Old Sock Drawer, ex Sox player discussion
caulfield12 replied to elrockinMT's topic in The Diamond Club
Or that Glasnow was out…or that the Giants had to face one of the best second place teams in MLB history, a team that finished with only one more loss on the entire season. As far as Rodon goes, he now has a baseline or foundation of innings to work from now…after that 2-3 year mess of injuries. Some are arguing he can only make 100-120 innings again, others for 140-150 and beyond. The proof will be in the pudding. Most would bet on the Gianys based on the recent success of the Zaidi front office turning lemons into lemonade on the pitching front. -
Well, the Twins fared a lot better than the White Sox last year in the Patriots Day early game…Dylan Bundy off to a very solid start. Ober was good as well his last time out. We’ll just have to wait and see how long Archer and Paddack can last.

Why does Elon Musk charge what he does for a Tesla? It’s not because of the high labor costs of workers in Shanghai… 17-month salaries annually Considering that the employee's basic salary in the Tesla Giga Shanghai factory is 5,000 Chinese Yuan ($773), I can only imagine that anything the people who assemble Tesla cars get on top of it is highly welcomed.2021年9月21日

https://blog.cheapism.com/mlb-hot-dog-beer-prices/ Hot dog and beer prices at every MLB stadium… Seems this is based on 2021 prices and doesn’t factor in 2022 increases.

“Elysian Park Grill: The staple hot dog choice for all Dodgers fans to enjoy. Fans typically invest in the $33 all you can eat food options in right field plaza to have unlimited Dodger Dogs, Vegan Hot Dogs, Going Yard Dodger Sausages, cracker jacks, and more. You can also find Elysian Park Grill on the loge level at the stadium. According to mlb.com/dodgers, fans can bring outside food into Dodger Stadium during a game. All outside food must be put into a clear plastic bag that is smaller than 12″X12″X6″. You can read more about the outside food rules in that link from MLB.com.” Generally, parking at the on-site Guaranteed Rate Field lots costs $20, but special event parking rates can range from $25 – $30. Sunday parking passes could also be available for $10. White Sox Day-of-Game parking and pre-paid parking pass for the 2021 season cost $25. Dodger Stadium Parking Rates. Baba General Parking: $17 in advance and $25 at the gate. Oversized vehicles including limos and RVs are $40 in advance and $50 at the gate. General parking includes Lots 1-15 . Off-Site Parking: Lots 13 and 14 in red above cost just $5 at the gate Shocking. The Dodgers have had the highest MLB payroll for a number of years but charge less than the White Sox for most things inside the ballpark.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance Look at the bottom 10. It's obviously early and the White Sox will eventually finish in the 12-14 range as the weather improves…but 6 of the Bottom 10 are the entire AL Central and Pittsburgh…all Rust Belt or Midwest cities that have generally struggled since the 1994-95 strike and especially the 2007-09 financial crisis. Surely the lockdown and lack of any significant moves this offseason didn’t help matters. Fwiw, Cincy will end up with this group by the end of the year as well. For Sox fans, playing those other four divisional teams just isn’t going to cut it. (Yes, Cards/Cubs/Brewers are the exceptions for so many reasons there’s no point in getting into that discussion.)

She was born exactly one week after my mom in 1929. Now feeling REALLY old, for those of us in Generation X, those Seinfeld actors are kind of frozen in time and don't age...well, except for Kramer. The actor who played Jerry's father, Barney Martin, died 17 years ago just after turning 82.

Cueto and Easter memories...you're really becoming quite the wet blanket. Go back to worshipping David Ross and Sei-ya Suzuki. Maybe they can finish in second if the Brewers forget how to score runs all season long.

We need to merge Katz along with the Brewers/Indians strategies for developing pitching from lower level draft picks... I guess with the Sox it's more accurate to say we weren't as focused on quality of depth (continues to be a problem) and then the obvious issues with Rodon (gassed) and Lynn (not 100% physically, gassed and Astros a bad match-up), which they will also have to address with Kopech in the second half as well. We've always heard so many accolades the last decade about the quality of the minor league pitching coaches, but the results are lacking. Granted, the draft results have been hit and miss (at best) and who knows how much Getz has learned about the pitching side of things since he took over...you would think he would naturally have more insight on the position player side, right?

White Sox remain 3rd in MLB Power Rankings
caulfield12 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Stripling and Gausman have been "okay," with Kikuchi and obviously Berrios struggling. Then you have Ryu to the IL. They have the name recognition, I guess? I think it's 75% hype and attention to Vladdy Jr. and the "greatest offense on turf" and perhaps the fact that Romano has seemingly settled in at closer. -

If they are planning to trade him, they should keep him down in W-S through the All-Star game in June...to build up his prospect portfolio. Of course, the real test is the jump to AA, much better quality of pitching and less of an offense-friendly stadium and league in general.
-
Pretty clear that the Dodgers, Giants and (maybe) the Padres have figured out the key is pitching...and the Angels at least brought in Syndergaard and replaced half their bullpen. Mariners on the upswing. Out west, the only laggards are the D-Backs and whatever the heck the A's are doing. The offense-first approach of the Twins and Sox doesn't work in the post-season (yes, the White Sox are doing well on the pitching front SO FAR, but that doesn't appear to be their long-term strength unless they can somehow keep Kopech fresh and preserve the health of their Big 3).

Haven't heard anything... Guess we won't until they decide they can't tolerate any more VV/Lambert starts and/or opt NOT to go with Lopez/McClure instead...
-
Well, this was said in the first inning when it looked like VV wasn't even going to escape that situation... They used mostly the back end and guys who won't even be on the roster in a month, but it's looking quite likely they will have at least one doubleheader this week.

The Royals were just two, but they REALLY made those two years count. -

Shades of Jimmy Rollins...albeit a much more expensive version that will be harder to waive. -

The Rays were at least in the World Series the previous year with a bottom tier payroll...so there's that. -

The guy incessantly shouting at Larry Vanover has been the annoying star of the game. Don’t be that guy…or at least have him in your seating section. -

With the most unrecognizable lineup in baseball other than some of the rebuilding teams…well, other than Crawford and Belt. Pitching factory. The Rays are actually quite similar, other than the presence of Franco. -

First Sox starter to give up more than 3 runs. Michael Wacha @ $7 million >>> VV and Cueto Plus we are about to destroy the bullpen before two important divisional series on the road.
