  1. If we didn't already have Bummer, and granted, he hasn't been Mr. Reliable...it would be more of a priority to have that additional LHR. Because right now, he's already pacing himself like a starter, or there's something wrong with either his mechanics/confidence or an actual physical problem. He is certainly not the same pitcher we saw down the stretch in 2020. We can theoretically chalk it up to the cold weather and being used to pitching in SEC heat/humidity in the springtime...so we will just have to monitor him as the season progresses. Agree that getting him ready to replace Lynn/Rodon SHOULD be the priority. If nothing else, we could throw Lopez into the pen and see how he does, but they apparently prefer the limited bursts from Burdi for now.
  2. Turned off the feed as soon as the Abreu Kopech fiasco at first and went back to sleep. Still have way too many defensive issues to be ironed out. The clean game last night totally feels like such an anomaly in the emerging narrative of this early season. The bullpen continues to be perplexing, just like challenging one of the top five hitters in the AL with 1B open. Maybe Lynn thought a reliever would come into the game if he walked Ramirez?
  3. Or Moncada is the old Moncada... or Abreu is the old Abreu.
  4. Abreu had the play of the game last night, but hard to praise his defense too much today. Going on the road to Boston, Cleveland, etc., will start to tell us a lot more about this team's ability to go an extended run or merely tread water waiting for the lineup we originally imagined with Eloy. But Eloy as exalted & redeeming savior after his 4 month ethereal vacation isn't something anyone in the front office should be counting on.
  5. Colome escaped with his typical tight rope act in the top of the 9th...tied 3-3 still. Indians were hitting .195 entering the game...interesting no throw there at first. Poor grip on ball? Eaton pushed off bag play that would have been 2nd and 3rd, no outs looms large. Offense continues to look like total garbage.
  6. Crochet hasn’t given up an MLB earned run.... First White Sox pitcher with 10+ k’s and no walks in consecutive starts in Sox history for Lynn.
  7. Yeah, just checked it. Bottom of the 8th, tie game. Now first and second, no outs for Minny.
  8. You knew the CG was going to take something out of him...pretty much inevitable.
  9. Twins just blew 3-0 lead, 2 out, 3-2 count bases clearing double by Verdugo off Taylor Rogers in the 8th...tied now, chance to take lead. Seven game winning streak vs. five game losing streaks on the line.
  10. Wow, Acuna has seven homers already, but the Braves are still struggling... Luis Robert is starting to come around recently, but this feels like pretty much every single White Sox game with runners in scoring pitching. On the plus side, the bullpen is as rested as possible. Arguing getting rusty with all the great starting pitching performances.
  11. The latest CDC numbers reinforce these reports. So far, 14 states have administered less than 75 percent of the doses distributed to them (in ascending order): Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Georgia, Alaska, Wyoming, Louisiana, Tennessee, West Virginia, Florida, Hawaii, Oklahoma, Indiana and South Carolina. Among them, only Hawaii has at least partially vaccinated a larger share of its residents than the national average (about 37 percent). At the other end of the spectrum, 20 states have administered more than 80 percent of the doses distributed to them (again, in ascending order): Pennsylvania, Washington, Nebraska, Virginia, Connecticut, Colorado, Nevada, New York, Vermont, Iowa, New Mexico, Massachusetts, Utah, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Rhode Island, North Dakota, Minnesota, Maine and New Hampshire. Among them, only North Dakota, Utah and Nevada have at least partially vaccinated a smaller share of their residents than the national average. https://www.yahoo.com/news/america-is-about-to-hit-a-vaccine-wall-as-demand-drops-with-or-without-johnson-johnson-162241805.html
  12. Hahn said 90%+ of traveling party were vaccinated successfully.
  13. And Kopech also looks a lot smoother, much more in rhythm in terms of repeatability and in control...if only we can fix Bummer and Crochet next, we’d be all set.
  14. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/carlos-rodon-white-sox-cleveland-no-hitter-mlb-024941925.html Looks like is really credit the change in mechanics (getting a lot more drive forward with the legs) as the reason for his success and growth in confidence in terms of putting less stress on the shoulder and elbow...a muscling up or arm pitcher rather than incorporating the full body swinging forward.
  15. Did they ever get a camera angle from straight above on that inside slider to Chang? It didn’t even clip the plate coming across from 10 to 4?
  16. He actually slid past first with his right arm and reached back or to the side with his left arm...should have been safe with a better slide although maybe he was naturally shying away from a collision with Abreu and/or being spiked.
  17. https://www.mlb.com/video/every-out-from-rodon-s-no-no?t=key-moments Every out in the game, 6 minute video. Abreu, Garcia (two balls that were pretty difficult, Abreu handled the throw on one), Moncada (another errant throw handled) were probably the four toughest outs. Another to Robert was made to look easy, and then a rocket but hit right at Vaughn. Almost every ball to Andrew he barely had to move, but he caught them.
  18. We've also tied our win total for all of last year against CLE.
  19. I think they would be better off giving that money to Rodon instead of Lynn ($15-20+ million per season), but you know JR won't like either eventuality, and will refer back to Danks, haha. That said, if I was the White Sox, I would go out there as early as feasible in July/August and announce extensions with both Lynn and Rodon. That will take a lot of the sting out of losing Giolito, and there definitely is more risk attendant to a starter (in Lucas) with a heavy workload the last 3-4 years who had his first TJ surgery so early in his career...right out of high school/Harvard Westlake. I just can't imagine them giving Lucas anything approaching $25 million per season, which is closer to his open market value, if not even a little low with the dearth of TOR starters on the market in coming years. Rodon has made about $14.5 million in his career, btw, including his signing bonus. Still represented by Scott Boras Corp.
  20. Let's say Carlos stays healthy at least through the All-Star break. How much money and how many years would you be willing to give him...assuming he can keep that 95-99+ fastball and maintain his slider? 3 years? $50-55ish million? Or bigger guaranteed or upfront money, maybe he wants a signing bonus and is willing to defer the back half of the deal into some future undetermined years?
