  1. Here's an interesting plan for the Twins...starting Archer and Paddack the next two games against the Dodgers.
  2. Regular season, position players. Post season, elite starting pitchers.
  3. Rumor: White Sox balk at Athletics’ bonkers trade demand for Frankie Montas Manaea has since been dealt to the Padres, with USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reporting that the White Sox “nearly” landed Manaea instead, and are still looking at Montas. However, the A’s want young slugger Andrew Vaughn back in return, and the Sox are balking at the demand. The White Sox have looked into Sean Manaea, who was dealt to the San Diego Padres, and Montas. However, the Athletics are seeking slugger Andrew Vaughn in return, a move Chicago is seemingly unwilling to make. https://clutchpoints.com/rumor-white-sox-balk-at-athletics-bonkers-trade-demand-for-frankie-montas/ So the rumor was supposedly Montgomery + for Manaea? Who the heck came up with THAT headline, btw? What the hell is "clutchpoints"? Seems like a site for people with runny stomachs who can't get to the bathroom on time...
  4. Nope. Just a subtle did at Greg's tendency to refer to himself in third person. And Greg's from KS, fellow home state of the 1996 presidential nominee.
  5. Or Nick Swisher/Ozzie plastic blow up doll controversies. Or Pal is actually another account of Ray Ray's, since he eventually calls everyone he argues with repeatedly "pal/buddy," right?
  6. Ray Ray, you have it all wrong. SoxTalk needs good villains and bad guys to keep the likes/emojis flowing. Otherwise, it's just one big circle jerk. Ron, Greg, Parkman, Caulfield. Balta is the Devil's Advocate with a social conscience. Ray Ray enjoys arguing with nearly everyone and really doesn't seem to care what people think about him, but his insights are more valuable than his irascibility. Maybe it's easier to characterize it as impatience with those less well-informed or lacking in athletic backgrounds.
  7. Checks the tail numbers of private jets flying into the Dominican associated with SoxTalk board members... Nah. That sounds a bit like one of those JFK or 9/11 conspiracy sites.
  8. I think Sox brass has too much invested in the ongoing Cuban Connection to so quickly turn around and trade a prospect they have patiently been waiting on for two years. Otoh, Cespedes could have some "plus" value due to his name/family connection to that franchise. I think they will ultimately wait until June/July.
  9. One thing that's always going to be consistent... site owners/operators will typically embrace what brings more traffic and conversation, as long as it doesn't put the site in any type of legal jeopardy. I do agree that people have a right to be skeptical. That resulting discussion is what leads to insiders so to speak having credibility or not. And for those outside of the know, there will be those who seem almost overly deferential to these insider gods, and those naturally on the opposite end of the spectrum.
  10. You don't approach Oakland willing to trade Vaughn then suddenly change your mind. The only thing making sense is the A's asking for at least one of Burger/Sheets AND Montgomery. Or someone like Ramos or Kath instead of Montgomery.
  11. This is all fine and good, but a thousand mile gap from Vaughn to Sheets/Burger AND Montgomery. Both of those guys (pick one of two + Montgomery) together, plus one third tier piece is going to be the next ask after AV. They won't get it, hopefully/obviously, but it's a starting point.

  13. Kwan with a bases clearing double late…crazy hot start.
  14. If you sanction India, you just push them towards Russia and China…they’re the second biggest culprit with coal powered electric plants and the fastest growing world population.
  15. SF opened up a lot of salary flexibility this year…he might bolt regardless, but they’re as likely to end up with his as the rest of the field combined, unless someone like Cohen or the Rangers get involved. Cubs, depending on how this season goes for them. Red Sox, too.
  16. Not to mention all four divisional rivals give up lesser picks if they sign guys with QO’s attached compared to the White Sox. If they said they wanted to spend the comparative pick value they just pretty much gave away on more scouts or an improved analytics system, that would be one thing. One would assume if the stuff was still there that a better way for them to handle his workload could have been developed for 2022-23 to keep him fresh/er for the postseason. Maybe the Indians should apologize to the rest of the division for doing the best job extending young players while still maintaining a bottom 5 MLB payroll. If they really had integrity, they would be honest with their fans and not give false hope. Just trade Ramirez and Bieber!
  17. Suzuki not being overwhelmed by the moment...obviously has some pop in his bat.
  18. Well, the Manaea trade was for the #12 and #28 prospects of a so-called "average to below average" minor league system...so who's to say how players OTHER than Vaughn are being evaluated by MLB front offices. It will certainly be more of an issue after a couple of Velasquez starts.
  19. The baseline for the 2018-20 seasons was so low. He hit a wall. If he throws 150-160 effective innings this year, Hahn will have made the wrong decision again...
  20. Should be about $6.5 million but doubtful Cueto lasts the entire season.
  21. Obviously too much or we would have traded for him or Manaea...if you take Vaughn out of the equation, there's no way to acquire a top-flight/cost-controlled starting pitcher. Just have to wait for minor leaguers to establish themselves the first 3-4 months.
