Luis Robert grade 3 strain/torn Hip Flexor, est. out 12-16 weeks
Hate that my first thought there was the Bo Jackson injury (avascular necrosis) on a football field...but seems like hip flexor has to be it. Praying for that, he’s my favorite Sox player in ages.

But he was grabbing up high on the leg...knee would have been a totally different reaction. Eaton almost too nonchalant there...barely reached out at last stride.

Well, at least looks like a semi-competent MLB left fielder, as opposed to...

Aging curve or just never that good until late May...except 2014 rookie campaign.

Thanks for jinxing the season, lol...between this and the MAKINGS of a juggernaut thread.

How long it takes a hip flexor strain to heal depends on how severe the injury is. A mild strain can take a few weeks to heal. But a severe strain can take six weeks or more to heal, according to Summit Medical Group. Best case here, regardless, probably 4-6 weeks out...

But he was grabbing higher, more of a groin pull, hopefully.

Should have added Tauchman when they had the opportunity...

In the short term, Engel will take over CF...but this season is now in jeopardy of being lost.

Love how glaring Leury’s OBP is in that line-up.

The one hitter on their team you have to be really careful with...oh well, and Tim Anderson really looking focused on defense this year, the infield equivalent of Luis Robert.

Leave it to TLR to somehow sour the Yermin Mercedes Disney story of the year in MLB...

The Say Sorry to Rick Hahn Thread
I think VAFAN fan must have paid him some type of bribe in “likes” for a puff piece on Hahn...whenever any defense starts off with excuses and tons of rationalizations and anything but an honest reckoning with the actual results on the field (such as nobody could have possibly foreseen Eloy getting hurt or Grandal/Abreu/Keuchel declining). Or he’s now siddenly a genius for not extending Giolito when it was never likely to happen in the first place...

I feel like there’s some kind of Jim Jones-level of cult following that’s going on here...I mean, shouldn’t we actually win our division every 2-3 years with all the natural advantages we have over the other four markets in the AL Central (and same with the Cubs as well, except for St. Louis each year)?

Bad results? KW and TLR are mostly responsible, right? Because great or HoF front office execs have a reputation for being constantly “overrode” in their duties.

Or, I don’t know, beat the Royals...it’s not like we are passing the 1927-1933 Yankees here. Without Yermin, Kopech and Rodon, it’s a Beauty & the Beast style pitchforks and hand brooms insurrection at the gates of 35th & Shields. Two of those three feel almost accidental on the part of Hahn.

Playoff odds
The point is, racking up a ton of outfield assists really boosts your defensive numbers and brings more attention to your performance in general. Self fulfilling prophecy. Eaton wouldn’t have fetched the haul he did after 2016 with his CF metrics...his slew of assists boosted him into another stratosphere that offseason.

Playoff odds
Gold Gloves are based on reputation, highlights, offense (ironic, see Jeter)...if you can throw 92-98 mph with a full running start in the outfield, no doubt there would be a year when someone like Eaton or even Avi Garcia could make a run at an award like that. Look at Joey Gallo 2020 vs. 2021, etc. However, if you can play SS, you can certainly play any position on the field, except catcher. And there had/have been conversations for years now about Tim Anderson being a great candidate for CF before Robert came along...especially when he commits a flurry of errors over a short stretch.

If the White Sox make three consecutive AL Championship series, build a Hahn statue and give him a lifetime guaranteed contract. Heck, see the bar lower, just two out of three from 2021-2023.

Hahaha...deliberately trying to spark an argument, aren’t you? Well, Abreu, Grandal, Giolito, Keuchel and Hendriks have combined for something like -0.6 value, but the Sox are still sitting pretty with everything in the division resting on the Royals’ starting pitching somehow holding up. Right now, I would happily hand over the organization to the Brewers, Giants (new GM has hit FA pitcher after FA pitcher right on the head), Astros, Dodgers, Cardinals, Braves, Rays, A’s, Indians, etc., front offices and not even blink. Heck, I will throw in Kim Ng from Miami fir good measure. But, with the requirement there be a payroll floor of $150 million going forward in order to legitimately compete for a World Series title. A stronger GM stands in the way of JR and forces his owner to choose between sentimental heart/emotion and rational logic/pragmatism and risk mitigation, which Hahn mostly represents. If he’s actually as coveted as everyone claims, he should easily be able find another top position despite the clearly less than stellar FA and drafting record.
