  1. I like when the Sox are down by 6 runs in the 9th and Farmer is still going, "You get a couple of guys on base, a few bloopers, and a long one-- and we got ourselves a new ballgame."
  2. https://www.ilsos.gov/PickAPlateWeb/index1.html You can type in plates here to see if they're taken. "SOXFAN 56" wouldn't work because it can only be a total of 7 letters/numbers... I think? I have "CHSOX 56" with White Sox license plate holders and -- no joke -- got pulled over by a cop on the North side who told me (jokingly), "You can't have those plates around here," and then drove away. Never happened again. Once leaving the O'Hare parking lot, the cashier asked me if I was a player and I said, "No, just a fan." Other than that, it hasn't been noticed very often. If you walk around the Sox parking lots, you can see a lot of personalized plates from Sox fans. Of course, that doesn't help you now.
  3. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 11:01 AM) But let's not let reality get in the way of knee jerk reaction rants about the White Sox screwing their fans. Yeah, it's not exactly "screwing" the fans, because they're not forcing you to buy the food or beer... but you can't help but wonder when you hear the vendors saying "last call"and about 10 minutes after that they call the game. It just feels like they know the game has been called, but they wait it out for that little bit longer to rake in some cash. This happened with the Yankees game as well, but with that, at least they had the Bulls on the big screen so it was somewhat entertaining. Oh well... they can't control the weather.
  4. The funniest part is when the field lights flickered and some went out... and then pops up on the screen, "We should have White Sox baseball in 45 minutes!!"
  5. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 09:08 AM) I keep getting a count of 39 batters, not 38. I counted out the same thing, but assumed that the play-by-play was incorrect. Weird. (EDIT: Maybe a Sox pitcher allowed a batter to reach base and then Jenks came in, faced 2 batters, and got a GIDP?)
  6. He's back!!!!! hahahah Erstad CF Fields 3B Thome DH Konerko 1B AJ C Dye RF Pods LF Uribe SS Richar 2B *** Suzuki CF Vidro DH Guillen RF Ibanez LF Beltre 3B Sexson 1B Johjima C Lopez 2B Betancourt SS
  7. lol @ Hawk... "STAY FAIR! STAY FAIR! STAYFAIRSTAYFAIR!! DAGGG GUMMIT!!"
  8. Seeing that fan's sign in KC that said "We Want Fourth Place!" is just further reason why the Sox need this series... GO SOX!
  9. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) Um, yes he was. A pitcher can't pitch himself into a save situation Maybe he meant that with a 6-1 lead, it wouldn't have been a save situation-- where after Jenks came in to clean up Thornton's mess, it was a save situation?
  10. I always see articles quoting Ozzie as saying, "If you're playing against AJ you hate him, if he's on your team you hate him a little less," but whenever I actually see or hear Ozzie talk about him, the quote is something about "if he's on your team, you understand what he's doing." So I don't know if it's a true quote. Either way, it's funny.
  11. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 18, 2007 -> 09:15 AM) haha...I have no idea what this post means? You don't like that the guy had to ask you for directions? No, sorry-- I didn't mean that it bothered me that I gave him directions. Just that if tourists, casual fans, etc don't ask where bars or restaurants are, they may (incorrectly) assume that the stereotypes about the South Side are true. It's not as if any bars really stand out in plain site while standing in front of the park. Not like it really matters to me, but just tossing that out there...
  12. I think it strikes some of us as a bad ad campaign because it still rings true for many people. As I was walking to the park this week, someone asked me, "Hey, I can't find Jimbo's, where is it???" all excited as if he wanted to really see the place. I felt like casual fans shouldn't have to ask where the nearest bar is if they want to grab a drink before the game, but maybe the layout with the parking lots just doesn't work with that concept. And it's not like it took that much time for me to tell the guy.
  13. The only thing that surprised me is that they didn't wait for the Bulls game to finish before announcing it.
  14. I agree that he looked absolutely terrible against Escobar-- especially the last AB that he had. But I'll wait to make judgments until he's gotten at least a little bit comfortable on the roster.
