April 15th Game Thread: White Sox @ MN Twins
caulfield12 replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in 2017 Season in Review
Chris Sale might go winless and still win the Cy Young, haha. 1.27 era and 12 k's but headed for a no decision, potentially. -
http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/15/opinions/the...nion/index.html In the end, nearly everyone will be stuck with their kids due to robotics/automation. Trump won't be able to do a single thing about it.

More Trump related violence at Berkeley again... The (popular Farmer's) market’s executive director, Martin Bourque, criticized the rally beforehand as likely to accomplish little more than “shouting matches and bloodshed.” The rally was organized by a loose collective of far-right groups. One of them, Oath Keepers, which said it would provide security, has been categorized as an extremist group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Another organizing group, Liberty Revival Alliance, released a YouTube video in advance, billing the “Patriots Day” event as a peaceful free speech rally and stating that it does not support violence or intimidation. Invited speakers, according to the video, include Lauren Southern, a Canadian activist who has said rape affects men more than women, and AltRight.com writer Brittany Pettibone, who has said she believes in Pizzagate, a discredited conspiracy theory involving Hillary Clinton. http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Prot...ey-11075595.php https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uvS0JBn06YM Liberty Revival Alliance video

April 15th Game Thread: White Sox @ MN Twins

18 runs given up against the Twins in his last three starts against the Twins dating back to September 1st. That's 75% of his poor numbers right there. In his other 6 starts, he's given up a much more reasonable 16 runs. KC and Detroit got him for another 10. Weird. Essentially, the AL Central is squashing his trade value. And it's not even the Indians. -

It's more than not scoring runs. He's getting knocked around early. Or maybe it's just like Sale against the Twins in recent years...psychological. And that line-up, there was no way they were doing much with two of their hottest guys benched. -
2-6 with an ERA around 6 in his last 9 starts dating back to Sept 1st last season. At least part of the reason for the lowball offers. 18 runs given up against the Twins in his last three starts against the Twins dating back to September 1st. That's 75% of his poor numbers right there. In his other 6 starts, he's given up a much more reasonable 16 runs. KC and Detroit got him for another 10. Weird. Ivanka is skiing again, this time in Canada. Not serious.

The problem for Davidson has always been his k rate and defense. He has incredible opposite field power, though. Quentin-esque.

Nobody from the GOP was going to accept single payer healthcare, universal free education or further regulation of Wall Street. Sanders also has no or little interest in foreign policy and the military. I'm not convinced he would have won. He would have been hammered about being a socialist and honeymooning in Russia during the height of the Cold War (May, 1988).

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 10:22 PM) I feel like Christmas is out of control with the ridiculous gifting. It's jumped the shark and with people less religious than ever it's a horrific gift-fest in many (most) households. I know many of you hate the thought of anything religious, but we should just get rid of Christmas without the religious component. We don't need a fricking gift giving holiday/day. It's absurd and sick. As far as the sister screaming, it's pretty sad but it's like a drug addict. There's really nothing we can do til she hits rock bottom and perhaps wakes up herself. If you say anything to her she'll freak out and if you say anything to her kids and it gets back to her she will freak. We're talking meltdowns here. Very sad. 25% of GDP is based on late November through the first week or so of January. There would be a huge number of full-time and seasonal jobs lost. Goodbye to all but the top tier shopping malls in the country.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) Rockies pitcher Jon Gray out 6 weeks or more with broken foot/toe. They need a starter. Gonzalez or Holland are much more likely than Q to be traded so early...they still have Pelfrey to throw to the wolves as well before they bring up Lopez.
-
Greg, why not wait until there are more bidders in June/July? Supply and demand. Sure, the Mariners or Giants, etc., could use him, but they're not ready to overpay just two weeks into the season. Not to mention they have a good structure in terms of defined roles for now with Putnam pitching well again and Jones finding his old form.

Great to see contributions from Davidson, Avi Garcia, Saladino, Leury, etc. First big league hit for Willy Garcia and drove another ball to the wall, but also out on the basepaths and dp ball when they needed an insurance run. Pretty darned impressive debut from Covey. He's better than most scouting reports indicated. Vulcan change? Winning with minimal contributions from Abreu, Anderson, Frazier, Cabrera, Q, Rodon. Robertson has his stuff/confidence back and the veteran starters like Holland and Gonzalez are holding the rotation together. Nate Jones looked like his old self again.

Farmer claims all four of his pitches looked good. Why did the A's let him go? Injury last year? -

Powder river. Dylan Coe-vy=next Jose Quintana, AA to the majors -
So basically you'd prefer nuclear war to Clinton as president.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) There are at least a handful. I'm guessing alphadog, rabbit, and jenksismyhero among others. Could be wrong though. Brett05 Drunkbomber?

Dodgers' AA pitcher Enyel De Los Santos with perfect game through 6.
-
Kopech recovered nicely...huge dp helped. Crazy pitching line. 81 pitches, though, through 4.

At least W Garcia got a hit to start...might give him some confidence. -

Covey 92-95. -
Walked in a run. First real adversity of season to battle through.
-
Kopech control and pitch count issues striking this inning...bases loaded, no outs.
-
Moncada with 3 k's, now 14/39. Started 7/11, now 5 for his last 28. Charlotte's play has similarly nosedived after the quick 4-0 start. At least we have Kopech and Collins to keep the spirits elevated. Also Tyler Danish has been pitching decently.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/united-pledg...-052957932.html In the future, law enforcement will not be involved in removing a "booked, paid, seated passenger," Munoz said. "We can't do that." In an effort to calm the backlash, United also announced that passengers on United Express Flight 3411 would be compensated equal to the cost of their tickets. United spokeswoman Megan McCarthy said Wednesday that the passengers can take the compensation in cash, travel credits or miles.
