  1. Didn't he also have some domestic violence or pretty serious off the field issues along the way?
  2. Flavum almost never gets angry and even he's cursing. What's the world coming to? Elrockin' giving up? Reyes has gone from one of the best pitching prospects in baseball to the Cardinals' version of Carlos Rodon.
  3. Pitching depth or minor league coaching depth? Because the second has always been pointed out as one of our "niche" advantages...supposedly.
  4. What are the odds of getting swept the first two doubleheaders of a big league season in the span of less than a month to open a year? Probably something like 10-15%, at most? Damage has been done, but it's still theoretically a game if the offense hasn't given up just yet.
  5. Well, at least if those two baserunners on right now score, this game is over and can be put out of its misery...meanwhile, the Cubs are waiting just to stomp all over a "down on themselves" White Sox team that can't get out of its own way playing at home for some odd reason. 2-8?
  6. And we wouldn't have had to acquire Cishek had Herrera not been a total disaster...at this point, Burdi needs to start getting more of these opportunities, or Heuer, or SOMEONE/ANYONE.
  7. Congratulations to the youngster on his first big league hit, one of many "firsts" we'll see against White Sox pitching this "season."
  8. Moncada exhausted? What world is that possible in? Renteria continues to demonstrate no feeling for the game of baseball. Bader beating out the double play here is actually the key play, although one could point to many. WHERE IS THE BULLPEN>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>?????
  9. Well, when it rains it pours, as the old saying goes. "That ball was kill't..." Fortunately, foul for Carlson, at least for the moment. RR, no signs of life coming out of the dugout and stopping this run going against the White Sox...
  10. The days of Evan Marshall being a reliable set-up guy are over. Hanging change-up, sped up the bat, which you of course never want to do when hitters have had such a long layoff. "Could see it coming," say the Cards' announcers. Why did I wake up 10 minutes ago for THIS?
  11. Mendick probably wasn't going to have a play there, but...if he fields it cleanly.
  12. Well, this second game looks like it's going to be another nail-biter. Jimenez and Robert the stories of the game so far... UH-OH.
  13. I think you're a tad bit more optimistic than the majority about right now...
  14. Keep Eloy completely away from those situations by the tarp down the 3B foul line. They're going to have to think about stretching Detwiler back out in a starting role...as painful as it might be, if they can't get enough out of their bullpen starts. The first one from Foster was fine, just wonder how long that can be maintained.
  15. He hasn't gotten much work to stay sharp in the last 7-10 days...I guess. Almost, almost had an error on Robert out in CF but saved himself at the last second getting the ball in.
  16. You're starting to sound like a certain Iraqi information minister with all the attempted spin-meistering going on...
  17. You'd definitely take a 729 OPS out of Mendick and be happy with that...if he can maintain it.
  18. Mendick the only one if the entire offense who showed up so far today...
  19. So much for the prodigious Mazara power there....more like warning trackish.
  20. PHEW... Robert was just coasting along the warning track like he was running 200's at about 75-80% just to warm up before the game and break a slight sweat.
  21. Well, IF IF IF he is safe, yet another terrible defensive lack of focus/concentration out of our starting pitcher today. SELF-INDUCED. 1/13 with just one double against an aging Wainright, that's not so good...especially with the LONG layoff.
  22. Impossible to reverse the out call from all the angles available so far...
  23. I'm a bit concerned Jack Parkman might be the Zodiac killer at this point. (Just kidding...The Fugitive, Dr. Richard Kimball?)
  24. Swung right through an 87 MPH sinker down. That next/following pitch was just in a location where it could have been kilt. EE 105.9 ball to LF. And Robert's down on strikes again on offspeed stuff, this time a 12-6 overhand curveball.
