  1. I was defending the use of Cishek there, not sarcastically enough, apparently.
  2. Should have saved the money on Grandal and invested in more pitching, haha!
  3. Bummer two days in a row? Ball really jumping today. Moncada thought his was out earlier to the LCF gap.
  4. If Herrera, Cishek and Bummer aren't going to be reliable, the 2000 and 2006 offenses aren't going to be enough to overcome it.
  5. Who didn't see that coming? Losing this game would be terrible, considering the long road trip we are staring right in the face.
  6. Aha, saw other teams were charging $99....half that amount seems a bit more reasonable, somehow.
  7. Just don’t get swept. The one consolation from underachieving this year would be a new manager from outside the organization and a few more innovative coaches for 2021 as well, but hardly counting on it.
  8. $10,000 “investment,” but some have noted its limiting participation from lots of other fans. I guess it’s a little bit reminiscent of that Alex and Ursula Snelius reading over many seasons...obviously a huge difference in the amount of money involved. The next George from Windy City Limousine? Impossible! More like the next Pete Vukovich...
  9. That loss was mostly on Giolito...he’s supposed to be the ace, TOR starter. We talked about for 2-3 years that a Gavin Floyd career trajectory was a good comp, and thus we’re now in 2009. Grandal and EE didn’t do a thing, two out hits killed us and the bullpen wet the bed. Nothing more you can really say. Win 20, lose 20 and last night’s game was one we certainly had an opportunity in, but nearly every bounce and call went their way. As soon as Polanco’s ball landed in front of Robert, you just had a feeling it wasn’t going to be their day. That really seemed to take the wind out of the sails.
  10. Rich Hill was that classic, crafty left-handed veteran waiting in the weeds game. At least with Dobnak, it feels like a 50/50 chance to win. With Hill, you would have had to bet the Twins 80-90% of the time. Odorizzi and pitchers of his ilk never give the White Sox fits like that.
  11. Legitimately feel sorry for anyone whose life is elevated by enjoying the downfall of any player unless he's just a total a--hat.
  12. It's ACTUALLY 2.7 games now. You simply cannot afford to get swept in any series, especially at home.
  13. Oh, thought he went 5 for some reason...guess it doesn't really matter. He's like the CC Sabathia of this generation against the Sox.
  14. Do we REALLY have to sit through two months' worth of remote God Bless America performances??? Can't Covid-19 cancel them out? It could be worse. It could be forced playing of Lee Greenwood, I guess.
  15. Berrios is now going to be 12-2 against the White Sox in his career. Guess we're going to have to sign him as a FA, too. Undoubtedly the best way to weaken that damned team, and quickly. At this point, just hoping for 4-6 against the Twins, but prepared for 3-7. Cole Kalhoun just homered for AZ. Would have been nice to have him on the field instead of Delmonico.
  16. You're really going to hit EE 7th? One thing for sure, a veteran manager like Renteria won't do that unless he just goes into a horrendous slump. Seems he wants to keep Robert in that 7th or 8th spot for most of the season unless/until he absolutely catches fire.
  17. When you think of it, each AL Central game is counting 2.5X normal...so you really can't afford any sweeps against the Twins or the Indians or you really start putting yourself behind the 8 ball. The fact that Ross Detwiler's a better option than Carson Fulmer at this point in time...doesn't such much for our talent evaluation.
  18. If it wasn't for that new contract, every time he had a game like tonight....it would just be endless "when are we going to trade him for the 2021 equivalent of Matt LaPorta (La Fatta as Ozzie affectionately referred to him.)
  19. Honestly, I have been listening to Morneau and Bremer for most of the game. Don't miss Dan "Man From" Gladden at all, or Bert Be Home Blyleven.
  20. Lew Ford, Denny Hocking, Matt LeCroy. They had another Hispanic catcher that always seemed to victimize us. Albert Blanco? Not to mention Torii Hunter robbing everything in CF and running over poor Josh Paul and taunting...I think it was him? Then those damned bullpens that were precursors to the Royals in 2013-15.
  21. Watch out Keith Olbermann's mother, in case there's a cardboard cutout anywhere in the vicinity of the 1B stands... Weird game. Complete lull after the first couple of innings, Encarnacion getting beaned in the knee. These games are tough to watch without any fans in the middle innings when nothing's really going on.
  22. The last manager I really liked other than Ozzie from 2002-2008 was Torborg. Manuel gets a lot of credit for that 2000 team and setting the tone for them, but they were an offensive juggernaut for most of that season. Just had to fill out the line-up card and get out of the way.
  23. Leury not winning over the hearts and minds of any new fans tonight. Robert is going to have to learn to lay off the breaking stuff...he's going to get a steady diet of that for most of his rookie season. Hopefully he can make the adjustment that all talented rookies face relatively quickly. It took Yoan much longer than expected...and at least half a season for Eloy.
