https://tippie.biz.uiowa.edu/iem/ This is a presidential election market, you buy shares in candidates just like stocks....zero reason it shouldn't reflect perceptions of the race quite accurately. Look what has happened in the last 2-3 days. Trump is doomed. Interestingly, maybe even remarkably, Republican House and Senate control has also blipped up the last week. One would expect Dem Senate and GOP House to be the most likely result, and it has led for most of the summer... https://www.yahoo.com/news/cnn-panel-on-tru...-214302218.html GOP pundit keeps repeating p***y word multiple times on CNN to make a point, despite "many daughters watching or listening".

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 8, 2016 -> 03:23 PM) All of pence's events have been removed from the campaign's website, and reports have been swirling all day that his camp is apoplectic over this. Non zero chance he steps down. You might actually have Pence running against Trump the final month...and Donald trying unsuccessfully to remove him from the ballot. That VP debate has now put Pence and Ryan into a positioning battle for 2020, and Pence has more to gain now pretending Trump doesn't even exist on this planet.

And what was the bwar and the fwar for the pitching staff if you strip away Shields, Latos, Erik Johnson, Danks, Beck and Danish? Seriously, are there any pitching coaches we could confidently assert would turn around Kanhle, Michael Ynoa, Jacob Turner, and the rest of the riff raff that was our pen in August and September? Other than expecting Rodon and Fulmer to perform instantly like Sale and Q, where has he failed? Isn't that just as much on the scouting/evaluation side of things, if not moreso? I guess David Robertson is on Cooper more than Hahn, too, right?

Just got an e-mail from Jason Kander's campaign in Missouri...they're hammering away at Blunt for not repudiating Trump or withdrawing his endorsement. This is going to be the case across the country in any tight race...the Democrats will attempt to bleed away every last woman supporting the GOP candidates. At this point, I doubt it backfires. It definitely feels like his first real "enough is enough" moment with the electorate. The reaction from Republicans will be to double down and attack Clinton and risk coming across as even more insensitive to her. She becomes genuinely sympathetic the more her husband's actions are recounted. Whose side will most women be on here? Seems a foregone conclusion, other than how embarrassed America will be on the international stage over the next month.

It's not quite the clinical or technical definition of rape, but it's veering pretty darned close. Obviously women want to use Trump too, to progress their careers or get some advantage out of it...maybe the smartest ones can tease him but don't actually have to undergo something physical. This, to me, goes back to the likes of Marilyn Monroe having to get 8-10 illegal abortions when she was just starting out in Hollywood...sleeping with numerous producers. Was that her playing the game to be cast in a role, or men using their power and position to take advantage and assault/rape her, when they knew no actresses would come forward and charge a major studio exec with making an unwanted advance? How many of Trump's models or pageant contestants did the same? If more stories come out, how many do we have to hear before using wealth/power to have sex (especially when there are 20-40 year age differences) becomes unacceptable? If JFK did the same thing but we perceive him to be more attractive/appealing to women, how does that make it any different, if at all? I really doubt someone said they just ignore looking at his hair when they were with him, for example. More than the p***y word, it's the cheating on his potentially pregnant wife and knowingly pursuing married women that is most ruffling traditional/conservative GOP feathers. Not the actions, but that he was caught bragging red handed.

Psychological traumatization...I guess.

Price with yet another disappointing performance in the post season. Doesn't augur well for Kershaw. For those hoping Dombrowski would come under pressure to make another big move, events are breaking on cue.
-
Wasn't Flowers also terrible throwing out runners this year?
-
It's interesting now that because Trump interrupted Clinton about as many times as Kaine interrupted Pence, they're somehow equated as being equivalent victories for the "interruptee" when the VP debate was more or less a draw or slight victory to the GOP perception-wise.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 7, 2016 -> 06:23 AM) It's the playoffs and Saturday is an off day. Miller will be available today. We'll see. 40 high stress pitches is a lot. I think you might see him against Ortiz in a key situation, but definitely not for more than 15-20 pitches.

Allen has a pretty nasty knuckle curve, same pitch that Robertson utilizes well when he's confident.
-
Allen is going to be lucky to survive the 9th with that elevated pitch count....so Kluber has to go long tmrw. Of course Price still has a very spotty post season record. Miller will likely be sidelined as well.
-
Indians have impressive depth, when you can go with your 5th/6th starter entering the season in Bauer and beat your opponent's best (although most would consider Price still is the ace). Losing Salazar and Carrasco is the White Sox equivalent of Quintana and Rodon being out.
-
Really gutsy managing by Francona there using Miller for 40 pitches and at that point in the game. If they can cover the 8th, it will look brilliant. Quite the contrast with Britton not even getting off the bench
-
Obviously he'll get the QO, and his "can do whatever he wants" vibe won't be highly appreciated by a new manager trying to set a new tone for the clubhouse...plus putting him around a .500ish team screams potential problems. Not to mention how many nice golf courses there are in Chicago. Then you have the smoking issue. Complicated.

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) Dude said basically that this segment is supposed to be funny and people need to lighten up. This is why the vast majority of comedians aren't conservative, save for the occasional Larry the Cable Guy or unfunny Dennis Miller. Basically, we're at a point where Asian people are the easy targets for jokes because they don't fight back (usually) but also largely due to the perception they're better off economically, test scores-wise/IQ, etc., than whites, so it's harmless. It's okay to make fun of those on top, regardless of their past history in the US. For an example, the Academy Awards gag with the three Asian kids. Never in a million years could Chris Rock get away with using three Hispanic, Native American or even white kids as props in a joke...

What pieces could you trade, even if you wanted McCutcheon?

You need players with a minimum of four years of control, IMO.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 07:29 AM) Didn't the Giants trade him to us originally because he was like, a total jerk in the clubhouse? And then he gets here and he never talks or smiles No place for him to play with Sandoval. Shady defense and seemed more of a doubles hitter...not quite enough power for 3rd. He was a fairly high draft pick if memory serves correct (2008, same year as Posey). http://www.sfgate.com/giants/article/Giant...eto-9802225.php Ron Wotus is the coach who really lobbied to keep him on the roster all season long. -

Lots of ex Sox everywhere you look. Grilli for the Blue Jays. He predates the 2005 team, even. Addison Reed and DeAza on the Mets. Then the Giants. Not to mention all the post season games Uribe won for SFG.
