Basically all of those deals looked bad for the player almost immediately. Those were fantastic signings at the perfect tine. They were 3 of the more valuable assets in all of baseball last offseason for that reason. Other teams haven't had that success. If it wasn't for those contracts, the Sox would be pretty much royally f***ed right now.
Imagine what the Indians would get for Lindor, Jose Ramirez, Brantley, Zimmer, Gomes, Encarnacion...if they auctioned all of them off. That doesn't even include "lost value/opportunity cost" with Carlos Santana and Kipnis.
Finally, throw Kluber, Carrasco, Bauer, Andrew Miller, Salazar, Cody Allen and even Clevinger on top.
Could even throw Austin Jackson and Almonte in there.
Of course, no GM or ownership group would tear apart that nucleus unless they were out of their minds, right?
