GT 5/4: SOX at CIN
This was going to be a 2014 first round draft battle of Rodon vs. Hoffman, but they pushed Rodon back to protect him...definitely the right move looking at some of his pitch counts, K numbers and the fact that the KC series has taken on added importance in terms of setting a tone with them early in the year.

The Say Sorry to Rick Hahn Thread
The only way we'll find out is if he ever leaves the White Sox. Probably to do some impressive-sounding SPAC/investment gig related to speculation on Latin American beisbol players.

Addressing the OF shortage (Robert Injury Spinoff)
Once again, this is the White Sox. It will be DeShields, not Gallo. Let’s be real.

If we could have developed Narvaez like the Brewers so far...we would never have made that Grandal signing. Or, worst-case, we’d have both McCann and Omar, and invested the savings elsewhere.

Luis Robert grade 3 strain/torn Hip Flexor, est. out 12-16 weeks
Yes, he’s great too, especially as over the top Harry Doyle, haha. Or doing the straight man thing, too.

Of course...but he spun great stories, not just corny jokes.

It will be Delino DeShields, Jr., not Gallo...

Yet no injury here, apparently...the weird thing about awkward, non contact injuries. Oblique, another.

I just prefer the Scully, Harwell, Buck voices from the past who were all about describing the game/action taking place in front of them...setting the scene and capturing the atmosphere, so to speak. No added frills.

The mods are free to delete it. Be my guest. Whatever floats your boat. The one that won’t ever get deleted is the Covid-19 one I started, unfortunately.

Might as well try throwing everything this year but the kitchen sink, alas...no is the answer.

I bring 50% of it on myself...that said, I really wonder about those guys who just can’t resist the urge to pile on, it’s like middle school bullying. Just makes me laugh. And it brings out a nastier side of people with many constantly trying to crack cheap jokes...almost like SoxTalk versions of Jason Benetti. Like in the minor league thread today...if I had a million dollars for every poster who fell in love with an Aaron Miles or CJ Rutherford or Chris Getz and were convinced XYZ player would make some significant impact at the big league level, I would have a a couple of billion dollars by now. Yermin actually is one of the first in ages to surprise a lot of people on the upside. And the fact that I do “get” 90-95% of what Benetti somehow thinks is funny (at my relatively advanced age of 51) means that 75-80% of our younger fanbase will not. But maybe they love that Nationwide duet nonsense, who knows.

He’s already missing 2-3 weeks with a corneal problem causing dizziness/blurred vision.

Pretty sure KW is friends with his father...

If he could really put up his career 772 ops at age 30 and play above average defense in CF...but that second part is unlikely. You have to take your chances with Hamilton first being to put up a number in the 600s because of Vaughn and Eaton being so banged up and already 2-3 strides behind 2016 peak Eaton in the first place.

None that JR or Hahn are willing to give up anything of value for...or we would have beat SFG offer for Tauchman.

https://www.fangraphs.com/players/brian-goodwin/12858/stats?position=OF Four of out five years, negative defensive splits. Should fit in just fine with the Sox at age 30 and on his fifth or sixth organization. But who knows, maybe he plays closer to Michael A. Taylor with the Royals. LaRussa will go Hamilton first, though.

So then Gallo doesn’t have enough play in CF to actually claim he’s much more than average to below average for that position...for those who watch him day in and day out, such as scouts or Rangers’ fans.

Aren’t Gallo’s defensive numbers in RF really bad this year, at least FG’s...? Let alone CF.
