  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2015 -> 10:09 PM) Any chance Fran Fraschilla gets that job? No way. Nor Steve Lavin. Tommie Amaker deserves another shot, but not sure Iowa provides enough in terms of recruiting...unless you follow the Hoiberg plan of attack and scour the country. Amaker and Rasheed Suleimon to ISU? Don't think he'd want to pick up the phone when Coach K called on that one.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) There is a major issue here you have failed to grasp. Okay, AL... By the way, last year the White Sox were 23-25 at this same point in the season, 7 games back and in fourth place. This year, we could be in fifth and have a much larger spread with the top 3 teams in the division. Last year, there were really only two to chase.
  3. QUOTE (harkness @ May 30, 2015 -> 05:21 PM) Hard to mount winning streak when your offense is this bad. Guy with 49 strikeouts on the season in 73 innings strikes you out 11 times. Such undisciplined/bad hitters. Even Avi who is batting 324 ... he swings at every piece of s*** pitch the pitcher throws. Quit getting your self out... you're major league hitters. Embarassing. Keuchel is one of the favorites for the NL Cy Young but he isn't a huge strikeout guy. He gets by more with deception and movement than pure stuff. Pretty sure today was his career high in K's and a rare cg shutout. 31-19 is surprisingly the best 50 game start for an Astros team in history.
  4. Game already postponed...that was quick.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 30, 2015 -> 03:43 PM) What... Name a 2b not on steroids who didn't completely fall apart in their early to mid 30's. Even Dustin Pedroia has fallen off quite a bit. The White Sox offense isn't even worth discussing at this point. It is what it is. No magic solutions. We're stuck with it. Other than maybe trying Bonifacio more, and that will last 7-10 days and then he'll fade again.
  6. But we're better than the Phillies offensively! We're not the worst. Marketing 101. Kind of sad to see how much Utley is struggling. At one point, he looked like a borderline HoF guy if he could sustain his prime for 3-5 more seasons like Konerko did. 2b just lose it completely. Roberto Alomar and Sandberg come to mind. Drew for the Yankees. Knoblauch. Sax. Iguchi.
  7. Astros have excellent outfield defense, Marisnick and Springer in particular. Tucker and Gattis have forced Rasmus out of a job, for now.
  8. Beckham diving out over the plate on that one...Keuchel won't let him do that twice. When we do play run and hit, THAT results. More bad baserunning there. Long-term deal revoked.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 30, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) First bolded- No Second bolded- Jacobs is a non prospect Jacob May or Mike Jacobs?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2015 -> 02:44 PM) Even with Abreu, the lineup vs LHP is simply pathetic. Having Melky bat 4th vs LHP is comical. What's his average now, 3/40ish? Would have been safe anyway...in all likelihood. Not easy to play the short hop and tag the runner simultaneously. Quintana getting very tentative again. Keuchel might be the favorite for NL Cy Young right now. At least this offensive showing today isnt or shouldnt bre a surprise.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 30, 2015 -> 02:49 AM) Why the hell will Self replace Pop and not one of Pop's assistants? Why would Hoiberg go to Kansas? And you know just as well as I do that Self won't ever leave Lawrence. He revels in being a god there, revels in that power. Rose's weird upbringing? Stance on injuries? He had a tough upbringing and was scared to come back quickly from tearing his knees. The third time he decided he wasn't afraid to. And you're forgetting Butler and Mirotic. I know plenty of married couples that don't enjoy living in college towns (and many who do) and would rather have a quiet house in the suburbs. And also, for someone who was in the NBA, I'm sure he sees the Larry O'Brien trophy as a better achievement compared to an NCAA Championship. Except if you won an NCAA championship in bb or fb at Iowa or Iowa State, you would be above God for the rest of your life.
  12. QUOTABLE "I think I might have saved his life. He better at least think so." -- Ventura on catching Flowers, while pointing to an ice pack on his bruised lower back suffered as a result "He has some back issues anyway. He said I compressed him a little bit." -- Flowers' response Www.mlb.com
  13. Soto has come up with some clutch hits this year at least. And better at throwing out runners recently.
  14. Didn't see that one coming. We might even be out of last place if Seattle can hold off the Indians in the 9th.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Altuve has an OPS of .671 against righties and 1.021 against lefties. If you're putting Jennings in (out of this fairly depleted bullpen) you can't humanly put him in against Altuve. If you wanted to put someone else in it would be Noesi, and then you can't do the lefty/lefty matchup against Tucker because you need Noesi to just go forever. Humanely? The White Sox are evoking words that belong more appropriately with animal shelters and death row inmates at this point.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) Robin was not pleased there. He took that ball from Putnam and didn't look at him. Very tentative. Afraid Springer would homer...just doesn't have much confidence in his stuff right now. Hoping they will fish for pitches outside of the zone like Valbuena did.
  17. Death by paper cuts in this inning. What are the odds of escaping?
  18. Great, Noesi warming up. Jennings is the other, gulp, option. Sigh. Blame this game on the rioters/protestors, lol. I can just see Rongey's excuse stumbling out.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Is this the former infielder Josh Fields? Ummm, no. Nor the former Sox pitcher, either.
  20. Please god, no more steal attempts. We would be better off with no coaching apparently.
  21. Perkins just gave up two run homer to teammate of last season Collabelo in the top of the 9th. Ouch. 4-1 lead now 6-4 deficit, time in first might be short-lived.
  22. Guess we don't know how much the personal issues affected Webb last year with his mother's passing.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:52 PM) Tate getting crushed tonight in his start That's good for our chances at getting him at least...if he's the new target.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) Would Flowers be the worst offensive 1B in the entire league? Him or 46 year old Raul Ibanez. Julio Franco can still outhim in Japan.
