Which superstar did we pass up on, exactly? Jarred Kallenic’s going to be the name that will be argued...whether a superstar or Benintendi/Nimmo, we shall see. Not much excuse, under scouting a local kid from Wisconsin.

Bumgarner just doesn’t have anything. What’s impressed me this year is he’s continuing to work on his defense...and he’s driving so many balls for power to RF. Not just RCF, but even down the line. But he can clearly pull a ball when he needs to. Obviously still striking out a lot, but you start talking A Rod, Griffey, Jr. and Trout in terms of an impact at age 20-21, and missing almost half last year but already sitting on 30 career homers. Plus, he has as big and infectious a personality as Trout is lacking. But he’s still respectful of the game from growing up around it. He knows how to have fun, that’s for sure. He’s must see tv right now, like Dwight Gooden early in his career.

Self-inflicted wounds. Not going to get THAT upset, but eminently avoidable nonetheless.

Like punting at that point on Delmonico...

Luplow was something like 0/20 coming into game, Taylor a catcher best known for defense (not really known at all compared to the likes of Gomes and R. Perez) and DeShields just MEH as a hitter. Context matters.

Bumgarner is absolute toast. Bullet dodged. Average FB velo down about 4 mph. Someone just homered for his 8th of the year (and 4th of series) against him and shimmied across the dugout, playfully ignored by teammates with the silent treatment. Bumgarner will be royally pissed LF didn’t even bother to turn around.

MLB Pipeline has already ranked Basabe as the 18th-best prospect in San Francisco’s farm system, with a scouting report noting that he “has the tools to be a worthwhile fourth outfielder,” even if his hitting is still a question mark. Basabe has batted .248/.345/.392 across 2570 PA in the minors (none above the Double-A level), and he has shown a lot of swing-and-miss in his approach at the plate. Luis Basabe, a 23-year-old Venezuela native ranked as the No. 11 prospect in the White Sox farm system by MLB.com, is headed to San Francisco in exchange for cash considerations. “I think this is what makes Farhan and Scott so good at what they do,” manager Gabe Kapler said. “To be able to bring in a guy who slots immediately into our top prospects list without giving up too much in return. Basabe is tooled up. This is a guy with arm strength and speed.” The White Sox designated Basabe for assignment earlier this week. To clear a space on the 40-man roster for Basabe, the Giants placed right-handed pitcher Jordan Humphreys on the restricted list for what Kapler termed, “family reasons.” Humphreys was acquired last Sunday in a deal with the Mets that sent outfielder Billy Hamilton to New York. Basabe has never played above Double-A, but the former White Sox prospect has a long track record in the minors of playing an above-average center field and drawing a considerable amount of walks. “A real ceiling, so he’s an exciting add to our system,” Kapler said. A career .248 hitter with a .737 OPS in seven minor league seasons, Basabe has struggled at the plate for much of his professional career but has demonstrated tools that lead some industry analysts to believe he could hit 15-to-20 home runs per year when he does reach the majors. https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/08/09/sf-giants-acquire-outfielder-in-trade-with-chicago-white-sox/

Only during the heart of a pandemic....could such an idea be snuck through without anyone batting an eye, Washington (CNN). White House aides reached out to South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem last year about the process of adding additional presidents to Mount Rushmore, the New York Times reported. According to a person familiar who spoke with the Times, Noem then greeted Trump when he arrived in the state for his July Fourth celebrations at the monument with a four-foot replica of Mount Rushmore that included his face. Noem has noted before Trump's "dream" to have his face on Mount Rushmore, the Coolidge-era sculpture that features the 60-foot-tall faces of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. According to a 2018 interview with Noem, the two struck up a conversation about the sculpture in the Oval Office during their first meeting, where she initially thought he was joking. "I started laughing," she said. "He wasn't laughing, so he was totally serious." "He said, 'Kristi, come on over here. Shake my hand, and so I shook his hand, and I said, 'Mr. President, you should come to South Dakota sometime. We have Mount Rushmore.' And he goes, 'Do you know it's my dream to have my face on Mount Rushmore?'" Trump also toyed with the idea of adding himself to Mount Rushmore in 2017 at a campaign rally in Youngstown, Ohio. And speaking of that beloved state of South Dakota...

No, not serious. He dud something last year (prioritizing winning or bunting over development) that really pissed someone off. Maybe still starting Robert in a game with treacherous field conditions due to weather...who knows.

Gall, Gauls, Visigoths, it was total BS. looking at their recent pitching looks, and respective performances, there were at least 5-6 better options in the third and certainly against their four best hitters in the top of the 4th. Now we can argue Mendick getting deked and Grandal aided and abetted the meltdown, but Anderson was never any good in the first place. I can’t remember a singke spring game the last two years where he was unscored upon.

Victor Diaz is already out of the organization, yes? And then there were two...
