  1. Dykstra is getting enough attention to make the "hot sheet" at some non-BA publications. As far as Davidson, sure...if Gillaspie falls short the first 3 months of the season, you're probably going to see a change...if Davidson can demonstrate sustained success, meaning this month isn't just a blip or anomaly or random noise like a Jared Mitchell hot streak.
  2. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 06:14 PM) Motherf***er! Have the Yanks always had his number? He's on your fantasy team or you're trying to negotiate his long-term deal in free agency? The Yankees, on paper, could have a really nice offense...but they're going to need full-health seasons from A-Rod, Beltran, Tex, McCann, Ellsbury, Headley, Gardner, etc.
  3. Nobody's going to pay attention to Cooper's surliness because it's his normal modus operandi. You have to drop 77 f-bombs like Price to get any attention these days. And I don't believe Don could survive the media scrutiny that goes with being a big league manager for more than 2-3 weeks (and those would be weeks the White Sox were playing fairly well and he wasn't being second-guessed).
  4. The Indians announcer (radio, Tom Hamilton) was still going on about the "sterile" environment and how it's one of the most boring stadiums built during that time period. Hard to get away from the perception at this point...even with all the improvements, roof, greenery, etc. Even the way he said renovations or improvements, it was kind of tongue in cheek, like he wasn't that impressed. Well, it's hard to argue that Jacobs Field/Progressive isn't a much better stadium, and that's where he watches 81 games per year (with the dismal crowds notwithstanding.) And it's also hard to find a worse stadium from that late 80's to late 90's period of stadium construction. If so, what is it? Coors Field?
  5. Hawkins, fwiw, is out OPSing Anderson by quite a bit...even though it feels like Anderson's been the one playing the best by far of the two up until this point. Early season, one or two good games can change the complexion quite quickly.
  6. I'm sure they'll have a convenient "snow delay" to wipe out his start now... Except it seems like Warren and the Yankees are determined to give all those runs right back. SIGH.
  7. Putnam warming? Kind of like a no confidence vote there from Ventura and Cooper.
  8. Cle and Detroit this weekend is going to be huge for the Indians...possibly an elimination series. Great, whats the one thing u dont do in that situation? Walk someone. Cleto could do that. Beckham and Ramirez brought their gloves today, thats for sure.
  9. Cant wait until we need to get out moustakas, hosmer, morales and gordon....with who tmrw? Sale shouldnt be trying to throw a CG in brutal weather. Micah trying to hit that pitch past Harrelson's long drive record in golf.
  10. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/b...15/seasontype/2 Well, on the bright side, seven teams are behind us in runs scored...so theres that. 50 through 14 gp.
  11. Still well over 14,000 today...announced. We can confidently say attendance will be up 15-25% this year unless they are out of the race by the 54 game mark...the key as always, the numbers between Memorial and Labor Day.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 01:29 PM) Ha, that was far too long ago to still have around. My wife wanted me to take a class with her during our senior year, so I took a course that focused on movies highlighting individuals with disabilities. Never play full-on retard...Ben Stiller paraphrase If im 45 and have seen the most movies or taught IB Film, does that mean I should be the final word? Of course not. Art and film are subjective mediums. I love Gladiator and Pacific Rim...and hokey Disney sports films like The Rookie or Glory Days. Does that mean I have to break down Tony Scott's film Unstoppable and support the idea its 100x better than any Bay film...that Deep Impact is still better than Armageddon...or should I instead support the thesis that Scott brothers films will drive one crazy by bouncing you around with that camera like a bad acid trip meeting the worst tendencies of the Jason Bourne films? This is like arguing that DaVincis the greatest artist of all-time because of the Mona Lisa and not his other more aesthetically pleasing work. Generally, when someone tries to prove anyone wrong in these film threads theyre going to go down in flames.
