitched a no-hitter. The man's been elevated to mythical status now in the eyes of many Chicagoans, and letting him go will probably result in negative public perception of the organization. So I hope they think about that in their negotiations w/him, though I'm not going to get my hopes up too high.
  12. Anyone know if the local papers will be selling prints of the front page or the sports page? I have a print of the Oct. 27th Sun-Times from 05 and I'd love to have a nice copy of today's page next to it.
  13. I just got home too. What an amazing night. My seats are in the upper deck along the 1st baseline. I knew Mark was pitching well, but at the top of the 6th I went to get some cocoa, and as I was in line I could see the TVs where I had a much better view of the pitches he was throwing. At that point I knew the no-hitter was in his favor, he looked so sharp. An inning later my friend said to me, "my god look at the line for texas". It was exciting, and anxious, yet you could just feel it in the air that he was going to keep it in control and pull it off. I can hardly talk from screaming so much. I'm exhausted but I can't sleep. It was freezing out there till the last three outs, when you just couldn't feel the cold anymore and it felt like a perfect spring night. I will never, ever forget that game.
  14. Maybe Ozzie didn't want Contreras going up against Santana due to his mess of an Opening Day, didn't want to give him the extra mental pressure of going up against Santana? Maybe he thinks Contreras will be more likely to succeed in his next start if he dims the spotlight a little on the guy.
  15. Today is my birthday, and I have an exam in two hours, and I don't have any presents or anything from anyone, but the Sox finally pull out a win!!
  16. Just got back from the game, that was rough to say the least. Jose was a mess and got thoroughly boo'ed off the field. I feel OK with how our relief pitching went though, to be honest, and I'm happy to see 5 runs on the Sox end, v. a starting lefty. The new make your own T-shirt stand is flippin awesome. I already bought one (grey, with the Chicago script on the front like an away jersey, w/AJ's name and number on the back) and will likely buy more as the season goes on. The other changes to the park look very nice as well and I dig the new opening montage on the jumbotron. A bummer of a game, that's for damn sure, but to me, the whole team didn't completely bite the dust, so I'm not quite as depressed about it as I'd normally be.
  17. Gregory Pratt, I clicked on the link you posted a few posts up and it is now changed to say this: and, it also says this, which is of interest:
  18. OK, gotcha. That would be fantastic if it plays out that way.
  19. Do you see Danks with this ERA? Seriously asking, what would your guess for Danks' ERA be? I'd LOVE to see him w/that ERA but not so sure. I am happy that Floyd's in AAA. Hopefully having less of a spotlight on him will help him relax and succeed. If Danks were to collapse (hopefully not!! I'm talking worst case scenario here) then maybe Gavin will be more comfortable and ready to go w/the big leagues.
  20. I love Pablo too. That guy puts a smile on my face. Love the big display of "safe".
  21. Hi there, this is my first post. I have been lurking here a few months, and it seems like a pretty good place for Sox commentary. I did not grow up a baseball fan, became one as an adult(hence the username), so I still have lots to learn. I do enjoy the commentary here though. I will be at opening day as well, I am a split STH. My buddy and I will be Keggin' and Eggin' pregame. We both really like food and grilling, so we have a lot of fun picking out tailgate food. We're doing steaks and breakfast burritos and homemade pork sausage for our first tailgate. Our seats are in the upper deck along the first base line, I can't wait to sit down in my "summer home" on Monday. Even if the Sox have a weak season, which I am prepared for at this point, I am still happy I can go and relax at 35th and Shields.