  13. Dont forget Goon, Miracle and Slap Shot.
  14. Check out the first 2-3 weeks of April, 2014. The average for the three worst weekday games was around 11,000. This year, 13,750ish...so they're roughly 20-25% better than their season ticket base last year...just a rough estimate. What's the number today with absolutely abysmal weather? http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance The White Sox should settle in somewhere between 23rd to 26th after this weekend's series against KC...unless the weather is still brutal. No point to look at attendance until the end of May.
  15. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 11:53 AM) I'm reading the post again and the tone strongly indicates you were not being sarcastic. It's fine if you wanna be a Royals fan, go for it. Just be honest. As I said before, I lived in KC for ten of their worst years and empathized with their fans during a thirty year stretch of oblivion. But I can promise that you will never see me write a single line at a Royals' fan site, either.
  16. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 11:53 AM) Q was not developed with the Sox. He was brought up else where tossed aside and the Sox picked him up as a side project. So clearly the Yankees developed him so well they were willing to give him up for nothing?
  17. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 11:51 AM) They were developed in Cuba. 75 % of the others were not fully developed in our oraginzation bc they were traded away. Danks and Floyd are laughable (in my opinion). Rodon and Jones are not developed yet. Q is a huge question mark right now. So now we are ignoring three years of Quintana's history? After less than a month? Obviously you never watched Danks with the Rangers/or 2007 or Floyd with the Phillies. Part of development is assessing talent....the biggest part.
  18. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 11:20 AM) Seriously, what is this "can't wait" crap? Sarcasm.
  19. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) BC they coddle pitchers. I am not saying it is, just something to ponder. The Sox have not developed any pitcher or position player worth note other then Sale. Why is that? Jose Quintana. Hector Santiago. Addison Reed. Daniel Hudson. Gio Gonzalez. Nate Jones. Carlos Rodon. Floyd and Danks. Alexei and Abreu. Chris Carter. Ryan Sweeney. Marcus Semien. Paulo Orlando.
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 08:45 AM) i went and looked again at the stat for this team thus far. way below avg. Jose A hits 4 hrs already, what would it been if there were men on base at those times. i don't know, someone mention change the line up. Eaton, hitting 170, MJ hitting what 240, well switch them. who else his hitting a little better than the others?? Johnson's not ready for that kind of pressure....Eatons going to have to fight his way out of this on his own.
  21. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting/_/han...tric/order/true Markakis, Snider, Aoki, Ike Davis, Adam Lind, Kendrys Morales and Ben Zobrist., Dexter Fowler..those are the only realistic names here. We werent in a position to go after Heyward.
  22. http://www.hardballtimes.com/the-advantage...ng-left-handed/ The advantages of being a LH hitter in MLB.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 07:32 AM) Would you put the chances at zero that if Robin left Noesi in and Moss did damage, or Robin put Putnam in the game and Moss reached, that not one of the posters complaining after the fact about Rodon, would not have been ripping Robin for not using Rodon? All of the hindsighters are always right. They do expose themselves occassionally, like the people who couldn't believe dumb Robin would pinch hit Shuck for Soto, and Shuck delivers a game winning hit. Oh, it was the same Soto who they were complaining and going on and on about how terrible he is his very next appearance. Except you're never going to win...Robin has three "blown" games already this week, whereas you have two nights ago and the Shuck/Soto example. Not to mention the general feeling around the team right now...poor baserunning, defense, fundamentals, low OBP and lack of clutch hitting with RISP other than the 9th inning rally this week. Too much of a trend to fight against, in the end. If Detroit and KC werent off to such great starts and the Sox werent such notorious slow starters out of the gate, this wouldnt be as much of an issue. But it is what it is.
  24. Cue Greg saying Robin will never straight platoon guys like Dunn and LaRoche at their salaries. Maybe theres something to the A's approach...using castoffs (Moss for example) its much easier for the organization to justify platooning them.
  25. Well, knowing that Jennings was supposedly hurting, that eliminates one argument against Rodon being used in that particular situation. Still, theres a huge difference between doing it thirty plus times at FGCU and in the minors (2010) vs. just a "couple of times" in meaningless spring training games.
